I ordered a few subs today and they were terribly made. The way they filled the sub was awful and when I asked for extra mayo on them it was as if they applied the extra mayo all over the plastic wrap of the sub. I had to wipe it off with a paper towel. They are cheap with the cold cuts so they place the sliced cold cuts over each and then fold it so when you bite into it the everything comes out from the end of the sub. The lettuce wasn't even shredded. and the red onions!!!! Horrible and for being such a well known business. read more

I usually order their specialty Sloppy Joe's; Hot Corned beef, Pastrami, ham, roast beef and turkey. Hot entrée platter specials. Very fast service. Popular; so can be busy. Being a fan of the Sloppy Joe's at Town Hall Deli in Orange, NJ and after passing this place on the way to visit my mother, I decided to give Mr. J's a shot. What a mistake. The place is clean and the guy that waited on me was friendly. The sandwich was not what I expected. Unlike the $24.00 you get at Town, this is regular sized sandwich ($6.00) served between three slices of rye that is then pressed. I ordered two pastrami Joe's threw them in my "hotpack" and headed home. When I got home I grabbed a beer and sat down to enjoy my sandwich, the thing looked good. I took a bite and something just wasn't right. I took another one, maybe the tangy taste was the cole slaw but what ever it was I re-wrapped it and put the sandwich into the fridge. That was at about 6pm, by 1am I was in full-blown distress. I spent the next 2 hours in the bathroom. Fast forward to 10am the next morning. I dissected my sandwiches, remember I bought two of those suckers and discovered that the meat on both had large spots of green. I see that they have some pretty good reviews and since I've only been there once, I'm going to say that maybe my experience was the exception rather than the rule but once was enough for me. read more

Longstanding staple in town, new owners and food remains just as good as we remember it. Ordered a few platters for local business and we had a special order for our Vegans, they agreed to assist and unfortunately there was an error, Called them and they offered to fix it immediately and send out the correction. That is what keeps customers coming back, everyone makes a mistake now and then, we are all human, it is the correction or in some cases the lack that will either keep customers coming or send the looking elsewhere. A platter of sandwiches was ordered from this deli about a week ago: roast beef, turkey, and chicken and red pepper. Pros: The roll ups were tasty and fresh, and the meat was plentiful. Cons: there was little to no dressing which made them quite dry. I also couldn't help but feel frustrated that every single small roll up was wrapped up in plastic wrap. Although I can understand that this might help during prep/cutting and with overall presentation, it's a LOT of wasted plastic and garbage. Also -1 for the delivery guy who straight up laughed and said, "never heard of that one!" when he was asked about allergy menus... really? Nice people here turn around orders very quickly. If you like pickles on your sandwiches this is the place for you. They run a large dill pickle through the meat slicer and layer several think slices on the sandwich. Went here on Monday for sloppy joes, which are reuben-esque sandwiches. They were awesome. Bread is sliced thin enough so that it does not overcrowd the star of the show, the coleslaw and the meat. For the price, I'm not sure there is a better value. I went here on a Sunday morning early because we were leaving town and wanted to get some sandwiches for lunch. The place was empty but we still had to wait for service. We were close to walking out. The person behind the counter had difficulty understanding my order and that was due to a language barrier. We ordered a salami with cheddar and received salami with American. The other two turkey and provolone sandwiches were average at best. The cashier was not warm and fuzzy. I would go back and have their sloppy joes but nothing else. I probably caught them on a bad morning. There are certainly other places in town that make a better sandwich but definitely not a sloppy joe. read more

Was Driving through The Cranford Area One day and decided to Stop here for Lunch.. Let me say "This Deli is Fantastic"!! My First impression was "WOW this deli is Clean as a whistle"! The staff were super friendly and they treated me as if I were the town mayor, or a regular customer that's been going there for years (which is very un-common in this day of age especially being that they were packed with customers) So I ordered the Turkey Joe and let me just say.... O.M.G. It was absolutely Fantastic. Might just of been the greatest sandwich I've ever had from a deli in NJ (and I've been too almost every one ,trust me lol) They also have These "Daily Specials" which all looked Superb as well, but I was way to stuffed to indulge on that day.
