    shrimp tempura (10pc) roll
    Dan C.

We were disappointed to learn they no longer have a happy hour. We each got a cucumber saketini which is a light refreshing cocktail. We got the tempura shrimp roll and a 2 piece order of nigiri sushi. Both were excellent. We felt claustrophobic in the sushi bar, a small room behind closed doors. All the employees were welcoming and service oriented.

Date night was sushi at Mr. Nobu's in south Tulsa! It was our first visit to the establishment, and it will now be our "go to" sushi place. From the drinks to the shrimp tempura appetizer and delicious sushi rolls, everything was wonderful! Service was quick, attentive, but not rushed. We were glad we found this hidden gem, and highly recommend!

What a nice restaurant! We made a reservation through OpenTable and were seated right away. Our server, Phong (I believe that's his name), was kind and attentive. The space itself is small and intimate, which added to the cozy atmosphere. Phong took the time to walk us through the menu, and I really appreciated the QR code that links to photos of the dishes! We started with the crispy lotus root and shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura was great, but the lotus root didn't stand out for me. Phong recommended Mr. Nobu's omakase, and we were surprised. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We were worried it might be basic, but it included bluefin tuna, scallop, and other high-quality selections. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience!

Ryu Roll. Very good with a spicy kick.

The service was wonderful. MAKE RESERVATIONS! The food was delicious, although The Disco Roll was spicier than we expected. The dining room was simply decorated. The fresh rose on the table was a pleasant touch and the room was noisier than we were hoping for, but at least there weren't 10 TVs playing sports! Had a great date night with my wife. We'll definitely go again. Next time we'll check out the Sushi Bar!

Disclaimer: I love Japanese food. I am from the Bay Area. I have been to Japan. I have eaten my way through quite a bit of Japanese restaurants including the very, very, very expensive omakase places. I was very tempted to give this place 2 stars but them trying, staying all Japanese (instead of serving multiple other Asian cuisines), and being one of the few omakase offering joints, I increased the rating to 3 stars. Even though I was tired from work, I knew I had to attend their grand opening which was quite disappointing to say the least. FOOD: - I ordered the house salad (I have always found that the dressing always reveals the personality of Japanese restaurants and NO there are NO tomatoes are shown in the pictures online) for $4, the classic rainbow roll for $19 to try as many of their offered toppings and raw fish, and spider roll for $10 as it's a classic and not many can truly hit the right texture and flavor profile. The Good // - fish is fresh - avocado is green - the rice is cooked and not rock hard or crunchy - the wasabi is not neon green - the ginger is natural and not the pink kind - water is refreshing and does not taste like tap water The Ugly // - the salad dressing is SOOO sour - they just used iceberg lettuce mix that you pull off the shelves - the sushi rice was so sticky (properly made and made well should melt and fall in your mouth... it shouldn't hurt your jaw to chew or digest); therefore, this itself destroyed the enjoyment of the sushi rolls - strange how you have to ask for wasabi and ginger instead of just arriving on the plate... I guess they are just trying to save on food costs? - disappointing with how they are striving for high end Japanese food, yet no natural wasabi is used or offered SERVICE: - I think this is the only restaurant post covid that I have seen to take the time to wipe down each menu with a Clorox/Lysol wipe (major brownie points!) - multiple servers - nice but reserved - crazy you have to ask for everything and coincidentally this happens when they are not present or have their backs turned - slightly offended they gave me a fork for the salad... - slightly annoying how they treat those who order a ton of food loads better than those who just want to taste the food (offering dessert, chef comes out, owner comes out, etc.) - owner is a Caucasian guy AMBIENCE: - very romantically and darkly lit so much so you cannot clearly see your food - it's not very relaxing... it feels very stern, very stuck up, and as if you always have to be on your toes since you have the feeling you are always being watched - love the modern decor, decor similarly seen in all high end Japanese restaurants PARKING / LOCATION: - when you call the number they call you with (I had a reservation for 9pm but they called me asking if I could do earlier), I called this same number and it leads me to the Mexican restaurant next door - there's a ton of pot holes in the parking lot - lots of parking and empty spaces Will I come back? I originally really wanted to come back when I saw they offered omakase. But after this experience, I feel I wasted a ton of money and am super disappointed.

My husband and I went to Mr. Nobu's for the first time Sunday evening. I had the house salad, dressed eel (my favorite), dressed akami (very close second), and dressed maguro. He had all that and the Tulsa Roll. Our server was fantastic. The food was excellent. Zero complaints. We will be back. 10/10 recommend if you are a sushi fan.

Sushi was great!! Quality of sushi tastes great. Server was sweet. Gave great suggestions! I love how many tables they are able to get in without feeling overwhelmed. Atmosphere was fun and active when we went.

