    #3. The Italian Sandwich Lunch
    Jordan C.

Stopped in for take away on a Saturday. Got the pastrami and Italian. The pastrami was better and more packed with meat. Italian wasn't bad, just not as good as the other. Banana pudding was a nice surprise. As a southern woman, I have high bars on BP. This one met my expectations. Classic deli spot. Fresh bread, made to order, customizable ordering and fair prices.

What I like about Papa is that he has the old regular sandwiches but then brings in something new depending on the day of the week. Thursday is great for a heap of warm pastrami. The ice tea is delicious: fruity but not too sweet. Each sandwich is handmade to order. There is no refrigerator of day old sandwiches. Service is usually fast and there are tables to dine. Overall, nice vibes.

    Napkins are small and thin.

It is super nice to have a modest priced deli on Wilton Drive! Most sandwiches are piled high, moist, and delicious. The numerous bread options are artisan-style and very fresh. The average sandwich is about $17 and comes with a VERY small side like coleslaw or potato salad. A pickle is offered too. The food is satisfying. I've tried most of the sandwiches and all are really great. The spicy brisket is my least favorite. It is not the least bit spicy and my meat was a little tough and hard to eat neatly. It should have been shaved thinner. Stick with the pastrami or corned beef. The guys are super friendly even during a lunch rush. The service was perfect. The parking is wonderfully easy. Ten spots exist at the deli and a free city lot (before 6pm) is across the street. The dining room is small and unimpressive. The napkins are small in size and thin. You'll need ten or more of them during your stay. But, the sandwiches are worth the visit!

Potato salad and I had them mix the lemonade and black iced tea for my drink!

Can't believe we have never been here and they said they've been opened for 2 years! My son and so went for lunch and everything was amazing! We had the softest homemade buns (sorry I can't remember what they called them). We decided to get the Tuna salad and the Italian and we live to share so we both had half of each sandwich. Although these sandwiches are big enough to split! We also went with the potato salad which is definitely homemade with mustard, eggs and vinegar...so yummy! They said they sell it by pint and quart I think that's what they said. We definitely will be back!

I'd been looking at this place for a while. We were in the area and the opportunity came up to this place. We were a little worried at first since the parking was totally empty. "Closed ?". Nope they were open. When we walked in and we were greeted by Louie, the friendliest dog I've ever met. We were also happy to see how well kept this place is. As far as service, it's a sub shop, there's not much service, that's not important. What we had, my wife and daughter both had tuna. They both liked it. It was not overloaded with mayonnaise or anything else. Me, I hate tuna, so I had a capicola sandwich with double meat. I probably should have gotten it with single meat, because it was enormous. We all got it with orzo salad and potato chips. The orzo salad was a nice change. The potato chips, I have never had Joe chips before. They were much better than Lays or Wise potato chips. Definitely a great place.

We are always looking for new places to try when we are out East and today we picked Papa Duke's. When we drove up, we weren't sure if they were open as there wasn't a single car in the parking lot, but the neon OPEN sign was lit, so we took our chances and parked and walked in. We were greeted, unexpectedly, by Louie. Louie is a very calm sweet dog who planted himself under the Christmas tree that is still displayed. We were a little taken aback that there was a dog hanging out, but we didn't mind. At first glance we still had some doubts. I decided to get a tuna on rye with provolone, my daughter had tuna on the soft Italian roll with provolone & cucumbers and my husband had some type of meat sandwich on the soft Italian roll with double meat. We all opted for the orzo salad and got a bag of chips. I got a traditional (retro), my husband got Jalapeño and my daughter had sour cream & onion. I got a Joe's half & half tea. We loved that they had a different brand of chips and there was something for everyone. Our total bill came out to $65 (which included tax & a small tip) - although honestly other than ringing us up & making our sandwiches we did self clean up and carried food to the table ourselves. I liked the tuna. I have read a few other reviews where it was indicated at too salty or not enough seasoning or not enough Mayo. Tuna is hard. I am not always a fan of eating it at a restaurant. I found the Mayo level to be perfect. I hate wet drippy tuna. You can always add more Mayo, but you can't take it away. The sandwich was huge. Both my daughter and I took home 1/2 the sandwich. I was super excited that they had rye bread that was WITHOUT seeds. The bread was super fresh and soft. We all had the orzo salad. Definitely a nice change of pace from the typical Cole slaw (yuck), potato or macaroni salad most places offer. While we were there several more people came in. One couple stayed and the others were take out. The eating area was clean and the service was friendly. I would definitely return to try some of the specialities.

