As some of the more recent reviews say, this place used to be much better than now. I moved to Fremont around 4 years ago and Mr. Green Bubble was always my top choice for boba. However, in the past few months there was definitely a major hit in drink quality. Drinks used to be perfectly balanced with cream, sweetness, and tea. This is no longer the case. A number of times I've had to ask them to remake a drink because it was too watered down. I can understand new staff can struggle a bit for the first few weeks, but to have zero progression is another story. Trust me when I say the drink tastes less like milk tea, and more like water with milk tea food coloring. No flavor, no creaminess, and sometimes the boba is rock hard. If MGB can revert back to previous years where their drinks were superbly top notch, and their service was more friendly I would consider coming back here more. But until then, I can recommend these instead: iTea, Q Tea Monster, or Gong Cha. read more

During my first visit, my partner and I decided to get the jasmine milk tea, lychee green tea, and spicy crispy chicken. We didn't notice the combos but the cashier was nice enough to change our order to the combo (jasmine milk tea + chicken) to make it slightly cheaper. But their customer service doesn't stop there! After about a minute or two of placing our order, I was glancing at their menu and saw that I wanted to try the pineapple + orange green tea instead. My partner went to go ask the workers if it would be possible to change it but would be fine if they have already started on it. They happily told us that it's no problem. Later when we go to grab our finished drinks, they handed us our orders but also the lychee green tea that I had initially ordered! They insisted that we keep it and to just save it for tomorrow since there were no toppings inside to spoil it. It was really generous of them to start making the new drink even though the initial drink was already made, AND by giving us both at no extra charge! As for the taste, you could taste the tea flavor in both the jasmine and the fruit teas (the lychee green tea also still tasted really good the next day with a strong and refreshing tea taste). It is very dirty and disgusting the floors look like they have not been cleaned in years. We saw a COCKROACH there. When they herd us talking about it they acted like it was a normal thing. I was craving some milk tea and I didn't want to go to Union City's Sharetea because their milk tea isn't too great, and the Yelp reviews for Mr Green Bubble aren't bad for milk tea so I decided to come try it! I got an earl grey milk tea, 1/4 sugar, no ice, no toppings, and it was surprisingly good! It was too sweet though, and I think the tea flavor could have been stronger. It was better than I was expecting, and the size of the drink was about average. It was expensive for a milk tea though! Post-tax was $3.91 for a cup smaller than Sharetea's and a lot of milk tea places nowadays. I think I would give my drink 3.5 stars, but the pricing brought it down to 3 stars. I don't drink boba, but I came here regularly when worked just to have their fried chicken. The crispy batter and chicken thigh morsels were perfectly juicy. However, the seasoning isn't always consistent, albeit still tasty. I would order at a spice level of three out of five and usually expect a heat of medium approaching spicy. There were days it tasted like fours with super hot mouth feel and once my chicken appeared to be dusted on one side with a limp shake (a one level spice). Their fried tofu and fried mushroom get the same seasoning and options for spice levels and are also great. Once upon a time, they used to have this super awesome combo called the Super Deluxe that had fried chicken with vegetables (I think they were sweet potatoes, mushrooms, squash, and green beans). First time coming here recommended by a friend. Once walking in, the place has a nice green atmosphere that gave a calming feeling. The drink selection was typical for the most part with a few unique ones. I ordered a champagne lattea which was ok but my friend honeydew milk tea was really refreshing! I might order that one myself next time. They have takoyaki! Not too many places can make good takoyaki so I will be trying it next time. I often come here to study as it is usually not busy and they offer free wifi with power outlets under the seats. There are two specials that you should be aware of: 1) buy a popcorn chicken and you can get one of the selected drinks for $1.50. 2) $1 refill per receipt within 2hours of first purchase! I really appreciate Mr. Green Bubble for the fact that they have a decaf tea menu!! I can't handle caffeine, so milk tea is usually off limits for me. I like that they use fresh tea and that I can customize the type of dairy in my drink along with sugar and ice. I usually get their Honey Bush tea or fresh watermelon juice when it's in season. The space is small but very clean and not as packed with bops like Tap Ex or ShareTea. Update, 12/22/15: I got an avocado almond smoothie with pearls that was recommended on their menu board. About 90% of the drink is pearls, not even exaggerating. The almond syrup overpowers the avocado flavor, so I feel like I'm just drinking almond flavored pearls. It's a hit or miss when coming here. I came here for drinks a couple times. I think the flavored teas here are decent and better than TapEx across the street. The snacks aren't as good though. First impression of the store is its new cute ambiance and its cleanliness. The drinks are not sugary sweet, but the sweet honey boba made a good combination with it. The snack is pretty good too i feel like their chicken in popcorn chicken is more real and fresher than tapex's. Honestly, not coming here again. Staying loyal to TapEx, and if TapEx is closed then looks like I wont be having milk tea that day. To start, their online ordering system is whack. The lady asked to see my receipt 3 times because THEY forgot about my order. I waited 35 min and they werent even busy. 35 min for 3 basic drinks and 2 orders of popcorn chicken. Lets talk about the drinks, one surprisingly came out normal, the other two though? gross. Waste of $. My thai tea was so gross. I also specified that one of the drinks should not have boba in it and they ended up putting it in, my sister is allergic so she couldnt even have her drink.. I also specified that the chicken should be extra crispy in the notes section and I got chewy chicken like it was rubber. Save yourselves and go elsewhere read more

My personal favorite drinks are usually the more refreshing drinks that don't have milk. The green bubble in piedmont was known for that. So I just assumed Union city was the same. read more

I like this place! My sister ordered milk tea with boba, I ordered a watermelon juice and my husband ordered a tarp smoothie. Everything had really good flavor. The milk tea was good and the boba had good consistency. The watermelon juice was delicious and tasted very fresh. My husband saved his taro smoothie for the next day and froze it over night. I would give them zero stars if I could. Don't get me wrong I love the smoothies and food is ok, but I had the WORST experience with an employee named Jaleena. I walked in earlier today at about 10:55a.m. because I saw that the open sign was out. I looked at the menu for a minute with my niece and them walked over to the register. I waited for another few minutes then asked Jaleena, who was rinsing stuff by the sink, if I could order. She responded without even looking over at me that they didn't open until 11. I then asked her why she didn't tell me anything when I first got there & she replied, again without bothering to look at me or stop what she was doing, "I don't know". Then we started arguing back and forth to the point where she was YELLING at me! I can't believe she actually yelled at me for something that wasn't even my fault! Why was the open sign out? Why were the doors unlocked? Why was I allowed to just stand there and wait inside, unattended? I just wish she would've told me that they weren't open yet so I could've just waited outside a few more minutes. But NO instead I get yelled at and I walked out empty handed. Thank for for ruining my morning! I will be contacting a manager about this soon. Also, I have informed my friends about my experience and as disappointed as they were to hear about it because they too love this place, they won't be returning and obviously, neither will I.
