    Popeye Turkey Sandwich

My husband always raves about this place because he grew up in this area. This was my second time going here & I will say it is DELICIOUS! The first time I just got an Asiago bagel with plain cream cheese, which was good. This time I got the popeye turkey on an Asiago bagel. It was SO SO GOOD! I wanted to get another one after I finished it, it was just way too good. My husband got the chicken charlie with no bacon on an egg bagel and it was also super good. JMU students are lucky to have multiple of these close to the university. Great place to grab a quick breakfast!

Good place for your obligatory bagel and coffee breakfast in the morning! They have 3 locations in "the valley"! Walking in you're surround by cozy nooks to enjoy your warm meal and coffee. This place seems to have loyal followers. The cashier was thrilled when she heard we were new to the shop. Be prepared for bagel options GALORE. I thought the bagel visual board was unique and super useful! Unfortunately, our order was a little messed up- which was more of an inconvenience to my boyfriend. They corrected themselves, gave us a refund, and complementary bagel bites (French toast and cinnamon raisin bagel holes with icing on top and and some festive sprinkles- customer beside us in line said those were awesome...I however thought they were too sweet so I couldn't agree) with a take home menu urging us to come back! For this reason I would definitely commend the staff for being so polite and accommodating. I have never been so pleased with service (especially when I'm hangry). Hot coffee was nice and strong. My iced caramel coffee was DANGEROUSLY sweet...I had to go up and ask for half of it to be replaced with regular iced coffee to make it drinkable. So keep that in mind when ordering. We ordered the lox and cream on an everything egg bagel- cream cheese was plentiful and the lox were tasty. I missed the capers and onions but they don't have that here. Steak, egg and pepper jack cheese on an onion bagel- small amount of steak but had a pleasant spice to it. I was missing something to tie it all together though. A little ketchup and hot sauce worked. Overall, the bagels themselves tasted very well prepared. I would come back for sure to try some of their homemade schmears and toasted bagels. The pasta salad side was AWESOME. Good breakfast spot but possibly an even better lunch spot?? Everything is very self serve in regard to utensils and coffee mix ins. It's very clean! This spot is the perfect mix of casual and bring your whole family for breakfast. Price is very reasonable.

I will immediately assume that within awaits a superior Reuben, a potato salad with the peel left on, and possibly a slice of pie made the day before. Anything less, and I mean anything, is unacceptable and very well might ruin the rest of my day. But this was not that. Upon entrance I did have concerns, as it has a contemporary cafe-ish feel. The lighting, decor, etc. might initially lead one to believe they can order some bland panni and continue with their day. Do not be mistaken. This feels like the home of someone's grandma (sidenote: "Lola" is the combination of the two owner's names, Logan and Lauren) with the aroma floating through the air like a "dinner's ready" call from the front porch. There was no hesitation in my order; Reuben and potato salad. The marbled rye, corned beef, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut, with the house made dressing...oh such a work of art. The potato salad, why did I order a small portion?! It was delicious and served by some of the kindest people I have ever encountered in the food industry. If the weather permits, I highly recommend the outdoor seating. And I which I could give insight on the desserts, but alas the sandwich and salad did me in. Next time, next time for sure.

It contains a generous portion of sliced chicken breast on a pillowy soft sub roll laced with Boom-Boom sauce, a mild to very moderately spicy concoction. The onions are grilled, sweet, and a perfect complement to the rest of the sandwich. The combination of freshness and good flavors is superb. The staff here are all extremely friendly and helpful. The parking is plentiful. There are several outdoor tables as well as a couple of indoor ones. All around the Market are the most stunning rolling corn fields, pastures, impossibly green pastures, and majestic mountain vistas. The next afternoon, I popped in for some takeaway brisket, pulled pork, and freshly made cole slaw. Amazing!! The tomato based BBQ pork sauce is perfectly spicy and sweet. The brisket BBQ sauce has a dark rich smoky flavor. The cole slaw is beyond perfection. Crunchy, fresh, and not over-saturated in dressing. A superb take-home and heat up meal. I put the pork and the brisket in a cast iron skillet with a pan as a lid and heated it in the oven for 30 minutes at 325 degrees (always check your internal meat temperatures, of course). The chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing are also delicious. The cake is light and fluffy and the icing is just the perfect sweetness. It is a true pleasure to go to the Sunrise Market & Deli.

We originally going to get a drink but once we stepped inside that quickly changed. There were several people in line at the rear deli counter. I ordered the chicken supreme with the macaroni salad & hubby ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The food tasted fresh & was full of flavor. There are only two booths inside the restaurant & a few tables outside. Being a city girl I loved seeing the Mennonite community pulling into the parking lot in a horse & buggy. Excellent service, food & prices. Sunrise is worth the trip!

We are from Texas and we're not expecting much when we went. Ok - we were positively surprised. The chips and salsa are good - the salsa has a nice flavor and not hot which is good for chips. The queso has a very good flavor. We tried the California burrito which had carnitas, rice, refried beans and was topped with white queso. The carnitas was prepared perfectly - great flavor and moist. We also tried the steak burrito (I forget the name) and it was also very good. The steak had a great flavor as did the rice and beans. Finally, we tried the chicken taco salad which was also very good. The grilled chicken was full of flavor and the cheese, lettuce and tomato were very fresh. I added the green salsa which is both flavorful and has a mild kick to it. This is truly the first really good Mexican restaurant we've found in Virginia! We'll go back when we are in town again.
