We were headed to a nursery in Ocoee and decided to give this place a try. So glad we did! My husband and I both had the beef noodle soup. The broth is incredibly rich and aromatic with all the Chinese spices and the noodles perfectly al dente. (I had the thicker hand pulled noodles). It was topped with a nice helping of tender beef slices, more than enough to make it a filling meal. I had the cold jasmine tea which complemented the flavors perfectly. It's a local restaurant hidden in Ocoee The restaurant is on the smaller size, similar to a small ramen space. They have different hand pulled noodle sizes #1-8, that you can choose for your noodle dish. I did not sit in the restaurant to eat, but took my food to go. I ordered the beef noodle soup with #8 noodles, stir fried noodles with #7 noodles and the bolognese pork noodles with #8 noodles. Just a tip - if you are taking home the beef noodle soup home, you'll need to cook the noodles at home. 3 min in boiling water, take it out and then put in the broth. The beef noodle soup - similar taste to beef pho. It was pretty good. However they really skimp out on the meat. For that, you're better getting Vietnamese beef pho where they are more generous with the meat Stir fried noodles - the noodles are not dry. It's a tomatoey sauce with the 5 spice aroma. No meat besides the 3 pieces of thin beef they placed on top. I would've preferred a stir fry noodle to be less wet and less salty. The veggies were over done and again, no meat. Pork bolognese noodle - the lady said it was spicy, imo, it wasn't. The noodles lacked flavor and was not salty enough. The noodles alone are soft and great. I would start off by saying I'm no food expert nor reviewer. To me, a good bowl of noodles should have a really good broth, noodles, and its toppings. The noodles and broth did deliver, and I am happy that I picked the hand pulled noodles over the knife cut. However, the briskets were on the dry side which was a little disappointed. I'd say I have had better Lanzhou hand pulled noodles else where. I would say Mr.J was't that good, but wasn't that bad neither. However, reason why I gave 3 stars bc of their service. The service was rather lacking. We were rushed to order when we first entered. I and my wife ordered hand pulled and knife cut noodles. The staff brought our order without explaining which was which, then quickly walked away to join other staffs' conversation. We came during their so-called staffs meeting in middle of the restaurant. Disappointing First it's super hard to find as they do not have real signage Was really looking forward to trying the noodles but was disappointed to find out that there's really only 1 basic dish and then you choose the size of the noodle you want with it. It's a small place with a handful of 4-tops and 2-tops and a singles counter along the storefront window. Vibrantly decorated, modern, and welcoming. Chinese satellite TV on in the dining room. You order at the counter, guy working there seems like he must be a relative and might have other things he wants to do, but he was helpful enough, warmed up a little later. At most 2 or 3 other parties dining there while we were there; some really confused non-Asian people (no, there is no General Tso's in this Chinese place). We asked for a recommendation and got the Stir/Fried noodles, triangle-shaped (you have a choice of 8), and we're springy and chewy. Also got a few side dishes, Cucumber Salad (sesame oil, light salt, a little soy, a little vinegar), Harumaki (Japanese spring roll), and a rou jia mo (Shaanxi "burger"). The dishes were very tasty, not bold flavors, somewhat muted, but familiar, home-style, freshly made. I thought it was great comfort food. I got some food to go for dinner time later: Honey Garlic Wings to go, crunchy, sticky, sweet; Cold Beef Shank, marinated with chili oil, garlic, fresh cilantro (I love the cold salads of the west, especially the shaved tendons and tripe; shaved noodles in their signature beef bone broth (light, clean). The gentleman in the front register is ver informative and shares tips to make this dish yummy when it gets to my home. The restaurant is clean and bright.
