Nothing in the area hits the spot quite like this place. The food here reminds me of the food back home in Colombia. Try the bandeja paisa if you're looking to for something to fill you up. The empanada are delicious, so many different flavours. Don't be afraid to try something knew. Colombia is know for its assortment of fruits, this place has a lot of juice flavours to offer. I live in the area and have driven by Mr. Pollo for about 2 years now and finally decided to stop by - I am so glad I did. They have such fantastic food! I tried their carnitas super taco and the carne asada quesdalla and both were fantastic. It was so good that I brought my wife with me later on the same day and we ordered the empanadas and arepas - so GOOD! We also ordered the shrimp arepa and it was fantastic as well. The food, the service, everything was so good, I felt compelled to write this review. We'll definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu! read more

Arepa and whatever the other thing was on the Columbian side of the menu, with platano as the starch. The veggie version was delish, the onions full of flavor. Glad I haven't lost all my Spanish as I don't know if we could have ordered in English from the very sweet woman who was doing it all. This place is dirty and run down. The food is bland. The food is so bland it is forgettable. The thing that soured the whole experience is I asked for waters and the guy brought bottled water without asking. Just upcharged water without consent. Been coming to this place since it was originally in the Mission district near 24th st like 10 years ago. It's like the only place these days in the Bay Area I can get some Good Colombian food. If you like Arepas they sell the best I especially like the Arepas de Huevo also I like to get the Arepas Relleas or stuffed Arepas the Empanadas are good as well. We came in and though our order was simple, it took a long time to get our food. The plates and silver ware were not clean. The chicken in my arepas was tough, like it had been cooked then reheated, and the pieces were not butchered well. My boyfriend's meal also had pieces which we could tell were not freshly cooked. While I like the arepas here, I cannot continue to come back. This place needs a good spring cleaning, a dishwasher, and someone who is cooking food fresh upon order. Excellent empanadas. Particularly impressed with the ají, which had some deep green chile flavors. I'm not really familiar with ají's from Boyaca, this one seemed almost like a blend of a Mexican salsa verde and the ají I'm used to. Will be back for a more thorough look over the menu. read more

Garbage. It's Sunday. There's no food in the fridge so I decide to walk across the street and get some food. Granted I used to go here until the change of ownership from Romo's to Aguila De Oro 2. I had been there once after the ownership change but didn't return after i got stale rice. I gave them another chance. afraid at the rice I just got a bacon cheeseburger. Apparently the register wasn't working so the lady used a calculator. I don't know if that broke too or she didn't know how to use it and eventually rounded off my tab to $9 flat of a cheeseburger, fries and an horchata. I gave her a $20 and she gave me $9. I am no math major but I thought 20 - 9 = 11. I recounted my money and eventually was awarded my other $2 back after the lady checked her math and saw that 9 + 9 = 18. A long wait later I got my burger and took it home. When I opened it up the top bun was missing a small piece off the edge. I don't want to know how, I just hope a rat didn't nibble on it. The lettuce was toasted. I'm no chef but I thought you couldn't cook lettuce. The fries were still raw but hey, at least they weren't burnt. The only was I could manage to eat them was with ketchup. It may not sound bad to you but I haven't ate fries with ketchup in 15 years. The horchata was ok. nothing special. 1 star. read more

If you don't know Columbian food, you haven't yet begun the transformation into a true foodie. The subtle balance of spice and flavour had the Absolutely Smart and Sexy Man (ASSM) and I racing for the last morsel of Arroz con Pollo from the plate. The presentation of his food is fabulous, the price is always right and the corkage fee for your best beverage is totally affordable (read free). The ASSM knows how to entice me into a food adventure, we were not disappointed here. Not knowing Columbian food but being oh so wise, the ASSM asked for recommendations. Out came some of the most succulent dishes I have had in the guise of "let's eat Mexican food". The owners enthusiasm for his food is as rich as his dishes, he gave the ASSM samples of different things and his business card for his other restaurant, Mr. Pollo, so that we could call him for his yucca specialty on the weekend. I ordered Maracuya juice (which was very delicious) & of course Bandeja Paisa.
