Stopped by Mr Pimento tonight to get the jerk Mac and cheese. It was so flavorful and cheesy. The spicy jerk sauce that was orange was good too. The food truck is cute and clean with seating all around the venue. We can't wait to come back and try the oxtail!

Fantastic chicken. Juicy, flavorful and didn't need a knife. Friendly crew. Definitely would come back for the combo bowl with mac and cheese. Luckily weather was breezy too!

Mr. Pimento has officially earned a permanent spot in my rotation and is hands down my new go-to for Jamaican food in North Austin. Chef Clay's service was exceptionally kind, thoughtful, and welcoming; you can feel the care with each bite (and sip). The Hibiscus Cucumber Smash was beyond refreshing and the perfect complement to the meal. The food was authentic Jamaican cuisine with a fresh, healthy twist... bold, balanced, and absolutely delicious. I would've included a photo of my Half and Half Bowl, but it was devoured rather quickly! Needless to say, I can't wait to return.

Absolutely delicious!! We got the oxtail special, Clay said it's offered every 2 weeks now only through preorders but man was it worth it! We also got the sweet plantains and it was so good. We will definitely be back!

    Patio area, plenty of seating!

Right off the bat, the owner of this place saw us looking at the menu and wanted to help us make the right decision. He explained his take on quality driven Jamaican Food and was really hospitable and easy going. Food was flavorful , balanced, had ingredients that made you feel good: beans, slaw, rice, and of course the delicious jerk chicken-- the meal was non greasy, light and rich, and the Jerk chicken was the star (Mac was delicious too) . Was such a great meal after my 16 mile run. As for ambiance, open seating was great, weather was perfect, and owner, Clay, was beyond genuine. Mikey

Mr. Pimento's Jamaican Food Truck at the Pink Flamingo Food Truck, next to The Water Tank off McNeil, is delicious! Shout out to Clay, Mike, and Sean for the excellent hospitality and making us feel like part of the family. The bowls are excellent, and it is tough to choose my favorite. I'd maybe suggest the half and half to get rice and mac 'n cheese. I'm a sucker for sweet plantains and these are so tasty. Get an empanada too, your taste buds will thank me. Also, you need to get their hibiscus drink. The food isn't spicy too accommodate everyone but there are ways to make it spicy with their sauces. Thanks for a great lunch!!

Mr pimento recently moved to North Austin where they're now located at the pink flamingo food court. They also revamped their menu so that you can customize your bowls based on your taste. I got to try the island rice bowl and the mac & cheese bowl, which comes with your choice of protein, toppings, and sauces. You can also order sides like a Jamaican beef patty, plantains, and wings. Overall, I think the chicken has amazing jerk flavor and the mac n cheese is really good! They have outdoor picnic tables and there's plenty of parking. They are friendly too, you can tell they're passionate about their work.

A great meal indeed. A truck stationed in a easy to access parking lot area operated by two cool brothers! The service was friendly and smooth they give you a pager to let you know when you're order is ready too. The jerk was kicking with spice and flavor and to balance it all out the fire Mac n cheese! I ordered 2 orders of jerk chicken and killed it all! Definitely a must try when in Austin. Also it's located near a food mart if you want drinks to pair with your meal!

Finally got to try Mr. Pimento at the Buzz Mill for dinner on a Wednesday night. It's a jerk kitchen with a lot of flavor! Overall I liked the food a lot (ate almost every bite, and others were reaching in for a try too). The Food: - jerk mushrooms with the big up fries - wish the ratio of mushrooms was a little heavier because I had a few more fries than mushrooms left. little heavy on the sauce and the charred flavor, if you're looking for that to cover any mushroom flavor - jerk chicken: a little less sauce, little more meat-flavor focused - has to be the best seller - Plantains: crunchy on the edges, softer in the middle, a little sweet, fried and warm - my favorite part Thank you to the team at Mr Pimento for the kindness and the food! I'll be back for my next craving.

