So it looks like I'm on my own. The company that actually did the install for Mr. Sunshine is SOLARSHIPS This company, Solarships, does not give a second look at you once they have your money. You have to houndthem and you'll still have what i do. Not a damn thing when it comes to customer service or satisfaction. I have called and called about my solar bill. They said they would save me hundreds but they're choosing me thousands. I'm not saving anything. Solarships IMO is a PREDATORY SCAM. I paid $335 on the APS Equalizer plan. Now I'm paying $503 plus my electric bill every month on a 49 panel system. How's that for NO VASELINE AND NO KISS ON THE CHEEK? My ceilings still look like crap from the install damage and they don't care one bit. read more

Michael helped us get solar about a year ago. The install happened pretty quickly, but the electric company took forever to turn them on. We ended up being charged by the electric company and we received a bill, after 60days, for our still idle panels. True to his word, Michael made sure that the solar company reimbursed us for our solar payments until they were officially turned on. Then just earlier today, a little over a year later, I had some questions and he made sure he took the time to fully explain and help me get my questions answered. His customer service is A-1. Mr. sunshine was responsive and informative when it comes to Arizona solar. He is friendly and easy to converse with and very knowledgeable. He came to our house to survey the structure and understand our energy goals. Tim (the engineering guy on the team) provided information about generation and connections to the grid and was very informative about getting solar installed along with flexible scheduling. I had some scheduling issues that will delay the installation, and this awesome company understood the situation that will delay my project and will be there when I can resume my project. While doing research on Arizona solar energy, I found there are any number of ways to have solar panels installed on your home, not all are great. Michael was true to his word and made himself available to help answer questions, even when I went to sell the house. The system performed as promised, though I did not stay in the house long enough to get the full benefits of the array. When I went to sell my house, the inspection discovered that the roofing compnay hired to prep the roof for installation had done a terrible job. Michael and Mr. sunshine was the only person of the three companies involved to take my concerns seriously and work to rectify the situation by giving me $2500. The other two companies would not even discuss compensation. As I said earlier, though perhaps not effusively enough, Michael was true to his word about being there fir the long haul. My father's solar panels were damaged by golf balls. Only two panels needed to be replaced and his system is 10+ years old. Darren was able to find compatible panels and they were installed the following week. (The panels were still functioning, so there was no urgency). Mr. Sunshine was the only company to return my calls and went above and beyond the typical level of effort made by most companies today. Yet, you are selling the product at the same price. Meaning, the $15,000 "dealer fee" goes in your pocket. Thank you for admitting that you're robbing people of the $15,000 and even worse, you are showing them that you're doing it. You just redirect their attention by trashing other companies and their tactics while singing yourself praises. You can't be the good guy and talk trash about everyone else and compliment yourself in every sentence. And you're saying that being associated with one of the most well known companies in the country was a bad thing for you? Seems economically awesome and your excuse is bull. Just look this guy up. He has hopped around a lot more than once. Everything you say makes me wanna vomit. This guy tries to sell you high interest rates because he makes more money that way. Turns out you can go to a different company and get solar for the same price but at a 5th of the interest rate. Looks like he is just trying to rip people off. He claims to be famous in the valley and that the public knows him for his success, reputation blah blah blah... he changes companies/his company name every couple years. Reputable, honest companies don't do that. He has less than a handful of reviews online and several of them are his family members. The others are all written using all the word for word clichés he says constantly. Meaning they were probably written by him. The public doesn't seem to know you exist buddy. We discovered "Mr. Sunshine" (Michael) through several recommendations within our community. Before the Verrado Coffee shop closed he would give free seminars, which we attended, concerning the advantages of solar power. We had already spoken with a number of other popular providers, only to discover that they didn't "really" know all that they spoke of. Michael challenged many things that were told to us by the others & through additional research through Google and other resources, we found him to be the ONLY one that had ALL of the correct, up to date information that we needed to make our decision to go solar. He promised us that it would be a "very casual, NO pressure" process, & that he wouldn't even ask us for our business at the end. He's a man of his word. We had to ask him "What do we need to do to get this started." The recommendations he made have worked out as he said they would. The installation was as clean & professional as we could hope for. The process took some time. (about 3 or 4 months) But that's what we were told to expect. We're VERY happy with our decision. Once you sit down with him, you'll quickly notice the extreme difference in what & how he "educates" you vs. the others "selling" to you. If you are considering getting solar from Mr. Sunshine you need to read this review and be very cautious. For someone who preaches against sleazy techniques and sales gimmicks, he has many of his own. He preaches a lot of clichés and gimmicks while trying to convince you he is helping you escape from the gimmicks. For example, with most solar companies you pay a dealer fee which buys down your interest rate to get a low interest rate like 0.99%. Michael Janzen "Mr. Sunshine" charges around the same price as other companies but he gives you a very high interest rate. This means that the cost that would normally go towards getting you a low interest rate goes straight into his pocket as commission. What's crazy is he actually preaches not to get a low interest rate and stay away from the dealer fees. Then he still charges you a price as if you were paying for them. From what I know from my friends in solar sales, this guy is likely trying to take people for a lot of money. Then he says it isn't wise to get a system that will eliminate your bill entirely. Well, if he sold you a system that was the same size that the other companies would recommend, then your monthly payment would be so high because of his interest rates that you would kick him out of your house the second he showed it to you. So, what you end up with is a high monthly payment for an expensive solar system and a significant utility bill on top of it. You will most likely be paying more than you would have with the utility company for the next 25 or so years. And tens of thousands of dollars more than if you had went with another company. After talking to him it is rather comical how likely it is that he is the author of (the very few) other reviews that he has online. In my opinion this guy is a walking hypocritical cliché, and the reason that salesmen historically have such a bad reputation. Based on what I've seen he will say literally anything to make you think he has your best interests in mind when in reality like most salesmen his main concern is his paycheck. You could lose a lot of money doing business with this man. Don't believe me? Get a quote from Mr. Sunshine and then get a quote from SunSolar Solutions or some other company. And before Mr. Sunshine makes a claim similar to his rebuttal of another review... no, I do not work for SunSolar Solutions or have any ties to them. They are simply the company that I compared Mr. Sunshine's quote to. From what I have researched, most if not all other companies in the Valley does business like SunSolar Solutions... not like Mr. Sunshine... and for obvious reasons. Having had 7 years of prior experience with solar I didn't need any convincing about whether to have another system on my new home. I did need valid information on leasing options vs buying and Michael had all the facts. We talked solar for about 2 hours and he didn't offer any hype. He actually downplayed some of my thoughts about installation timing and energy production. All accurate. Since I had planned ahead to put solar on the new home Michael encouraged a purchase of the system and set me up with quality components at a fair price. I now have 2 months of production and can already see our energy needs will be fully met by a system of just 7kW in size. I also encourage the added efficiency of ceiling fans, LED lighting, reflective window film and good insulation. Michael is a good guy, knows his business and won't waste your time with pipe dreams or a deal you'll regret.
