Best German food ever !!! -…read moreNo complaints - Spatzle is perfect Bratwurst is amazing , The owner is more than personable and doesn't yell at her employees we've been there multiple times , it's just her tone of voice because she's a happy person . - German quality is 1000%

There was a nice feel to the room as it was not too loud. A great ambiance. We were given our choice of a couple of tables when we arrived. The service was okay. For appetizers my husband had the goulash soup and I had Hunter Spatzle. My husband said his soup was not as flavourful as he was expecting. My spatzle was supposed to have a mushroom gravy on it but there was not much gravy and the spatzle was not well drained. For entrees my husband had zigeuner schnitzel and I had the sole with baby shrimp and Riesling sauce. The schnitzel is very thin as opposed to the thicker cuts that are served at most Bavarian restaurants that we have gone to. It was very tender but my husband was disappointed with his meal as he prefers the thicker piece of pork. The sauce was just all tomatoes and he said it was very bland and not very interesting. My sole was good but not exceptional. We were going to have dessert but by the time our server came to ask if we wanted dessert we had lost interest. It is a beautiful room, the prices are average but overall we found the food was not to our liking. The ladies washroom was out of toilet paper. Awkward.

Started going to this place when I lived here in 2010-12. It's fantastic. After I left it went…read moreunder new ownership (which I found out last time I ate here after not eating here in almost 13 years) and it's every bit just as good if not better than before. This is literally the only food review I've ever done on this app...it's possible there are a few others but I certainly haven't in over 10 years I'd thing. Anyways, do yourself a favor and eat here. Get a reservation to lock it in. Enjoy. Literally think about this stuffed schnitzel in my dreams.... It's amazing...you won't be sad you tried it...

This is a wonderful old school German/Austrian style restaurant. The type of place my German father…read moresought out when I was young and it certainly brought me back. The potatoes on the side were made with German speck and taste exactly as I knew them. The portions were hearty and we all cleared our plates without question. While there's no dedicated children's menu, a standard schnitzel should satisfy most kids palates, mine loved the spaezel and the charcuterie board was devoured by adults and children alike. The breads are very European, such as rye. Not for everyone, but fresh and tasty. What I really appreciated here was the owner making his rounds, having conversations with his regulars, making new customers feel welcomed and keeping traditions alive. You don't get that so often anymore, it's more about creativity, fusion, new, ratings etc. This was a traditional experience with delicious food and I will definately be back. Be warned, they're popular so you'll need to book in advance and they're old school, so call and leave a message! Worth it!

If you've ever been to a Stube in Germany, you'll know that walking into the Deutsches Haus…read morerestaurant downstairs can really make you feel like you're back in Germany (or Switzerland or Austria). The wooden furniture and decor gives that homey vibe. Unfortunately, with COVID, when we ate their recently, we were moved to their other room for dinner. Regardless, we still had a nice time. They have changed their hours to only open on weekends which might interrupt some of your plans. We came on a slow night so had great service! The Deutsches Haus has dark beers on tap like Erdinger Dunkel, and Krombacher Dark which feels hard to find in the city. In addition, they have so many other German beers on tap! For dinner the other night, we had the Jagerschnitzel, Schnitzel Vienne, and Schnitzel Munich - they also have a chicken schnitzel for those who don't eat pork. All of them are served with a variety of different sides so it really depends what you feel like - potatoes? Spaetzle (egg noodle)? Cranberry sauce? Rotkraut (red cabbage sauerkraut)? We enjoyed all of our meals with our fantastic beers and were completely stuffed by the end of it. Surprisingly, we still had room though for German Cheesecake, because.. well, come on. Who can resist? While the homey vibe of the real restaurant is gone, the food was still great and the services as well.
