A variety of sweets and pastries but the thing to get is the Cinnamon Records. It's a crispy flaky pastry with a touch of cinnamon. It's HUGE and only cost $5.
Located in the Granville Island Public Market, the mouthwatering display of the baked goods drew me close. They have poppyseed hamantaschen which is odd to have all-year round because it is specific to the Jewish holiday of Purim, but like anything, if it is available people will buy it. And I am one of those folks who will eat it any time. Prices seem reasonable and service was polite.
Delicious bagels. I loved the viral garlic bread. It was addicting..delicious and was eaten relatively quickly when brought to a party. Can't go wrong with this place. I always end up taking home something. Everything is soft fresh and delicious. Also the bread stay fresh and soft for 3 days (if it lasts that long) without affecting its taste.
We're in love with the chocolate mousse cake from Stuart's Bakery. Truthfully, we havn't tried very much else from their bakery besides their chocolate mousse cake. It's one of our favorite chocolate mousse cakes anywhere. It can also be found at Max's Deli on Oak St. at 16th as they are a sister shop to Stuart's Bakery. It's so smooth, chocolatey and decadent. There are lots of nice treats to be found on Granville Island but I think this chocolate mousse cake is always going to be #1 for us! Located in Granville Public Market, Stuart's Bakery has attracted many tourists and formed a long line. We got hot cross bun, blueberry scone and nut & seed brittle. They displayed their baked goods really well and we were tempted to buy everything. However, the baked goods were just okay. Touristy price and mediocre quality. Totally skippable. Save room for better food in the market.
Located in the center of Granville Island's Public Market, this bakery has something for everyone. Chocolate croissant was huge with tons of chocolate both inside and out, and fruit tarts were covered with fresh juicy berries and sweet cream. It can get super busy especially since I feel like only one guy works there doing everything, but it's worth the wait!
Of all the many varieties of baked breads, pastries, cookies and tarts, we love the granola the best. We always get a couple of pounds every visit, and they get consumed fast!

He reached out to me after my review and offered to either refund me for the item I was charged but did not order in the first place or replace it with another item. I happened to be in Granville Island getting the Thai food (Sen Pad has legit Thai food!) and decided to drop by. Masa was apologetic about the new staff's inability to do the reverse charges then and was most kind in helping me choose what items to try. I asked for what would be good as I really did not want to get something which would be disappointing again. I thought it would just be one item to replace what I did not order but to my surprise, I was given 4 items to try. That was really unexpected but very much appreciated. That certainly delighted me in terms of the service. Sometimes excellent service can trump a negative experience. He totally recommends the cheesecake. Unfortunately I am the weird one who do not like cheesecake much. I do have quite an exacting palate especially for desserts. I am also very partial to the French style of patisserie which I think this place is not. So others may really enjoy the baked goods here. In the end, I decided to try the granola which is apparently popular with customers. Then Masa added the key lime tart, tiramisu and cinnamon record for me to try. I thought I would be paying for the tart and tiramisu but nope, they were on the house. I was told the cinnamon record was best to eat on the same day. It was freshly made that day. This time I could break it off easily and taste it better. It was really good! Flaky, buttery with a hint of saltiness. I can see why this is a crowd favorite. The key lime tart was decent. It had a slight tang which was not overpowering. As I had better key lime pie elsewhere (A Pie Hole), this did not wow me much. The tiramisu was also good. I was worried it would be on the dry side but no, the ladies fingers were soaked at the bottom. I would get this again. The granola was not bad. I liked the nuts but they were not very crunchy like other places. It was still ok though. Now I found something here which I could get in future -- tiramisu. A big Thank You to Masa for changing my experience to a positive one. I will definitely pop by next time I am in Granville Island.
Its a small bakery in Granville island market. It is one of the best bakeries I have been to. I loved their black forest cake. Very fresh. And trust me they sell out quickly. We loved their almond croissant too. Must try!
Whenever I go to Granville Island to check out the public market, I always go to Stuart's Quality Baked Goods. Sweets: Chocolate Chunk cookie $2.75 Double Chocolate cookie $2.75 Both are soft and delicious! I highly recommend this bakery if you are craving the sweets upon arrival to the public market at Granville Island.

