We were so happy we found this place on a Facebook local good eats review page. It was a convenient stop off the highway coming from New Hampshire. It's in a little Plaza and is a perfect take out (or super casual dine in) spot. The menu for Mac and cheese is vast and super creative. They also have beer available bottled and canned. I had the cheeseburger Mac, favorite part was the pickles! My husband had buffalo chicken. I'm sure we'll be back in to enjoy more on our future coming home adventures from New Hampshire! read more

Mr Macs, makes the most wonderful dinners. The variety is awesome for a Mac&Cheese joint. But the service is marvelous as well. We ate "in", the manager came to our table asking if all was right. I love this place and will continue to eat there as long as I have a mouth. A roommate asked me to pick him up one that was "hot". I choose the hottest. such a wonderful Idea in a kinda random spot! I mean seriously who does like mac n cheese? If you don't I don't think we can be good friends. Quite literally the most comforting thing you can ingest! Mr. Macs excels in the way that they do literally nothing else BUT mac n cheese. So its a really nice, hot, warm meal thats been perfectly executed - EVERY time! Unless you are truly ravenous, stick with the small and eat in. I HAVE at a time of great hunger finished a medium to myself but I did need to be rolled out of there .. it was a sight! Its not the same when you heat it up later - though still quite good, reheated can be dry. It is not the same to say of the dishes you order that can be prepared later in your oven or toaster oven at home. They get it ready and you do the rest with a nice little instruction card. Don't think they pop in frozen pre-prepared stuff.. no way jose. The freshest ingredients go into any of their well thought out preparations or in anything you want to customize. I have been a great fan of the buffalo chicken, the carbonara and the bacon cheddar. But in my most recent visit - I have a new found favorite - the garden veggie. WOW SOOOOOOO fresh So much lighter (if mac n cheese can be lighter) for lunch and it was MOST delightful, prepared with Provolone instead of cheddar.. dang people. This was a fabulous Yelp find when we were in need of a quick, solid dinner on our way back home. There are so many mac and cheese options on the menu that it's almost a bit overwhelming. They have everything you could possibly imagine as an option. It felt almost impossible to make a decision without having the feeling of missing out on another dish. Luckily, the menu guides you as to what size to purchase based on the amount of people eating it. After all, macaroni and cheese is the meal that slides right down. We ended up (finally) deciding on the buffalo chicken macaroni and cheese and the taco. Both were fabulous. We added bread crumbs to the top of the buffalo chicken, and it was the perfect addition. Thanks to Yelp, I found this gem when coming to NH and needed to kill some time before getting to my AirBNB. So delicious!! I love that I could make the blazing buffalo my own with taking out the chicken and adding the shrimp. Honestly, the shrimp wasn't even needed, it was so filling and hearty without it. The small is perfect for one person and fills you up, but I could see where eyes being being than the stomach would come into play with the other sizes. Post-shopping at the Merrimack Outlets got me building up a big appetite. Decided to drive 25 minutes to Mr. Mac's to try their famous mac & cheese. Phantom Gourmet was right - this was a destination place worth driving out of the way for. There were dozens of pre-set varieties to choose from, in sizes S, M, or L, all served sizzling hot in cast-iron skillets. There was a Specials menu (Hawaiian mac and broccoli/cheddar mac), and they also had cold mac salads. Oh, and you can create your own custom mac too. We tried the chicken parm mac and the shrimp scampi mac. I was expecting ordinary Italian pasta dishes with macaroni substitute. To my surprise, they were a harmonious blend of different cheeses and Italian herb sauces - so so good. Don't forget to request the free breadcrumb topping (-1 star for not offering). Definitely eat it fresh on-site; I ordered some take-out to bring back home and it was not as good. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in NH. In an effort to support local businesses and try something new, I ordered take out from Mr Macs last Friday night. I used the online ordering. I just registered for an account, browsed through the menu and paid for the order. Picked up a short time later. So simple. The variety of the menu is great. There are plenty of options including classic mac and cheese. For the more adventurous there is lobster mac, garden veg, jalapeno and lots more. I chose the chicken scampi and it was amazing. It was slightly tangy from the lemon and garlic and the cheese was warm and slightly browned on top. The small was the perfect size for dinner with leftovers for lunch the next day. This is comfort food done right for sure. I am looking forward to trying out more menu items. read more

