Been here several times over the years when I'm in town. This is the first time I felt disappointed - tzatziki didn't have much flavor and there was minimal onion and tomato. The meat was good though, and plentiful in the pita. The French fries are nothing special and pretty much just filler. Small strip mall space, most suitable for carry-out. My Gyro was skimpy and hardly any fries. My buddy ordered the same thing and his gyros had 3 times more meat and he got 4 times the fries. He loved it. I liked the taste of the food, but didn't like getting skimpy food. She must not of liked me for some reason? We found this little place on our way to Grand Rapids, MI. Everything on the road was just your normal fast food and we were looking for something different but just good and semi-quick. We found some solid gyros. It's definitely off the beaten path, maybe in a questionable area for some but worth the trek for great gyros and Greek fries. There was just one lady cooking, it's like Mom is cooking for you while she plays her music in the kitchen! No muss, no fuss. The gyro sandwiches in pita are really excellent especially with the cucumber sauce. My cardiologist warns against them. So I limit them to no more than 2 per year. I should have turned around after noticing that the glass door and windows looked like they had not been cleaned in months, but I was hungry and went on in. Ordered the gyro combo and asked for the fries lightly done and no onion on the gyro. The portion of meat was good and the bread was done perfectly, but there was very little tomato, the cucumber sauce had very little flavor and there was not enough of it, and finally the meat was too greasy. The fries were overdone - even after asking for the opposite. Also they have a sign that says drink refills are 50¢ which is ridiculous. They were not very friendly and the young lady that took my order seemed to be preoccupied with the baby that was sitting toward the back of the kitchen area. Overall the food was just OK but my biggest issue is that the place is not very clean. When I was finished I went to the bathroom and it was not very clean either. There was food on the floor, the walls are all scuffed up and dirty and the place is not very appealing - which makes me wonder how much detail the owners pay to keeping the kitchen clean and the food fresh. The fresh smell of herbs and meat permeate through the air. A gentle breeze floats in from the open door. Your open face gyro stares at you. It begs to be devoured. This was the restaurant where I chose to end my gyro virginity. I'd always wanted to try a gyro, and when I kept hearing good things about this restaurant, I decided to take the plunge. Call me biased, but few gyro restaurants ever since have been able to compare to my "first time" place. The kids and I ate there as often as we could. I've since moved far away from Coldwater, but I wish I could have taken Mr. Gyros with me. I do appreciate what I learned from the experience: how a good gyro should taste, how nice it is to receive a generous portion of everything; and, in connection to the gyro meat itself, to always look for the blue and white female Greek soldier logo I remember seeing there. It wasn't the best gyro I've ever had, but it wasn't bad. The portions were very generous. We also had an order of mushrooms that were ok. It looked pretty clean and well kept. I just got a regular gyro with all the toppings (cuke sauce, onions, etc). It was really good. BUT, it was really greasy. It had a TON of meat, which is normally a plus, but it this case, and for the price of about $7, I would have been happier if they had taken the meat and split it between two gyros. I think next time I'll ask them to make me two gyros and just split the meat from one between the two. The pita is already flat-top fried in oil, and so are the onions, so with that much meat in one it was almost too much, and that's not something I normally say lol. read more

Avoid this place at all cost unless you like frozen, processed food. The chicken Gyro was a chopped up frozen patty, not fresh grilled chicken and the cucumber sauce was flavorless. My wife asked for chicken on her Greek salad and was served chicken nuggets (which I took back and it was pointed out that I should've ordered the chicken gyro salad) The bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke and since we were the only ones in the restaurant I can only guess the cook was the guilty party. This has THE best regular Gyro I've ever had and beats out the location at College Park, MD. My new favorite place is a gem here in Coldwater, MI. Can't wait to come back for another one.
