(3/5) I almost didn't try Mr. Kimchi because I'm pretty particular about Korean food. While I'm not Korean myself, I've been around Korean culture and cuisine for most of my life. My partner of 12 years is Korean, and before that I was engaged to a Korean woman whose mother--who lived through the Korean War--made fresh Korean food for me regularly. I also grew up near Oklahoma City's Korean business district and have eaten at many Korean restaurants over the years. With that said, I don't think Mr. Kimchi is trying to be a traditional Korean restaurant, and there's nothing wrong with that. The food is still enjoyable, just different from what I'd expect from a more traditional Korean restaurant. I ordered the stone pot bibimbap. The service was quick, and I was in and out in about 35 minutes. The meal definitely satisfied my craving. One thing that bothered me was the pricing. The menu listed the dish at $15.99, but I was charged an additional dollar because it was served in the stone pot. If that's the case, I think the menu should make that clearer. All of the photos show the dish being served in the stone pot, so I naturally assumed that was included in the advertised price. It isn't a huge amount of money, but unexpected charges never leave a great impression. A few pieces of constructive criticism: * The rice could be stickier and have a better texture for bibimbap. * I'd remove the corn. Every bite that included corn was the least enjoyable part of the dish for me. * The kimchi tasted more like kimchi intended for stew because it was already quite sour. For bibimbap, I'd prefer a fresher, less sour kimchi. * The bulgogi could be slightly sweeter, which is the flavor profile I personally enjoy. Will I come back? Yes, especially because it's convenient and close to my side of town. I'd be interested in trying other items on the menu. However, if I'm specifically craving bibimbap prepared the way I'm used to, I'd probably make the drive to Del City. Overall, Mr. Kimchi has fast service, decent food, and satisfied my craving, but the surprise upcharge and a few issues with the dish kept it at 3 stars instead of 4.

It was great! The flavors were diverse and rich. The menu is small, which I liked. The bulgolgi was the tables favorite.

New restaurant opening this week! Got a chance to try the menu and was very impressed. They have another restaurant and this one is completely different but the theme is the same overall and that is great flavor! The interior is very nice. The portions are perfect in my opinion and there's plenty of flavor. Pricing here is really fair and although they weren't open yet our service was perfect. I definitely recommend this spot, especially in Edmond.

Located in the old spot of Wagyu Japanese. The two of us tried the army stew but was not able to finish it. I like that they served the banchan before the entree was out. But I wish they served the rice when the food is served because by the time our stew was ready to eat, our rice was no longer warm. I like what Mr. Kimchi did to the restaurant. Loved the new booths and paintings on the wall.

Awesome new Korean restaurant with excellent jjajyung myun (black bean sauce noodles, Korean style) and one of the rare places in the OKC metro area to serve it! Korean beverages like Milkis available, KBBQ items, japchae and other fine Korean cuisine offerings as well. Very attentive service and also spacious very stylish and fancy interior - they might also be adding Korean BBQ later also so stay tuned. Highly fecom

Great food and service. Food came out hot and quickly. Kimchi was fantastic. Will be back for sure. A++

Bean sprouts Not good. Not Korean style

If the cook is a Korean their mom would be ashamed. There's no excuse for not being able to make a decent Korean dish here. They have all the ingredients they just don't know how to cook a Korean menu or they don't care. At least go on YouTube and attempt to research what authentic Korean cuisine should be. I had high hopes but was seriously disappointed. I can't cook Korean as good as my wife. But can certainly do a better job than they do. Sad. Just sad because there's so much potential there. On a high note the place was very clean and the service was great. Very friendly. Edmond needs another good AUTHENTIC Korean restaurant, not a fusion. For the right price, I would come help the kitchen get it right. Do better.

I stopped in at Mr Kimchi during their soft opening. The interior is nice but clearly still a work in process. My server was incredibly kind and helped me select something to eat, as it was my first time having Korean food. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken bibimbap, which came in a timely manner and was delicious! The banchan (side dishes) were delivered while I waited for my entree. My only complaint is that my hot oolong tea was served in a cold drink glass, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they are working on that, since it is still their soft opening.

Our waitress was named Liz and was the sweetest ever. She taught us how everything works and checked on us multiple times to make sure we were doing things correctly. My favorites were the galbi and bulgogi, our waitress said those are the most popular. The music was a bit too loud for an intimate conversation but the food was delicious. I'm excited to come back again!