With the convertible top down, Beloved got me into his classic Porsche and took me to Papa Duke's Deli in Wilton Manors. Located behind the Dairy Queen, it has good off-street free parking. Papa Duke's is a small counter-order deli with maybe six small tables for seating. Its menu is rather small too but with the usual deli suspects like corned beef or their signature build your own of Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, Salami, Capicola, Pepperoni, Hummus, or made to order Tuna or Chicken Salad with choices of American Cheese, Provolone, Swiss, or Havarti. They also have a board over the order counter with other listed items. I went for the hot pastrami with provolone and a side of Orzo salad with sundried tomato, fetta, fresh basil, and white balsamic. The pastrami was lean, well stacked, and some of the best tasting and most flavorful I've ever found. And the orzo salad with its vibrant-tasting sundried tomatoes was super good. Beloved went for their Italian with pepperoni, salami, capicola, ham, provolone, sweet and hot peppers, onion, and Papa Duke's Dressing. I tried it too and likewise with Beloved can only say OK as I believe we are both spoiled by the Italian hoagies of Laspada's. The proprietors of Papa Duke's are super friendly as well as attentive to any special needs or wants, making the place a pleasure to be at.

Grabbed to go an order the other day, take some food on the boat, and must say the meat was very fresh, the roll was great, and the chicken salad was delicious. My partner got a wrap that was just a little runny and ripped thru the bag. Very helpful service at the register and chef was easy to order with. Only dining inside with a limited seating area. Will Def come back an try again. Can't wait

The sandwiches arrive like legends overstuffed, unapologetic, and bursting with flavor. One bite and you're transported straight to your grandmother's kitchen, where the secret ingredient was always love... and yes, a generous whisper of schmaltz. This is the kind of place where the taste of grandmother's cooking triumphs over pretty furniture every time. Who needs chandeliers when the corned beef sings? And then, the matzo ball soup pure poetry in a bowl. Golden, comforting, restorative. It warms not just your body but something deeper, something older. One spoonful and you pause, the second makes you smile, and by the third you are quietly plotting your return. It doesn't just satisfy it calls you back, like a melody you didn't know you missed. The room itself feels like a well-loved novel soft around the edges, rich with character, inviting you to linger. No noise, no nonsense, no pretension. Just the gentle rhythm of conversation, the turning of newspaper pages, and the universal language of people enjoying honest food. The staff are not just servers they are stewards of tradition. Warm, attentive, and proud, they carry forward something increasingly rare: care without pretense, hospitality without script. And here is the truth this is not a place you visit just once. This is a place you return to, again and again. Because like a fine old wine, it reveals itself differently each time. One visit you fall in love with the soup, the next with the sandwich, and then with the feeling... the unmistakable sense that you've found something real. For those who appreciate old-fashioned, no-nonsense, deeply satisfying food give this place not one try, but many. Let it unfold slowly. Let it remind you what food used to be, and still can be. Tucked among louder, shinier distractions, NY Marina Deli stands quietly, confidently, and deliciously apart. And as they say, "Mit a bissel schmaltz un a sakh libe, ales schmeckt besser"with a little schmaltz and a lot of love, everything tastes better. Here, that isn't just a saying... it's the whole menu, the whole spirit, the whole joy. Josepienknagura@gmail.com