First time, will try again Stopped for takeout on our way to the hotel. They have a drive-thru window! Not sure why, but found it to be cool to buy Mac N Cheese from a drive thru. I had the Lobster Mac n Cheese and it was very good, plenty of lobster meat in there and the pasta was great. My wife wasn't fond of her Shrimp Mac n Cheese, I tried it as well and she was correct... the shrimp were over cooked. Very rubbery. Mr Mac's is a home run. Not only do my grandsons enjoy it but it gets great reviews when I serve it at our annual family day. One guest looks forward to just that and may be the only reason he joins us. I find ordering and picking up for a dinner when I do not want to cook easy and affordable. Today i picked up a few orders intending to freeze them for a few days thinking that when i put them in a 400 degree oven, if they were infected in any way between freezing and baking, they should be safe. Fantastic, melt-in-your-mouth, swoon-worthy, mac-n-cheese! For the amount of money you pay (around $9) you don't get as much macaroni and cheese as you would at other restaurants. But if you want 'gourmet' comfort food, you'll have to pay a 'gourmet' price as well. The pasta is served in an iron skillet that is still hot to your table. It is a beautiful sight to see the cheese bubbling before your eyes. I got the veggie mac and my friend got the bbq pork mac. The veggie mac was DELICIOUS, it everything I could dream of and more. I am on the fence about Mr. Mac's. The food is inconsistent. Sometimes my cold pasta salad tastes fresh and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the hot pasta dishes are decent and sometimes they aren't. One thing I wish they would do is offer an "adult" mac and cheese. Something that has a really sharp cheese "bite." I think they run the safe route with their dishes. This is the very first place I ate the day I moved to Manchester - I ran across it getting off the wrong exit on I-93 and thought it looked intriguing, an entire restaurant serving just macaroni and cheese? I always get takeout or take-and-bake here, I've never eaten in the restaurant because it's always crazy busy when I go (which is a testament to how good it is). It's a cute little place, not many tables and they're kind of close together so it feels very crowded and gets quite noisy when it's busy. You order and pay at the counter and they bring the deliciousness to your table. Turnaround is pretty fast, around 10 minutes, and the staff is always friendly. A small is just right for one person with a moderate appetite, I'm full when I'm done but not still hungry or overstuffed. My go-to is the Garden Veggie mac with extra mushrooms (fresh mushrooms, not canned - in fact, all the veggies are fresh prepped, not frozen or canned), sometimes I'll have them add bacon which is real freshly cooked bacon, not premade "bacon bits". I've also had the Classic All American which is good, nicely cheesy and gooey, and the Shrimp Scampi which is perfectly garlicky but a tad heavy on the lemon which clashes with the cheese a little bit, but I keep coming back to the Garden Veggie. The Lobstah Mac Salad is great in the summer heat, loaded with big chunks of freshly picked lobster, vegetables, and just the right amount of mayo. The chocolate chip cookies are gigantic and delicious, especially warmed for a few moments in the microwave. I've gotten the gluten free pasta twice and it's been mushy both times, so I've gone back to the gluten kind (luckily, I can do that, I was experimenting with a gluten free diet) which is always perfectly al dente. read more

So many chunks of lobster! I had an entire claw meat! Service wise we absolutely loved the energy of one of the guys this time, his name is Rob. He was welcoming at the counter, hospitable when he brought the food out and when he checked in on us, he helped one of our family members clean their mess off the floor. He's so attentive!! Let's be clear, we are only talking about Mac and cheese. So by definition I can't give them 5 stars.... however because of service attitude and behaviors they deserve 6! The idea of a make your own can be daunting however with 20 assorted menu versions there's a lot to build from. The pulled pork is truly outstanding even though I prefer light sauce. When my nieces and nephew come to town there is no debate where we are headed. And if we are running around, guess who delivers?????? Take and bake is the deal and a half! A small is ample for any normal sized human, nor should one person eat more than that in a serving. There are many items not even on the menu that you can ask for too!! I am an all veggie gal (no fungus) but I have heard even the lobster is delicious. Accommodating isn't even fair, they go above and beyond. Without the ability to add a tip, you know they also must pay a fair wage. And the cash tips are donated. There are very few establishments in today's society that pay well and take care of others. Mr macs does both. I hope they stay around for generations to come.....we will keep eating to do our part!! read more