He was the only one hosting, servicing and checking his customers out. We had to refill Our own water cause he wasn't stopping by or grabbing whag we need all at once. There is one Asian lady that is always sooo unhappy looking. I don't understand lol anyways!! Food is bland. They charge extra now for LA RIBS. I WAS LIVID. FOR $30 I can go to WOW KOREAN BBQ UP ON MEMORIAL AND PAY 37 and have unlimited everything. Also not on the all you can eat is ribeye which is $9, spicy baby octopus $10, and shrimp $9. I am soooo confuse. How is LA GALBI not included?! That is literally what makes up klbbq Gangnam use to be SOOO yummy. They changed owner. The old owner opened up the one on memorial called WOW. The menu is huge and food is delicious. I try to give Gangnam another try today w our friends but it was more than disappointing. On top of that, the AC was down. The restaurant took down all the TVs. It just looked sooo depressing and so run down :(( hope they figure it out one day but this will be my last time here

Hands down best kimchi soup I've ever had!…read more We drove up from Lawton for a grocery run and wanted a real meal before making the hour-long trek back home. So glad we skipped the fast-food regret and gave Jjan Pocha a chance instead! The vibe inside is great--K-Pop playing in the background, fun wall graphics and decor (complete with the giant soju frogs), and a super welcoming staff. We were seated immediately, and they brought out cold water right away. Here is the breakdown of what we tried: Kimchi Soup: The absolute star of the show. I haven't been to Korea, but I order kimchi jigae at almost every Korean restaurant I visit, and this is hands down the best I've ever had. Unlike many places that only serve massive family-style portions, this came as a perfect individual size in a piping-hot stone bowl. I was comfortably full halfway through, but I couldn't stop until the bowl was empty. Don Katsu: We've had pork katsu plenty of times, but never served like this with a blanket of super creamy, rich melted cheese on top. Highly recommend. Fried Dumplings: My two-year-old is in a strict "if it's not a lollipop, I hate it" phase, so even though we ordered them for her she refused to touch them, but my husband happily scarfed them down in minutes. I thought they were a solid, classic dumpling. Kimchi Pancake: This was good and had a nice crisp edge to it, though it probably wouldn't be a must-repeat order for me next time compared to the entrees. Overall, the service was fast and incredibly friendly. If you're looking for comforting, authentic flavors and a fun atmosphere in the Moore area, do not miss this spot. We will definitely be back!

Maple Korean BBQ is fine if you don't have any standards. For an AYCE buffet, the portions were TOO…read morebig and you can only order 4 items per round for the bbq. My spouse and I went, so we only had a party of 2. We didn't know that the servings of meats would be so large until after they came to the table, so we didn't get to try anything else. We struggled to even finish the first round since again, there were only 2 of us. We ordered the spicy pork belly, but were brought plain pork belly that did not taste fresh, spicy bugolgi that was off putting, NY steak which was fine, and the steamed egg which was delicious. The cold bar was not at all impressive. Veg included enoki mushrooms, bell peppers, jalapeños, onions, lettuce, sweet potatoes, salad mix and a couple others. There was also disgusting Japchae. Slimy, no veg, barely seasoned. None of the kimchi was good either. Cabbage kimchi was not sour at all, radish kimchi was limp and not at all crisp, cucumber kimchi was shriveled and salty. The sauces and seasonings were fine. Nothing to write home about and definitely nothing to bring me back. The crushed garlic and lemon slices were my favorite parts. I recommend adding something spicy like a chili oil, pepper flakes or Thai chilies. The hot pot was my favorite part, but only after I doctored the broth. The spicy broth was just a grocery store pack of sichuan base (not even spicy) and the clear broth didn't taste like anything. I put vinegar, kimchi, and onion in mine to even make it tolerable. Again, the portions are also too big to try anything other than the first round. We ordered udon noodles, Napa cabbage, one of the beef options, and glass noodles. A whole plate of beef came out, which we also struggled to finish (we ordered the hot pot and bbq meats at the same time so it all came out at the same time.) If you're only coming with two people, I recommend picking one or the other to get your moneys worth. After tax and before tip the total was 95$ for bbq and hotpot without drinks. One round of meats and a mediocre cold/salad bar is not worth that price. My recommendation for the restaurant, provide proper kimchi, expand your sauce/seasoning bar, reduce the portion amount for meats each round so people can try more things and reduce waste, or turn it into a serve yourself buffet type deal. Self serve noodles would've a great addition as well. Now the service. We had to move tables after we let our server know we wanted to do hot pot AND bbq to accommodate a second burner. Not a big deal, just slightly inconvenient. The ordering process was complicated because the hot pot ingredients menu is a piece of paper separate from the bbq menu. The grill wasn't changed for us until after I started taking pictures of everything which was kind of suspicious but whatever. The restaurant wasn't even busy, I shouldn't have to start taking pictures to get better service (which wasn't even the intention). We did not have the best experience. The price for the quality served is not justifiable.
