I unfortunately do not have anything good to say about my experience trying Mr. Shawarma. The fries were so bland, soggy, and had no seasoning. The pita bread was flat, dry, and bland. The beef on the shawarma fries was so fatty it was hard to eat through and the chicken on the other half was bland and had barely any flavor. The hummus was the "best"? thing I guess you could say it was the least disappointing but still was not good. My husband and I ultimately could not eat the food from here. It was really horrible and I don't get how this place is rated so highly. We were excited to try Mr Shawarma and now we feel as though we wasted our money. We will never come back. The food was not appetizing at all and was really gross. If you are debating on coming here, I would advise against it. Seriously the worst food I have had in San Diego or in a really long time. read more

My wife and I came in around lunchtime on a Friday, and the experience was disappointing from the start. I wasn't acknowledged at all by the front desk when we walked in. The service issues continued when our entrees came out a full 10 minutes apart, meaning we couldn't eat our meal together. For a total of $40 for two meals, the quality just wasn't there. The beef kebab I ordered was grisly and incredibly chewy, and the side salad was completely drenched in vinaigrette. Pacific Beach and San Diego have a reputation for being overpriced and mediocre, and unfortunately, this spot fit right into that stereotype. Definitely not worth the price tag for subpar food and disjointed service. read more

Love love love the food here! I used to go to their spot when it used to be by the gas station a long time ago. Having their own spot on Garnet is pretty sweet! It looks like a great place for dine in with ample seating or takeout. I ordered the Lemon Cilantro Beef Shawarma and ordering online was easy! The worker was nice and decent wait times! The food is so tasty and love the flavors from the meats and the garlic sauce turns it up a notch. Definitely a solid spot for getting my shawarma fix! read more

We were visiting from LA and were excited to try this place. This was our first stop for our road trip to SD. We ordered: 1) Side of falafel 2) Shawarma salad (half chicken half beef) 3) Shawarma plate (half chicken half beef) 4) Babaganoush - The quantity for the price was excellent; they were very generous with their portions. - The pita bread was huge! However, as soon as it cooled it became hard and stiff - The chicken shawarma was pretty good - The beef shawarma was soooo salty and over seasoned. It was so salty, we actually could not finish it and we did not take it to go. It also had a lot of fat. - The babaganoush was decent, generous portion but slightly under seasoned - Falafals were excellent!! Very flavorful, nice and crispy texture -- absolutely recommend Overall, our experience was a solid 3.0/5. If the beef had not been so over seasoned, it would have made our overall experience much better. read more

I had quite an odd experience from this place. We ordered delivery from Mr. Shawarma around 7pm waiting until 8:30pm only to receive a completely wrong order. To start, service was great. The two employees up front were very nice and got the food out quickly. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated, which makes you feel safe. In regards to the shawarma, it was just alright for me. The meat was decently tender but lacked flavor. It was definitely missing some herb flavor and was under-seasoned. My food also felt under-salted. I can say the same about the fries; the seasoned fries contained little to no seasoning. They tasted like plain steak fries, and only a few had any of the red powdered seasoning. The tahini sauce was creamy and garlicky, which was very good. The pickles were also a nice addition to the plate. Overall, the portion size was decent, but the flavor was lacking on my visit. read more

Fake pricing on menu. They added a $1.06 to each item more than advertised on their electronic menu. It is not tax, added afterward, or the credit card fee, also added afterward, but the base item price items that they don't honor from their menu. Very shady, they just shrugged. Waste of time. We were given a choice of tables and chose a table just a bit closer to the back, as it was a bit chilly to eat outside and the front area didn't give us as much space. The menu was vast and took a long time to study.There were several traditional Greek items on the menu, as well as many less traditional items. I enjoy ouzo and wondered if there were any ouzo cocktails. Our server told us about the Cucumber Ouzito, which was a take on a mojito. We each ordered one, as well as the saganaki (flaming Greek cheese) to start. Our drinks and cheese were brought out. The food runner who brought the cheese was friendly and joked with us when we all yelled "Opa" with the flames. The ouzo gave the mojito drink a fun kick. Unfortunately, out server didn't return. We were sitting for a long time, so much that we joked about leaving to get our main course elsewhere. We had pretty much finished the drinks and cheese and hadn't even ordered yet, not to mention that I also had questions about the menu that I hadn't had the opportunity to ask. I finally caught a food runner and requested he bring our server, which he did. After a few questions, I found that the meze of the day was taramsalata ( a salted roe spread that I love). I ordered that along with the octopus. My husband ordered the stuffed salmon. Luckily, after that, the food did not take too long to come out. The taramasalata was good, but not great. I'm used to it having a bit softer texture, which is perhaps a personal preference. The octopus was pretty bad... chewy and had a flavor I didn't care for. The stuffed salmon was stuffed with white cheese and spinach and was quite good. The salmon was well-cooked. All in all, the restaurant is beautiful. Our service that night started off great, but then dwindled. The food we had was hit or miss. I would probably not return to meze, and instead go to a more traditional Greek restaurant with more reliable food and service.

