It first started with him being 15 min late to our initial appointment. He then called me at 2:15 and started bitching about the parking situation. This is Los Angeles! Besides my area isn't that bad for parking. I didn't really understand what the problem was. I basically had to find a spot for him. Anyone who does house calls in Los Angeles should have the common sense to know that parking is difficult in LA. He had my address for a several days, he knew where I lived. If he wasn't going to be able to handle the parking situation he should've told me. I've never had a contractor call me and say that they couldn't find parking. His work is messy. Every handyman I've hired usually cleans up their mess before leaving. He left dust and wood shavings in my bathroom, bedroom, and living room as well as his trash. He half finished the job yesterday and was supposed to come over today at 9:10 am. It's now 10am. I've called him multiple times, left a message and texted him. Still haven't gotten a response. He is one of the laziest and slowest human beings I've ever met. This experience has been such a headache. I usually have such great experiences using yelp. I am now going to call another handyman that I know from Orange County and beg him to finish this horrible job. He finished installing a light fixture in minutes and charged a fair and minimal fee. Super nice guy w/ a positive attitude and a plethora of tools and skills. Fast forward a few months and we needed him again to take care of some rather intricate pot-rack hanging. This guy is a perfectionist to say the least. He gave me several options to hang the rack and suggested a sturdy, trustworthy method that allowed us to hang 50 lbs worth of pots and pans from our drywall ceiling with no problems. Then he moved onto a butcher block in our kitchen and stripped the top of mold, dirt, dust and general ugliness. The thing looks brand spanking new and is now a charming (and more importantly, USEABLE) addition to our kitchen. Go ahead: Hire Robert to perform any electrical, plumbing, painting, demo work or landscape jobs and it will be money well spent! Super trustworthy, super fair pricing for his expert skills and a helluva nice guy. Plain and simple: Robert kicks BUTT! This is what reads on the back of his card: "Limited tooling creates a lower overhead, which is how i lower my fee. Please note: all estimates are approximates, and fees are skill-based and by the hour. Material cost, a one time delivery fee, and a one-time call out fee factors into final bill. I caught both Nikita and Donat RED-HANDED trespassing on my property USING MY GARAGE CODE TO ENTER MY HOME... TWO MONTHS AFTER I FIRED THEM. They claim they "left some tools behind" so that's why they were accessing my property WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Really? Seriously? As if they have the right to use my garage code to enter my home at any time? I tried to keep my calm tho I was freaking out, asked them to please leave. I have an appointment I have to get to on time and to call/text me whatever it is they needed. They had the audacity to refuse to leave AFTER I just caught them red-handed trespassing, stood in front of my car preventing me to leave. WTF. I lost it. On my own property. I called Security and found out they had another job in our gated community. So basically, these Russian contractors deemed it totally acceptable to come by my house in the middle of the day, believing nobody was home and just go through my home? To steal or God knows what they were up to. I feel violated and still shocked they think it's okay to do such a thing. They've been warned by Security... should they make another attempt like they did on this day dated January 17th -or- even dare to come anywhere close to my home again, the police will get involved. I filed a police report to have this on record that I caught them red-handed about to enter my garage. As far as their qualifications for contractor job... I had high hopes when I chose this father and son team based on the other 5-star reviews and since their bids were comparable to another contractor. However very soon we realized as the job started that they were unreliable and basically don't know what they were doing. They "learnt" how to put up drywall a year ago by watching YouTube videos. And also turned out they are not licensed. Since they don't know what they are going, and kept asking me "what needs to get done" or "ask Home Depot what tools and materials are needed", their quotes are not reliable. Be warned if you discuss any jobs with them, they would end up asking for more money because "it took more work, time and effort" even when they agreed to the job and estimate. And trust me... the language barrier is REAL. Lots of mistakes on part 1 of the job putting up drywall. And part 2 painting was a botched job with paint leaked over our brown painted garage door. There were other mistakes made that cost us more money to hire someone else to fix. We couldn't keep working with them for part 3 of the project, it was a waste of our time and money, and mostly really stressful. Nikita is the son, barely 18 or 19? He 'translates' for his father Donat who doesn't speak English and never shows up earlier than 1pm to start any work because he has personal things to do. They are consistently unreliable and hard to schedule -- always saying they have other bigger jobs that seems more important for them to do. It was a major headache trying to get them to do anything and we highly regret hiring them... And now after catching them entering my home thinking nobody is home -- just proves even more so what kind of people they are. I'm beyond sick of dealing with "nice" contractors who turn out to be nothing but dishonest, scammers and untrustworthy... and now I can add trespassing on my property to my list of horror contractors stories.