We also ordered the flan de queso and rum raisin ice cream. We found the ice cream disappointing... the ice cream felt like a soft serve just topped with raisins and rum. My mum has always loved this flavour and she did not enjoy it too much. From speaking with Tony Jr. today, they also have a restaurant in Pflugerville. I ordered jerk chicken, which fell off the bones and came with cabbage, rice and peas and plantain. I have traveled to Jamaica a couple of times, this Jamaican food was the real deal. The jerk chicken was a bit spicey but not set your tongue on fire spicey. The rice and peas along with the cabbage was perfectly seasoned. The standout for me was the sweet plantain, spoken like a plantain connoisseur. The plantain was sweet on the inside and slightly charred on the outside...perfect combination. The only improvement would have been for me to get a side of plantain. My food was delivered fast and hot. Tony Jr. was super personable and friendly. There is seating in the center of the food truck park. You hear tunes being played in the background. The food truck park is at the core of East Austin in a semi-residential area. Street parking is available for diners. I look forward to trying curry goat and oxtails and more.

I went for a regular oxtail plate with gungo rice and plantains. Overall I liked it! The oxtail was tender and delicious, the sauce had a nice mix of smoke, sweetness, and a tiny bit of heat. For a regular (as opposed to their large) size plate it felt like a good amount of oxtail I thought based on the description the gungo rice would have a more prominent coconut taste but it was pretty typical Jamaican peas and rice. The star of the plate was the oxtail and the sides don't really factor into my review unless it really stands out in one direction or the other Overall I'd definitely recommend giving them a try and will absolutely be back here to try more of their menu

We decided to eat at Bikkle, close to the University of Texas at Austin on Guadalupe Street. Bikkle is known for its authentic Jamaican cuisine such as jerk chicken, oxtails (hard to find anywhere anymore) and curry goat. Between the four of us, we ordered jerk chicken, curry goat, and curry chicken. We all went for red beans and rice with cabbage. All dishes came with plantain, which is one of my favorites. Having been to Jamaica a couple of times, I can report out that this food is authentic! The flavors were swirls of goodness in every bite. The food was also warm when served. We also ordered jerk chicken egg rolls. Just think about that concept for a minute. The jerk chicken egg rolls were exceptionally good. The highlight for me was the curry goat. First, you do not find goats on many menus. The curry goat was tender and oh so flavorful. Some pieces had associated fat. All in all, everyone was happy with their meals. During our dinner, only one person was serving customers. She was super friendly and personable. I must think she was overworked as the stream of customers came in. Now for the décor...if you walked in and looked only at the counter, you would have thought it was a "to go" restaurant only as many "to go" containers were stacked high on the counter. Only one other couple sat down and ate in the restaurants and most folks were picking up their food to go. Even the people eating inside the restaurant were served in "to go" containers. The inside is minimalist with no ornate furnishings and yellow walls, projecting a Caribbean feel. Recommend adding a bit more Jamaican artifacts such palm trees, Jamaican flag, surfboard, etc. It would be a great spot for students, friend meet ups and a causal date night... Bikkle Jamaican Restaurant it was great and represented authentic Jamaican food well! We definitely will be returning.

While the kitchen definitely knows how to bring the flavor, the rest of the experience was less than exceptional. When we walked in, I asked the staff for their local favorites. I expected them to say jerk chicken, but they immediately suggested the oxtail. It felt a little bit like they were trying to clear out the fridge, but we decided to be adventurous and ordered both the oxtail and the chicken anyway. With two sodas, the total came out to about $50. The counter help seemed not overly enthusiastic about us being there, but we drove a distance to get here. The first thing we noticed was the lighting--or lack thereof. It was so darkly lit inside that it felt a bit gloomy, almost like they were trying to save on the electric bill. When our food arrived in plastic boxes, the presentation was a bit of a mystery. It looked messy and "muddy" on the plate, to the point where I didn't even snap a photo. You definitely have to trust the process here because it doesn't look like a gourmet presentation. The food does taste good. Once we closed our eyes and dove in, the kitchen totally redeemed itself. The flavors were surprisingly authentic and very close to what I love about Jamaican cooking. The meat was super tender and full of flavor, the rice was nicely seasoned, and the fried plantains were a sweet, and delicious. Tony's has a ton of potential because the chef clearly has skills. BUT, for $50, I do wish the restaurant had a bit more energy, brighter lights, and prettier plating. Personally, I feel as though their prices are a little steep for what you get. If you don't mind a super casual, dark atmosphere and messy presentation, the tasty seasoning makes it worth a try.