It probably would've been faster if they weren't so backed up. I ordered the Wagyu beef and chicken shawarma plate for me and my wife to share. I added 3 falafels and pita bread on top of it. The food was still fresh when I got home 15 mins later. Everything was good and just enough for us two. Also, I'm not sure why there's a range of where they may be located on Yelp since this is just a food truck that seems to be permanent at this location.

When I asked where the coffee was from, the server actually gave us a free bag of coffee beans since they actually don't sell the coffee at the roaster, so I really appreciated this gesture. But the excellent service here (and the fact they gave us free bag of coffee) warrants an extra star, which is why I'm giving this place a 4/5. Would I come back to this place again though? Probably not given how expensive the food is and the inconsistently quality, but it was nice that I gave this place a try in San Diego.

I recently had an unfortunate experience here and I felt compelled to share it so others can be informed. From the moment I walked in, the service left much to be desired. First, when I originally placed my catering order, the employee clearly stated which dishes and sides were going to be included. However, when it came time to pick up my order, an employee by the name of Lily said that my order would not come with certain sides and then accused her staff of providing misinformation. When I politely asked that my order include all of the sides that were promised to me, Lily was not only rude but seemed annoyed that I even asked. Things went downhill from there. After I noticed the total bill did not match the prices listed on the catering menu, I pointed this out. Instead of an apology or an attempt to rectify the situation, Lily begrudgingly deducted $2.00 from the total bill. To make matters worse, the way this was handled felt insulting rather than accommodating. I was then asked if I needed more bread and unsurprisingly, a "yes" answer seemed to trigger Lily some more. It was as if I was an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. I've always believed that good service makes a meal memorable, but this experience was quite the opposite. The last 3x I've ordered NONE of my paid add ons get included and the wrap is dry, cold, and falling apart. I got a wrap with just chicken today... no sauce or pickles, the cheese I paid for or onions... nothing.... just the dry cold wrap and chicken. This was the third time they've sent me food like this. I'm disputing it with my bank and might not be coming here anymore. They also sent me stringy soggy fries when I ordered the onion rings that cost more. They sent me garlic sauce that was as liquidy as water.... this again was the third time so it's becoming a usual for them. Its sad. Really sad to write this as I've left 5 stars in the past but the place is really going to shit. Last 3x I've ordered (in 2months) I've had my wraps horrible wrapped up, like literally just rolled up and uncut. They gave me a cold wrap with cold fries and their team just really doesn't care. Last time I ordered they didn't even give me the fries I paid for... the waffle fries are a solid 2 dollars more and I got shoestring cold fries while my wrap fell completely apart. So naturally, I had to drive into PB to try them, and M. came along to have some hot chicken. We had no trouble finding a meter spot on Garnet only a block away. There was even some time left on it. Score! We entered the shop at the SE corner of Garnet & Cass around 7:15pm on Saturday eve, and ordered easily from one of the two user friendly kiosks... great organization, clear photos of the food, and options for spice levels, sauces, add-ons, etc. We were a tad surprised that they automatically tag on a sizeable tip. There is a button to toggle the amount up or down, but it seemed especially strange since we were ordering from a computer, and there were no employees taking orders. I understand that there are folks that would benefit from the tips working in the back, but still, the optics on that are not great. Anyway, we got our water cups and found a spot inside where we sat down to wait. The dining room was busy and filled with a variety of guests from teenagers, to couples on dates, to families enjoying a fun meal together. Very lively indeed, although the cleanliness of the dining area and tables is somewhat questionable. In the 30 minutes that we were waiting in the dining room, I did not see any employees leave the kitchen area. Just an observation, but several of the tables turned over while I was there, and they were not sanitized. Once my name was called, we took our heavy to-go bag, and hustled up the block to our chariot. Upon opening the bags at home 15 minutes later, we discovered to go boxes that were laden with food, 4 packets of Dave's Sauce, and a handful of napkins with amusingly co-opted lyrics, some with a Cali twist..."All Freyez on Me," anyone? The portions are generous and commensurate with the price and popular location. So the food, well, it was honestly fine for what it is. My cauli tenders were large and crispy, but on the greasy side. The batter was mild, and very good, but the greasy flavor was a bit off putting. I could not finish both tenders and fries because they're very filling. I ate a tender and a half and about 1/3 of the crinkle-cut fries. I also got a little concerned about whether the cauliflower tenders are fried in a separate fryer from the chicken, but for now, I will settle for not knowing. M. liked the sliders and he enjoyed the pickles, Hawaiian bun and sauce on them. He couldn't finish all of his fries either, so I guess we have a snack for later. Verdict: (3.5 stars) - Dave's delivers the goods as promised. If you are a fan of this type of casual comfort food, definitely give it a go. They're open late!

My friends and I got a variety of things to try and it was all delicious and flavorful, but my absolute favorite was the spicy noodle. My friend got this, as well as the curry, at a level 1 spice but it felt more like a level 3.5. But I still really enjoyed it and I was coveting her entree the whole meal. :D

Tried: Lemonade $5 - good Greek salad w/grilled chicken kabobs (2) $15 - good. I was disappointed it was missing the olives. You can pay 25 cents extra to get their other sauces to go with it. Chicken was flavorful and tender. Salad came with an oil vinaigrette. The container they place your food in doesn't quite snap together completely so be careful of the dressing spilling out.