Atmosphere and Service Mr. Nobu's atmosphere is a refined blend of simplicity and modern design. The interior pairs classic red, black, stone, and wood with well-spaced, comfortable tables. Neon signage adds a contemporary edge, while koi fish and cherry blossom motifs bring in traditional charm. It's elegant and rooted in wa--perfect harmony. A hidden door leads to a traditional sushi bar, offering an elevated omakase experience that may be among the finest in Oklahoma. excellent service was provided throughout the evening. Dining Mr. Nobu's sushi rice is the best in Oklahoma and matches the likes of Mako in Chicago, Crab Cakes The first test came with the dreaded eel sauce and extra spicy mayo--and Chef Snow nailed it. Golden brown, delicately crisp on the outside, the crab cakes delivered a layered bite: soft, sweet crab melting into a creamy spice, then finishing with a bold jalapeño smoke that lingered just long enough. Americanized, yes--but rendered with skill and respect. Crispy Lotus Root Visually striking and texturally complex. The lotus root provided a sturdy crunch, while the tuna tartare blanketed the bite with velvety richness. Each element had purpose--the black garlic soy and hatch chili sauce offered smoky depth, while the roasted shishito hinted at bitter earth. A compelling bite with a surprise touch of char that kept pulling me back. Hamachi Sashimi Thinly sliced yellowtail presented beautifully, though the ponzu veered too acidic, drowning out some of the fish's more delicate flavors. That said, the jalapeño slice added a welcome kick, and the roe brought necessary texture and saline pop. A dish that came close--but ultimately leaned too far toward boldness at the cost of balance. Volcano Roll An American classic, elevated. The spicy mayo was used with restraint, allowing the seafood--scallop, crawfish, mussel--to show through. Each bite was warm, creamy, and rich, but still let the texture and flavor of the shellfish speak. Easily one of the most successful volcano rolls I've had in Tulsa. Dressed Nigiri Part of the omakase plate, each piece was thoughtfully composed. The otoro was a marvel--unctuous, rich, and nearly A5 wagyu in mouthfeel, coating the tongue in silken harmony. The chutoro was lifted with lemon zest and shiso, bringing brightness and lift to an otherwise buttery bite. The hamachi and mauro were well-prepared, but the hotate was overwhelmed by fiery yuzu kosho, masking the scallop's gentle sweetness. Still, overall, an impressive display of technique and restraint. Shrimp Boat Visually dramatic, this dish promised indulgence and delivered--almost. The firm shrimp, quail egg, and roe made for an engaging, layered texture. Unfortunately, the aggressive acidity from ponzu and Tabasco overwhelmed the palate. Matcha Tres Leches Silky, creamy, and visually appealing, this dessert leaned toward familiarity over innovation. The three-milk base was well-balanced and not overly sweet, but the matcha and coconut played only supporting roles. A dusting of matcha added just enough bitterness to lift the bite, but the overall effect was more restrained than memorable. Yuzu Cheesecake Bright and beautiful, this cheesecake was a standout. Notes of citrus cut through the richness with precision, while nutty sesame at the base added grounding texture. Each bite shifted gracefully from tart to creamy to toasty, making for one of the most thoughtfully constructed well composed cheesecakes in Tulsa. Sake Crème Brûlée The custard was velvety and perfectly set, with subtle sake notes warming the finish. A whisper-thin brûlée shell cracked delicately under the spoon, giving way to a creamy core that lingered with elegance. Refined, precise, and genuinely memorable.

Best sushi in Tulsa Everything was fresh my partner LOVED the nigiri said his favorite was the flounder and compared it to the sushi in Denver. The hamachi jalapeños had the best kick and was so soft. The crab cakes were crispy ob the outside and warm on the inside. Would def order both again. New favorite sushi spot for sure. It's nice and quiet and all the servers were very knowledgeable on all the fish and pairings! Must try for sure

It's a small place but the sushi was excellent! We were visiting from Phoenix where we have some pretty good sushi. This place killed it! Don't find too many places that do uni shooters! Loved them! The toro is a must! Wish I could go every week!

Every restaurant and place of business can do that with ease. That shouldn't call for us to be disrespected. It makes zero sense. Zero. We were respectful, pretty, and paid! We weren't "loud, ghetto, or any (special choice of words)". So with that being said, if you're brown, we're not welcomed there!!! This holds serious weight. This did happen. Yet and still, there are few restaurants that consistently deliver on 3 of the most important consumer qualities: ambiance, food, and service. As a local Asian Fusion restaurant that embraces both cuisine and ambiance, Roka sets itself apart from most Asian restaurants with their cutting-edge menu items, inviting happy hour deals and consistent service. I didn't eat out often growing up but I vividly remember passing Roka & fantasizing what it's like inside given it's one of a kind design. I was first impressed by their fried rice when ordering out in 2015 but this review is regarding my visit on October 25th, 2025. A dear friend of mine invited me out on a Saturday and I suggested Roka, one of the most reliable restaurants in town. We arrived around 4pm and, to my surprise, there was plenty of seating available. We were sat by the host and our server came shortly after. I can't recall her name but she did have great suggestions and delivered quality service. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken (reg) while my friend ordered the Sweet & Sour (sm.). The meal arrived in almost record time! I was delighted to look at our colorful, carefully assembled, plates. My meal had a considerable serving size and an even better taste. The chicken was soft, tender and juicy. With compliments from the peppers & rice, I couldn't have been more satisfied. My friend (who is picky) wasn't a fan of the mix of peppers & pineapple but I think she liked it more than she cared to admit. Overall, I had the most pleasant afternoon at Roka thanks to the everpleasing service and most tranquil of settings. It's important to show appreciation to the institutions that you enjoy, which is why I will continue to support/enjoy! Roka provides a welcoming venue, satisfactory menu items and superb service upon every visit which sets itself apart from most other Asian restaurants and above chains like P.F. Changs or Hibachis. If you're in the mood for an affordable upscale dinner with great vibes, this is the place to visit.
