Been coming here for years. The service is always very friendly and the dining room is decorated nicely. Today I ordered the pastrami on rye with a side of fries. The sandwich tasted great but was not cut in half which was an issue because the meat was tough in places. The fries were hot and delicious. My only other issue was that staff was mopping around me while I ate. I appreciate a clean business but maybe wait until after the lunch rush so patrons don't have to smell bleach while they eat. I will probably return to try the meatball sub. read more

Using Yelp as my guide I found Mr. Nicks. Needed two Sandwiches, I ordered a Cheesesteak no mushrooms and the Fort Lauderdale Chicken sandwich was mine. Sometimes, you see something, like Italian dressing on the sandwich, the gent who took my order made sure I knew what was on it, in the event I wasn't into something, they made sure I only got what I wanted. Super chintzy on the meat on the sub, menu says 50 cents for cheese, they charged me $1.50 and when I brought it up, they said the prices went up and they just haven't updated the menu yet which is ridiculous, and charged per topping. This place is just awful. I went a few years ago and the quality was terrible and the service was very rude. I haven't gone back until today when I was desperate for a quick lunch. It was a little faster but not much. My suggestion is to call or order online but you may be gambling with the accuracy... overheard two workers talking about forgetting chips in an order and then debating if they would go back and deliver it or just credit the patron for the lack of delivering the chips. I ordered the breading by mistake but was so happy I did! The breading was light so it didn't feel like I was eating tons of excess calories. The ranch dressing was amazing. Stopped by here and split a Philly cheesesteak and an Italian hoagie with a fellow fisherman. Well, the Philly cheesesteak didn't turn out to be anything that would give Pat's or Gino's of Philly much of a run for their money in the taste category and the Italian hoagie sort of missed the high standards for flavor and assembly of ingredients set by our local Laspada's. Indeed on the hoagie the ingredients were just put in, not folded in, which sort of allowed the whole thing to fall apart on you if you were careful when eating it. Mr. Nick's is kind of a neat place though with its open patio, picnic benches and walk up order counter. It sort of exudes that old charm and way of doing things that Fort Lauderdale had in the 50's and 60's. But if you are going here, the parking is extremely limited and the place does pack them in around the noon hour. Price wise, however, Mr. Nick's is tough to beat for what you get. read more

The young woman who took my order was helpful and friendly. I was a little frustrated because it took a little longer than I expected for my sandwich to come out. It eventually arrived and piping hot with lots of melted cheese. It said the sandwich was supposed to have a garlic wine sauce on it but I barely tasted it.
