The owner was very friendly, and service was fast. It didn't even seem like I was there for 10 minutes.....everything checked out A-ok on my car and I was on my way in no time. I had even called before to ask about whether I needed to make an appointment or could just show up. The owner said that either way would work, so I decided to just take my chances and show up. I had my 2 year old with me, and the owner had us in an out of their very quickly. In needed a smog check, but not sure if my car could pass. These guys are the guys to see. No they don't do anything illegal. My check engine light was on, on my 2002 Rav4. Instead of running the check they took the time to run a free diagnostic scan and told me what the problem was. I had the issue taken care of and returned to get the smog check. Brought my car in for an oil change. The owner help me out right away. Fast and friendly service

This is my very first negative review for a business. I went in here and the owner tells me I have a defective gas cap gasket and uses a flashlight to show me the problem. I do not see a problem. He tells me it will cost $18 to get a new gas cap from him. I say no and go ahead and test my car. He fails my car for visual inspection. I get a very strong feeling that he is lying to me. I leave and want a second opinion from another place. I then go to AA Smog Check Center which is VERY close by. The owner there sees the visual inspection failure on the computer records. I tell him the issue, and he conducts some pressure check on the gas cap and does not find it to be a problem. The kicker isn't that Mr. Smog lied about the defective gas cap, but it seems like they unplugged my car computer which requires my car to go 30 more miles to reset and test my car. So, they sabotaged my car also. So, now I have to wait another day to reset my car computer. Also, BTW a replacement gas cap at AA Smog Check Center is only $10. THEREFORE, BE WARNED!!!! MR. SMOG IS DISHONEST AND WILL TRY AND RIP YOU OFF! read more

Absolutely fantastic shop. I came here because there comes a time (every two years) in every car/truck/SUVs life where it needs a smog check. It came that time for my truck. I needed a certified star smog and I needed it today because my tags expire tomorrow. Yeah, I'm that kind of adult. I was in and out of here in about 20 minutes, $50 for the smog and cert. which is exactly what I paid no other fees or anything $50 out the door and I also got a free calendar which a $4.99 value so that was cool. The guy was extremely courteous and professional. I will definitely be back for future smog checks if I still live in the area. Literally the best experience I have had with a smog shop, period. I needed my car smogged and was short on time so I began to call every smog shop within a 10 minute drive, Mr. Smog Check quoted me $40 out the door (stating I was free to show the coupon from the website on my phone)- whereas everyone else was $50 and up (which I was prepared to pay if the shop was nonskeevy and fast), Nice little waiting area with a fat screen, magazines for days (good magazines too- not just Hot Rod and Motor Trend, girl sh*t) and free wifi if you needed it. None of the exhaust smells crept in from the shop as well. I was in and out within 30 minutes, very fast and efficient. I no longer actively yelp, but damn if I did not roll back on to review this place and its general awesomeness. read more

Well, the time had come for my biennial donation to the state of CA for absolutely no reason, AKA smog check, on my diesel pickup no less. I drove out to the place I went to last time, AA smog in Rancho. It was not even 8 am yet, and they were jammed full of cars and said it would be at least a 2 hour wait. Not wanting to wait that long, I jumped on yelp, and found Mr. Smog, which was right down the street from the place I was wanting to go. Chuy showed up right at 8:30 am, and had my truck, as well as another customers vehicle in the shop by 8:45 am. He did my diesel smog check, which by the way, consists of a quick peek under the hood to make sure all smog equipment is there, and a quick blip of the throttle to make sure no smoke comes out the tail pipe. All told, I was out the door, with a copy of my "passed" smog certificate in hand by 9 am. This place is efficient, and on par pricewise with every other smog station out there. I'll be back when my next vehicle needs a smog. read more

I have taken my car here 2 times. It's an older 97 4Runner 300,000+ miles. The first time I knew it probably wouldn't pass but Chuy was so honest with me and told me exactly what I needed to get fixed for it to pass and my car to run better. I went straight to the mechanic he recommended (right around the corner), he put in a new catalytic converter, I came straight back and it passed. I loved that he was honest. I didn't end up spending money on a bunch of crap that I wouldn't need. Brought it back a couple years later and it passed again. I've only had my Volkswagen Golf TDI for two years now and it already needed a smog check. My fiancee has a 2008 Honda Civic and it's never needed a smog check. I guess since mine is a diesel, there are stricter standards for them and they need to be checked more often. I called around to several places and this was the most reputable smog check shop in the area with the best price. The owner, Chuy, was very polite to me over the phone and I decided to stop by in the afternoon. There was absolutely no wait and Chuy was just as polite and professional in person. I have been to many auto shops over the years and he is one of the few, honest shop owners out there. He is just a very friendly guy who hopes to one day own a shop that is capable of making repairs, oil changes, smog checks, etc. I wish him the best. My wife followed me in her car to take us back home in case it took too long. But when we got there the owner quoted us at only 20 minutes, which is really quick. Overall, I had a great experience. I called late in the afternoon on a weekday and the guy was nice enough to squeeze me in, which I appreciated because I noticed at the last moment that I needed a smog certificate and my registration was due in 2 days.
