Growing up, my dad would bring me here during my childhood, and some of my favorite memories were made sitting together with a fresh donut and hot chocolate before school or on weekend mornings. Even now, walking in brings back that same comforting feeling. The donuts are always fresh, soft, and full of flavor, and the customer service has consistently been warm and welcoming over the years. Her prices have recently gone up, but that's because she was way behind with that and we understand the increase. She offers delicious products, excellent service and a smile all day long. Monterey Donut had been closed for a few years due to a structure fire, and the entire neighborhood was thrilled when it reopened. The two sisters that own the shop are sweet as pie and know regulars by name. The donuts are made fresh every morning - generous in size, reasonably priced (cash only), and delicious (especially the apple fritter.) They also have bagels, muffins, croissants, and a variety of coffee drinks. Sometimes I stop in to pick up a banana muffin for my friend. The store is located in the Fresco shopping center, so there is plenty of free parking. read more

I love mom-and-pop donuts shops and I came across Monterey Donut on Yelp while trying to satisfy my craving for apple fitters. I grabbed the last apple fritter around 11am and it was delicious but a smidge dry. The donut holes were very fluffy and tasty. Both the fritter and donut holes more than satisfied my donut craving. It's a small shop with a good selection of donuts and baked goods at very reasonable prices. Inside was clean and had two tables for indoor dining. Yum yum yum so many donut choices. We had a ham and cheese croissant that was superb. Coconut donut in chocolate and vanilla. The donuts were fresh and tasty. We also had muffins and donut holes. I was looking forward to trying this donut shop. First time I went "CASH" only. So couldn't purchase anything. A few days later I had cash and ordered the maple bar. It was good and fresh but nothing worth raving about. The lady who serviced me was professional but it would behoove her to offer a free donut with purchase because it doesn't really cost her anything to add at least one free donut. I remember Judy's donuts in Oakhurst, CA...Really good donuts and every time I would go there. I would order one donut and Judy would add an extra donut in my bag. Which kept me going for more. When I ordered a dozen she would add 6 extra donuts. That is awesome customer service and it made the already delicious donuts taste even better because you could tell she loves to make donuts and share it with the community! Out here in LA I have not experienced that with any donut shops? They tend to be all about just making money and to be honest that greed affects the taste of their food(donuts). Only donut place I know where donuts are still around a buck (a buck fifty to be precise), and sells out during the week and line out the door to buy boxes of donuts after 4pm. But I say the best time to go is at 10am, or 2 pm. Coffee goes very good with her donuts around 2pm. The donuts have thin and crispy layer of skin as u bite in, then you will experience soft - fluffy - ness and gooey - ness all at the same time, as you bite down. I say the perfect texture for a donut; you then suddenly realize you have missed out on this all your life with other things you thought they were "donuts". The oil is very light and not soggy or heavy like at some boutique donut shops. Her donuts are perfectly flavored, not too sweet or doughy, just right. Her donuts are the definition of PERFECT donuts. You just don't believe it at first that you paid only about buck and half for this, and then recall all the other moments you had to pay more for other "donuts". I recommend, Suger graze, chocolate graze ( the best) and apple fritter ( lots of cinnamon). I feel so blessed to know this spot I can go to, is about a mile away from me! Very average mom & pop donut shop. 3.5 stars. I've come here twice so far and I've tried the sugar donut, chocolate glazed donut, and an iced coffee. The donuts were super soft, even when I came at night right before closing! I'll take these over Krispy Kreme anyday! My friend tried their apple bran muffin and enjoyed it too. The iced coffee wasn't too good though... =/ for coffee, I recommend going to Cycleway a few blocks away. But what I do like about this store is that they sell lotto tickets and scratchers. They have a whole section filled with them! They also have a fridge filled with bottled Snapples, Starbucks, and energy drinks like Red Bull and Monster... which I'll be needing for my exams coming up reallyyy soon... good thing this place is only a block away! :) read more

An unexpectedly nice find. I was hungry for a donut and saw the donuts sign off Monterey Road & Via Marisol The shop is in a small shopping center where Fresco Market is located. Parking is easy, and no matter where you park, the walk won't be far. They do a steady business, but you won't wait long. Everyone in there seems to be a regular and everyone is in a good mood, especially the staff. The people who work there are the best! So friendly, just like seeing an old friend. That's what I liked most about that place. If you're a lottery player or a scratch card player, they totally have you hooked up. I've never seen so many. See my pic. If you live in the area, buy from them. I'd love to see a business like this get the share of the Super Lotto winnings! The donuts are pretty good. They aren't the very best, but they are plenty good (I give the donuts four stars), and they are generously sized, especially the filled donuts....AND they are very reasonably priced. A half dozen donuts is only $4.25, and a dozen donuts are only $8.00. That's the best price I've found in all of the Los Angeles area.
