I have been a customer of this establishment for over 20 years and never had issues with the previous owners. However I recently experienced behavior that I found disrespectful and unprofessional. My daughter and grandkids were having a conversation with the new owner when she told them I was " cheap " for always asking for my receipt. As a professional business owner,she should provide receipts to customers without being asked.she also told them whem i call to place an order she intentionally ignores my call when shes sees my number,regardless of whether the order is large or small. As a loyal,I believe I deserve to be treated with respect.It was extremely rude and inappropriate to make those comments to my children and grandchildren. Because of this experience. I was at a training for work, and decided to try something in the area that I've never eaten before. So I hopped on yelp, and found Pinho's and I'm so glad I did! When I arrived, I was greeted with such a level of hospitality and kindness that is so rare these days! From the staff to the customers who told me that this place was great, and I am going to love it! Pinho's reminded me of a New York Deli slicing the meat right as they're making the sandwich! The toppings were fresh and the bread! OMG! The bread was so soft and fresh. My first experience was so great that I literally ate there two more times that week. They were so on point and the best part was the light fluffy fresh baked bread it was set in and it held together without ever getting soggy and smelled so fresh. I've been there three times now, had different things every time and today I had the best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had. So delicious. The food is absolutely amazing here they're Philadelphia steak and cheese is probably the best I have had outside of Philadelphia and that is saying a lot because I moved away 30 years ago and have tried thousands of cheesesteaks over the years. The flavor is so fresh and tasty and unbelievable. My only complaint is I can only get it Saturday mornings. I wish they had more hours but it is a bakery. I ordered a egg salad on a wrap - I wouldn't recommend getting a wrap since they are not made fresh in house along with all their other bread! My mistake but won't happen again. It was still AMAZING! I just wish I could try their famous bread. My boss is obsessed with the chicken salad sandwich, which was his birthday lunch so you know! The large subs are HUGE but they also offer a smaller size. I've only gotten the subs, but they excellent. They give you a bunch of good options as well to top it off. I usually get mine loaded. The Salami , Turkey & Cheese is my go to... Bread is fresh and the sandwich is huge, well the large that is... I opt for the small because its perfect size for me. The large can definitely feed two. It's a small, unassuming deli/bakery, family run business with friendly staff. I ordered small sub, ham and provolone, adding tomato and black olives. The bread was SOOOO fresh! Glad I got a small one as it was filling! Very tasty with fresh ingredients. Also ordered spinach empanada that was the best I've had since leaving Miami 33 years ago. With Covid restrictions, there were only a few high-top tables so I opted to take food home to enjoy. Customers and staff all wearing masks and line was spaced apart. Slightly chewy crust, with a soft inside, but fork enough to hold up to the fillings. I can say this for sure .... although I'm originally from NJ, I'm generally not one of those "so and so is how it was up nawth" people, but when it comes to a few food related things (pizza, subs, bagels, etc), facts are facts, and eventually speaking, they're just far better up north. But the subs at Pinho's are legit subs. If you're from up north, or are from here and just can't find a good sub, look no further. I first tried this place for a sub, which was really great. Then I switched to an Italian salad and that could feed 2 people easily. Very fresh and very good! I decided to go back for some homemade pies because Publix pies just don't cut it. I got Pumpkin, Apple and Blueberry pies for Thanksgiving and let me tell you to definitely come here for pies. They are reasonably priced for homemade pies and they were phenomenal. We warmed the apple with ice cream. And we have been eating the blueberry for breakfast the past few days. Stopped by for the first time today for a Philly cheesesteak and it's easily the best one I've had down here. Moved from south Jersey about 10 years ago and have been on the quest to find a cheesesteak like up north. The meat was chopped (which I prefer) and not dry at all. A small operation bakery and deli that is worth stopping in any time. I popped in the other day, mostly as it is very close to where I start my day. I didn't know what to expect as I walked in. The interior is stark. A very simple layout that almost seemed that they were at the "soft open" stage. I felt blessed in a way, as most people can end up judging a restaurant by its cover, and this place was so much more. As there was really only one other customer at the time i arrived, I got to my ordering within minutes. I got a few croissants and a mix of empanadas for the office. Being greedy I had one of each. Very good on both accounts. The empanada was a spinach. Tasty and crispy, it was all that I could want. I got the cigar croissant as well. It was very good too, with a nice array of sweetness and almonds scattered across the top. This place reminds me of a NY deli. They have fresh homemade potato salad, tuna and the bakery had some amazing looking goods. Unfortunately we had about six people ahead of us and the potato salad went fast so I didn't get to try it. We were happy to find this great sub spot after the other place we used to go closed. I was very happy with the topping selection which was way more than I was used to but definitely took advantage of! They don't cut the meat in front if you but have it pre portioned in the cooler below. The staff was friendly overall but one person in my group ordered a hot sub which they prepare in the back and my friend noticed the woman handling ready-to-eat food with her bare hands (which he also noticed she had an open wound on her hand). He is overly non-confrontational so he didn't say anything and just threw the entire sub away. I couldn't say anything or he'd be mortified. I'm sure they would have handled it as they seemed nice and accommodating. So this situation essentially killed this spot for us. 5 stars to this place for freshness and service. Going there is pleasant. People working there are friendly and it's never overly crowded. They open at 7 am so you can grab breakfast before work if you want! They have breakfast sandwiches, omelets and a couple other breakfast items. Lunch is good here too. They have great sandwiches, salad, and some hot options like croquettes or things like that. They also have a little bakery section with treats that look delicious. Apparently I forgot to review this place. I'll admit though - I came to this place twice only. And didn't get anything the first time. Why? I came specifically for one thing, and one thing only! Pasteis de Nata. The venerable Portuguese burnt egg custard tarts looks somewhat like a creme brûlée in a tart crust. It's nothing like the Chinese version - the Portuguese came up with it first. The Chinese just tried to copy it after the Portuguese colony Macau exposed them to it. Anyways... in ALL of South Florida, there's only two places that I know where this treat could be retrieved (besides in a restaurant setting at any one of the Portuguese restaurants in Miami). Seabra supermarket in Pompano Beach, and this little bakery run by real Portuguese people. And I'll just say it's good, and thankfully so, considering that there's not really much of an option. It's still not the best I've had - the honor goes to the Pasteis de Belem of Lisboa, in which it's perfectly warm, creamy, tasty on its own, and can be further customized and sweetened by spreading powder sugar and/or cinnamon on top to each person's liking. Here, as in Seabra, it's good on its own as it's already made sweetened. But considering that this place is much closer than Pompano Beach, coming from Miami, this is a great find. Try to come early, and maybe call ahead of time, because they DO run out of them (which is why I wasn't able to get them the first time I visited). read more