There are SO many desserts and pastries here that I never know which to get. I would recommend asking them which are the freshest made. It makes a huge difference in the taste! This is what we tried: Tiramisu - The cream in the tiramisu was yummy, but I couldn't taste the traditional espresso + rum flavor in the ladyfingers. Key Lime Pie - I liked the tart filling of this pie, but the shell was a little dry! Chocolate Caramel Pecan Bar - my favorite part of this bar were the pecans in it! It is on the sweeter side, so I would pair it with a drink.
Wowzer! The choices are endless. So many things to pick from. All look amazing. I got the ginger molasses cookie and it was delicious! Amazing. Wanted so much more but was visiting and could not carry things around all day. There were about 13 things I would have bought! They do have the BC records that are a special pastry. Line was long. Moved quickly. Very friendly staff! Great bakery. read more

While vacationing in Vancouver, I went on a tour that stopped at Granville Island Market. I planned my visit ahead of time, and Stuart's Bakery was one of the places I wanted to try. I came specifically for their cinnamon record, a giant circular pastry that tastes like an elephant ear or palmier. It had the perfect amount of cinnamon and sugar, and it was crispy with just a little flakiness. It was so delicious and was so fun to eat. The pastry was huge that it took me three days to finish it. I kept nibbling on it as a snack throughout my trip, and I even had some left for my flight home. It came in handy at the airport and kept me from getting hungry while traveling. At just $6 CAD, it was also a great value. If you're visiting Granville Island Market, I highly recommend picking up a cinnamon record from Stuart's Bakery. read more
Lots of choices, but I can only pick a few after I had lunch. I had to get a cinnamon roll sticky bun ($6.50). Not one bite was dry - not even the outside. It was so good and sweet. Then I got a double chocolate cookie ($3.25). It had a nice chewy texture for being a thin cookie, but wasn't that rich. It needed more butter and lacked that chocolate taste. It was also disorganized. There were like three different lines, and people were confused on where to order. The staff was average - they didn't have much enthusiasm and didn't smile much. read more

I was craving something sweet and lo and behold, Stuart's Bakery was there to save the day. The aromas and the sights drew me in. I'm a sucker for big desserts so of course I got the Cinnamon Record - which reminded me of the French Palmier cookie. I ate almost half before I tossed it. Even too much of a good thing is not a good thing... (is that how the saying goes?). It's a messy pastry and I really only needed a quarter of the entire dessert to be satisfied with it. The chocolate chunk cookies looked irresistible - and while I'm usually more of a fan of the chewier fudgier sort, I found the chocolate chunk cookie to be pretty cake-y, which I actually really liked. Definitely a must try. Overall, Stuart's Bakery is a-ok! I was really craving some sweets and the two desserts I bought were just fine. Nothing super memorable, though, unfortunately. read more
Stuart's Bakery is one of the bakeries in the tourists and (some) locals filled Granville Island. They have a huge booth with many visually pleasing looking pastries. The items we tried: Pride Slice - This is easily the most visually pleasing slice of cake in the entire case. Alas, it's not the best taste or for that matter, what exactly is the taste? Just buttercream, maybe. Each cream layer is "chucky", which is entirely undesirable. Mango Cheesecake - This was quite tasty. A good mango flavor in the cheesecake. Raspberry filled Linz cookie - This treat is a fairly standard cookie sandwich with a dollop of raspberry topping. The raspberry jam is quite good; the cookie itself doesn't have a lot of flavor. I think this place has hits and misses. More like a 2.5 stars. Others commented on the lines being confusing. The registers are in the center. It's a matter of asking the folks against the case if they are ready to order. Easy peasy. read more
Would I come back? They have a lot of different items. If you are from California, it is kind of like Porto's where they have something to cater to everyone's taste. I would definitely come back to try their other items. On my visit I decided to try the cinnamon wheel and the maple cheesecake. The cinnamon wheel caught my eye because it looked like a giant disc. It was just okay and reminded me of a butterfly cookie. The maple cheesecake was good. It was not too sweet and had the aroma from the maple syrup. The consistency was creamy, smooth and not too sweet. Only complaint was the crust since parts of it stuck on the board it was served on. I would definitely recommend people to stop by here if they are at Granville Market. Whatever you like, they probably have it there. I would love to come back to try their granola since it looked really good! read more

