They don't take card, only ZELLE. We got one bag of the Pork, Shrimp, & Chives 50pc for $24, didn't have cash so we had to Zelle. The guy was nice, one other lady hand stuffing the dumplings in the back. Pork, Shrimp, & Chives = 3.5/5 there was more chives than shrimp. Wrapper was nice thick and chewy. I think next time we will try the pork & shrimp instead. Might also change the stars rating to a 4 or a 5 but for now this my honest opinion.

Stopped by to see if I could grab a bag of dumplings. I remember my family talking about this store and how good it was. The store may seem closed but it's actually open (the door was locked when I tried it but staff immediately unlocked the door)! I ended up getting a 50-piece bag of pork & chive dumplings, as it's the flavor I'm most used to. Staff was super nice, telling me I needed to put the dumplings back in the freezer immediately, since it was freshly made. They also stated the dumplings would stay fresh (tastewise) for up to a month in the freezer. I definitely appreciated the tips and help! It was $21 for the bag, which can be pricey but definitely wanted to support a family favorite and local business. Will be back to try other dumplings!

Authentic chinese dumplings. I tried many places and Lai Young is the Best in bay area!

Delicious artisan dumplings! Lai Young is a tiny frozen dumpling shop located in a strip mall near Mt. Eden Park. It was buried in my bookmark list until I came across a recent review by another Yelper. Since I was running errands in the Hayward area on 01/30/2021, I decided to stop by to pick up a couple bags of frozen dumplings for dinner. I walked up at around 11:40 am and was greeted by the owner James. He was super polite and friendly. I ordered two 50-piece bags - one made with chicken ($17) and the other with pork, shrimp, and chive ($19.50). The total was $36.50. I had to wait a few minutes for them to assemble my order. James suggested I either call and text in the order next time to avoid the wait. I cooked the pork, shrimp, and chive ones for dinner that evening. They were ready to eat after 10-12 minutes of boiling. The dumpling skin was smooth and delicate and had the right thickness. The filling was outstanding. I could taste the freshness of the chives and shrimp. I had the chicken ones a few nights later. They were very good as well. This place hits all the marks for me - delicious offerings, friendly service, and fantastic value. I will be a regular from this point on. BONUS MATERIAL: - Cash and checks only.

Frozen dumplings only for takeout. Very great value and the dumplings are so tasty. You can call or text in advance, if you just show up, they may sell out for some items on the menu. The host is very polite and friendly. Will definitely come back to try other flavors.

The staff told her we wouldn't be seated unless our entire party was present. About 4 people were late, but they still seated us. The restaurant kind of felt old and somewhat dirty. But hey, it was my dad's birthday. I wasn't paying for lunch. We occupied three tables and ordered from both the lunch and dim sum menus. I enjoyed dishes like shiu mai, pork buns, walnut shrimp, fried rice, fish, and fried noodles. The sesame balls were tasty, but the service was slow, and I had to follow up on our order. I didn't care for the bun with the hot dog or the other noodle dish. Later that day, my daughter mentioned she had found hair in a pork bun and that her cousin had eaten it. She also said every item he picked up had hair on it, which was disappointing. I didn't confirm this with my cousin, but it would have been helpful to have someone inform the staff. Fortunately, no one at our table found hair in their food, which was a relief. Overall, the food that I ate was fine, but I wouldn't make a special trip from San Jose to visit again...unless it's a fambam family treat.
