Saw that Mr. Smog Check got a lot of great reviews so I checked out their website. They have a coupon "Get Test Only Smog Check for Only $40.00" so I print that out and call to make an appointment. They answer their phone in Spanish. I want to make a 4:15PM appointment. They just asked for Year, Make and Model of the car. "Do you need my name and phone number?" "Nope" Okay, so I tell my husband to stop by after work for the smog check. I check the next day on the DMV website and they already have the results so I can pay the fee and get my new sticker. Pretty simple. Will come here again for future smog needs.. 10/100 Reviews for 2014 UPDATE: We needed a smog check for our other car. My husband calls and asks what time they open and makes an appointment over the phone for the following morning at 9am. The next morning he arrives and no one is there. He waits for 20 minutes, calls the business phone number and leaves a message. After another 10 minutes, he leaves and gets a smock check somewhere else. The owner calls him back around 11am to say one of his employees didn't show (even using cuss words) He also asks that my husband remove his Yelp review. Not very professional. read more

Be careful going to Mr Smog for a smog check. His website clearly states that if you don't pass you don't pay (I've included a screen shot). Well my car didn't pass and I was still required to pay. When i confronted Chuy about this and showed him his website, he got very defensive telling me that it was a "coupon". No where on the website does it state that. Great service and knowledgeable. My truck is from Texas so has "federal" emissions but has since had both catalytic converters replaced with California "CARB" certified ones. Took my truck to another local shop in Rancho who claimed BOTH of my catalytic converters were not CARB certified (even though they are both on the California Executive Order list) and submitted to the state that my truck had been "tampered" with, likely keeping another shop from looking at it. Called Chuy at Mr. Smog Check and he informed me that the other shop was wrong and even called a contact at the state to verify that as long as my cats are CARB certified I would be good. Chuy inspected the truck and printed out the necessary documents off of the CARB website and I was good to go. Fair price too. I own multiple vehicles and will definitely be returning. read more

Came in on a Saturday afternoon just before 12pm, total time including wait approximately 25 minutes had 2 persons ahead of me getting their vehicles smogged also. I arrived later than I hoped, 5pm, he was just finishing up a customer and took me in just a few minutes. Very nice gentleman who performed the smog test and sending the results that my car passed to the DMV electronically immediately. I believe my 2013 Honda CR-V Passes "tests" because I don't do Jack Rabbit starts, drive faster than the speed "limits", less likely to cause an accident, and don't slam on 1/4" brake pads to stop a 3k pound car. Beware of you have an older pre-OBD car. Had a great experience 2 years ago. Went first thing Saturday (7/31) morning at 9am and looks like Chuy is out with someone else is running the place. Guy didn't want to test my old car (1981 BMW 330i) even though I took it here 2 years ago. Gave me some excuses like "Oh you need to make an appointment and only if you're friends with the owner. I came 35 minutes before closing and because I had an older car, he refused to help me. Told me to come back. I did end up going back on Saturday morning and even though all the smog print outs said pass, he failed me. Said my timing was off. Had my mechanic check it. Said if anything my timing was off one degree and that I should report the smog place because they don't know what they are doing. Had my husband take my car back and some how it passed even though nothing changed. Don't waste your time going here. The man working there doesn't know how to do his job properly or choose to not do it correctly. I will be filing a formal complaint per my mechanic recommendation. read more