Out of all the bakeries in Granville Market, Stuart's caught our eye. It's just something about the variety of color and types of desserts all lined up perfectly along the edge of the display case. Polished and picture-perfect! Despite the lines, service is fairly quick, but allows you just enough time to decide on your order. We probably should have asked for recommendations, but we just based our picks solely off of appearance. I got the Chocolate Raspberry Tart, which had a decadent chocolate ganache and raspberry jam atop a graham cracker crust. The ganache was creamy and rich, but the crust seemed to be the miss here... I thought it would have a buttery flavor, but instead, it was pretty bland. We also got a Cinnamon Record, which is a huge round flaky pastry covered in a cinnamon glaze. It is actually the size of a music record, so it's perfect for sharing! Unfortunately it was on the dry side and didn't live up to our expectations. My family tried the Key Lime Tart which seemed to be a winner...had the right amount of sweetness and embodied exactly what a key lime pie should be. Overall, I'd definitely be willing to give Stuart's another chance. They have so many desserts to offer; there must be something for everyone! read more
They have a lot of sweets to try. They have pretty pastries. The Pride slice is very colorful that catches everyone's attention. Aside from that anything here is worth a visit. They have Nanaimo bars too. If you're looking for a little dessert or a snack for later. Pick up a variety here and take it to go. You can't go wrong with Stuarts. I had the Pride slice of cake they boxed up real nice. Then had a Nanaimo at Nanaimo train station in Nanaimo. A bit too much Nanaimo happening here. Cut to the Pride cake and all is well again. Find Stuart's Bakery at Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver, British Columbia. They stay very busy despite all the competition. This bakery makes a large assortment of baked goods. Everything was presented quite nicely. Portuguese Egg Tart was the only item I bought. Would have purchased more, if the customer service had been above average. Instead the service was so poor and unfriendly that I had no desire to try anything else despite the fact that the sweets looked yummy. By the way, the Portuguese Egg Tart tasted decent. Not worth buying again though. I am certain that I will come by here again the next time I'm at Granville Island. Hopefully, the service will be good so I can try more of their goodies. They have a fun selection of baked goods and they all looked pretty good. I got a nanaimo bar as I hadn't yet tried one and I couldn't leave Canada without trying it. It was decent overall, but probably not something I would order again. It's a decent bakery overall and a nice place to grab a quick snack in the Granville Public Market. read more
Located at Granville Island, the beautiful pastries in glass displays draw you in. The pride cake, blueberry tart and cinnamon record was amazing! Our only regret is that we didn't sample more things. The cinnamon records were sweet and buttery and we should've picked up a few more to eat for breakfast or have with coffee! read more

Cinnamon Record and Eccles Cakes (5/5) - Huge, sweet but not overbearing, with just the perfect mixture of sticky and flaky. The Eccles Cake had a caramelly sweetness to it and the raisins were a nice touch. The Cinnamon record had the same caramelly sweetness but I couldn't detect much of a cinnamon spice. Either way, I loved them both, so delicious!! I was tempted with my 2nd visit to also try a couple of their artisan pastries because they were all so beautiful and aesthetic. I chose a basic Chocolate Eclair and a Napoleon. Their pastries definitely looked a lot better than they tasted. The Chocolate Eclair (2/5) - was generously filled with a light whipped cream which hardly had any flavour or sweetness to it, strangely enough. The only flavour I got was the chocolate coating on top. The Napoleon (3/5) - was quite yummy, the cream, a bit of fruit jam, and layers of cake was delicious and had the right sweetness. BUT the icing layer on top was too thick, hard, and way too sweet. read more

