I stopped in today for some lunch and ordered the Italian Hoagie lunch special, which came with fries and a drink. I subbed oil and vinegar for the mayo on the sandwich. The staff was friendly and brought my meal to my table. The sandwich, while toasted, was disappointing as it had very little flavor and was drowning in oil, which got on some of the fries. The fries were nice and crispy. When I'm back in the area, I might try some pizza, as that's what everyone raves about. read more

I'm glad Jo-Jo's is as good as I remember! I used to work downtown pre-pandemic, so I'd stop by their Main Street location pretty frequently. With transitioning to remote work in 2020, my hours and their hours just didn't mesh any longer, so I haven't been in roughly five years despite loving their pizza. Their Midlothian location is not around the corner, but I made a special trip last weekend. Jo-Jo was manning the counter, and I ordered the 2-slice special, selecting the ricotta and the pepperoni. Hands down best pizza around. If you love a true authentic NY pie this is the place for you. I did a review already but not sure where it went. So I NEED to make sure you know about this place. Everything about this restaurant is what I remember and love about pizza in NY. Right when you walk in there is a case that showcases the pizza they have by the slice. Most places around do not do this. The variety is always great and I have seen something different that I want to try every time I come in. You order your slices at the counter. We paid, grabbed our sodas at the soda fountain and the slices were brought out to us after they were nice and hot. The owner's are always so talkative and friendly. There are plenty of seats and tables past the counter. I think there were 2 TV's on the wall. The dining room is alway clean. This restaurant is near our old house. And there are a few pizzeria, Italian restaurant close to us. But if I need a real great pizza this is the place that I need to come to. read more

We ordered a veggie. The vegetables tasted good. The cheese was good, but the crust was very soggy. The sauce was very sweet. I didn't care for it at all. And the cheese didn't go all the way to the crust. It seemed to be a lot of crust around the edges. I didn't care for it and my husband didn't care for it. Love this place! The people are amazing and helpful. If you like NY style pizza, then, you'll love this place too. Best pizza in the Richmond IMHO. Loved the sauce, crust was the perfect mix of crisp and chew, and the meatballs were delicious. Food, service and ambiance is why this is the place to go if you are looking for a casual place to hang out with friends It's clean and has tables you can put together to make one big table for a larger family or friend gathering. Thank you thank you thank you for opening on Midlothian Turnpike! We have been desperately needing an awesome pizza place on midlo turnpike. Granted I am a little biased since I was always a big fan of the downtown location when I worked downtown 10 plus years ago. So excited that they will be down the street from us, only 5 minutes away! We called for carry out around 5:15 soon after it opened and they estimated 30-40 minutes. They just opened over a week ago, heard their first Friday was packed! We ordered a Large Pepperoni Pizza and a Pepperoni Stromboli... ahhhmazing! I love love the marinara that comes with the Stromboli you can tell they made it and add extra spices. So delicious! Right now they are still super busy so there really isn't a need for a delivery option, but I would love it if they do delivery at some point... they would be so convenient. Can't wait to pick up pizza again... next time we will have to get the BBQ Chicken one of my husband's faves from the downtown location! I ordered pickup. The pizza was terrible. Too much sauce, that is oddly salty and the cheese was barely melted. The chicken wings were probably the worst I have ever had. It was like the wings were cooked at 10 in the morning and then fried again when I ordered them that night. The staff was really nice. This is the only reason I gave a second star. I had been waiting for this location to open up for a while! When I went to VCU my internship ordered from the downtown location and it was heaven. I ordered a large (16") pizza half Buffalo chicken and half bbq chicken (and added Italian sausage) well done and the pizza was as good as I remember. I ordered to go and the flavors were amazing and I ate everything down to the crust. The calamari almost didn't make it home and my bf loved that they do all rings. The interior of the restaurant was spacious, clean, and inviting and looked like it could accommodate both small and large parties. The gentleman who took our order that day was patient and helpful and showed us the variations in size with the pie pans. I'll definitely be returning! read more

I've been wanting to try the downtown location of this pizza shop for years! I was at a friends in Midlo and she happened to order from here. The pizza was very good. I'd give it a 7.5/10 (this may seem like a low score but I'm a tough critic so it's actually a really good score!) A 7.5 means you could get this time and time again and it would always be good and reliable. We got four different types of pizza but I felt the class pepperoni was the best. I came in for a slice for lunch, stressed from work, life, and traffic. They had several pie options for slices. I went with a grandma slice and a pepperoni slice. Two slices and a water for like $8 The tables had garlic, red pepper, parm, and s & p The staff welcomed me, took my order, and I had it in seconds. The Grandma slice had sweet, fresh tomatoes and a lot of fresh mozzarella coming through; the herbs added flavor depth. The pepperoni was perfect. This restaurant is a unicorn!!!! I haven't received my order yet but it seems like something is wrong. I ordered online for delivery. I originally selected delivery earlier than was available and it gave me a different time that was available for delivery. I selected that time and the confirmation message said I needed to pick up. I called the store and they said they could change it to delivery but it would be after five. That was fine with us. But after that I kept getting a text to pay more money. I got it three times and I finally called at 5. They said I owed more money so I paid via Apple Pay. I hope it all works out but it seems strange to me. Ordered delivery from here right before the one of the divisional games. Anyway the I was told delivery would take upwards 45 mins due to them being very busy. I was pleasantly surprised when my order arrived earlier than expected. We ordered the wings, a large meat lovers and I'm a sucker for calzones so we ordered one calzone. My husband who is from the Deep South had never had NY style pizza. He said he throughly enjoyed the pizza. I liked the taste of the crust and the sauce had plenty of flavor. We both agreed the wings were cooked nicely but definitely needed more seasoning. I felt the calzone dough to filling was off. All in all we really enjoyed our delivery experience. Love this place! Best pizza in Midlothian and downtown. The owner is very nice and even steps in to deliver pizzas when necessary- not something you see a boss do very often and we felt like it spoke to his customer service and dedication. Our family all has different check boxes when it comes to pizza. Some prioritize the crust while others really value the cheese to sauce ratio. Absolutely terrific pizza for Midlothian and Virginia as a whole. Growing up in North Jersey, this is as close as you can get to North Jersey/NYC pizza. I was excited to try JoJos given all the great reviews. Today I ordered a Meat Lovers and a Barbecue Chicken. The Meet Lovers was very good. However the Barbecue Chicken was nearly inedible. The "chicken" was a strange powdery topping. I can only assume it was chicken that had dried out so they put it in a food processor to grind it up. It was just horrible. I may go back again but I'd never order the chicken! read more