5 stars for the BRICKLE! Made of hemp hearts, chia seeds, quinoa, honey, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds, cashew nuts...worth every penny! Almond croissant was average, perhaps 3 stars at most, so hence the generous 4-star review. (Cashier looked confused when I asked if the almond croissant was "twice-baked", which are my favorite kind.) Busy place! read more
No, I didn't get the Pride cake, okay? I got Cherry Cannoli's instead. The display of baked good here are quite impressive. But I can only base this review on what I had. There were lots of people gawking at all the sweets behind the glass, but it was hard to determine who was ready to order, and who was just looking. There was no system. You just need to get someone's attention if you want something. So as I said earlier, I got Cherry Cannoli's. I have never eaten cherry cannoli's before, but there was a man who had just bought what looked like a half dozen, so I figured we should try them too. Although I still prefer plain cannoli's better, this wasn't all that bad. If I go back again, I'll definitely try the Pride cake next time. You end up buying something everytime. There are so many bakeries and food places around the Granville market. This one looked rather appealing. Cheesecake (so yummy!) and rainbow cake (for photo only). Most of the goodies are priced at around $5.50 since 2016, I would say it is priced according to Vancouver dessert standard. Plus, they have big cakes and you are in a tourist destination. So, go figure! You know what i mean! They have a huge selection to choose from definitely worth a visit if your a cake lover. read more

Very bad cake. There was huge long line up on Friday afternoon so I thought the cake ought to be good. We ordered Black Forest and it's all cream and cream. We ended up throwing the left over shown in the picture away. Very bad bakery shop. I come to conclude that the long line up is due to the highly central location within the public Market - right in the center. Stay away. read more

We're at Granville Island Market. Stuart's has an excellent fresh from the oven Granola with great ingredients, great flavor. Perfect with a cup of tea from the tea shop next stall or to enjoy with a cup of Coffee just outside looking out the waterfront. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. read more
This review is for their French macaroons only. I really love me some french macaroons but this place was a bit disappointing. What I swallowed: PISTACHIO CREME: This was the best of the bunch. The cookie was light and airy and the creme filling wasn't overbearing with just a nice pistachio flavor. What a macaroon should be. I would happily order more of these. wow! so many different desserts here to choose from! Although some of the reviews mentioned that it didn't have much flavor, we thougt the flavors were great: fruit tart - 4 stars - for around $5, the fruits were fresh and tasted well with the filling and crust. it had a nice light flavor to it. chocolate mousse - 4 stars - for aroud $5, very chocolatey flavor with a candy type toping and cake bottom. staff was nice, but couldn't really understand english that well. read more

The bakeries we got were frozen. What the heck!!! We got the pride slide, Japanese cream puff and some breads. Both the cream puff and the pride slide were frozen. What the heck, I've never ever had frozen bakery in my entire life. They were about $5 each. Worst bakery I have ever been to. read more

I don't have a sweet tooth, but looking at the beautiful display of all the yummy desserts, I just wanted everything! I wanted to sample all the yummy fruit tart, cheesecake and cookies that just came straight out of the oven. It took my friend and I at least 10 minutes to decide which lucky pastries was going back to the hotel with us. My friend is a huge fruit tart fan, so that's what she ended up getting and I got the apple caramel cheesecake. The fruit tart was delicious, you can taste the perfect amount of butter they used on the crust. The filling was not overly sweet which was topped with some tasty fresh fruits. My apple caramel cheesecake was amazing! It wasn't too sweet, the apple and caramel was mix very well together. The texture of the cheesecake was on point. It kind of taste like Apple pie, but better! Service was quick! The people behind the counter was super friendly! They answer all my questions and I didn't feel rushed even when there was a line behind me. read more
