Apparently I've eaten here before - my review draft hasn't been posted yet, haha. Since my last stop was apparently in 2021 - Anna H. and I stopped here after checking out Schnormeier Gardens, I'm going to meld in this most current experience and post. Here it goes: There's still no official sign above this location; you really can't miss the hanging banner out front, though. The inside space is a mix of booths and tables. The open long sushi bar was nice: you can see them working away on sashimi and rolls from every table-point in the place. The music was smooth, a good house mix, and the volume was low enough to hear the words but also talk to others. Service was good. The gal running FOH was pleasant and happily answered any questions I had. This second stop-in, I went with the gal's suggestion and got a Sexy Girl roll and their Ebi Shumai. Apparently, my last visit in '21 I tried their Shumai too, but got their Caribbean Roll (added carrot and crab stick; asked for light rice, too). Their Shumai is served sitting in a warm fish broth. Solid, good appetizer to start; tasty and good size. My Sexy Girl roll was also pretty good. I like rolls that have enough flavor profiles to them that I don't need the soy sauce; happy to say, this one (and my previous Caribbean Roll) didn't, which is an important criteria of mine. The pickled ginger here is one of the tops in town, imo. I DO remember having this exact sentiment at my first stop here in '21, so I'm happy to see that hasn't changed. Both times, I've ordered from the apps section in the menu and a roll from the paper nigiri/sashimi/rolls menu. This is my go to for sushi but today i went outside my box and tried all new things. I got the nigiri appetizer and the stone pot chicken bibimbop which came with soup or salad... I always get soup here (so good!) so I tried salad that comes with a ginger dressing. Service was quick. We were sat immediately and the server took our order promptly. nigiri was amazing... wasn't surprised as this is a great sushi spot. Then the salad came out. Bluk. My sister and I grabbed some takeout sushi for lunch yesterday. We both got shrimp tempura rolls and added cream cheese. We asked for spicy mayo on the side as we really like it and usually need more than a drizzle. Sadly, there was none in the container when we got home. It was pretty good, fairly plain tasting. The green tea was the same, kind of bland. And the fried dumplings were great! Highly recommend the dumplings. Great little sushi spot by Easton. I came in towards closing to get some sushi to go and it appeared to be a quiet, chill place to grab a meal. It was quite spacious and dimly lit so pretty nice for a quick bite or date. Staff were kind and helpful as it was my first time and I was just putting in an order for takeout. They gave me time to make some decisions and I was able to get like 4 rolls for ~$30. The rolls I had were all pretty good, nothing fantastic but for the price seemed fair. They have a mix of classic rolls like tuna, salmon, eel, along with some specialty rolls with a mixture of things. I'll have to come back to try some of their tempura rolls as I figured those won't travel as well. Overall, this seems like a decent, affordable sushi spot. By the time we were heading out, every single seat was taken and there was a wait. We were directed to take a seat at a booth in the corner and handed menus. I don't know why I think it's so fun when sushi places have menus where you mark off what items you want, but it is and that's how they do it. Our server was attentive and friendly from the jump and it didn't take long for our sushi to arrive at the table. We ordered a plum wine to share and we each picked out two rolls. I specifically picked out the shrimp tempura and the Buckeye roll. My boyfriend ordered two of the deep fried rolls and we called it quits there. Although... they do have a really large menu and there were several other items I would try. It wasn't hard to notice how reasonably priced everything here is. Our bill came out to about $40, which is awesome. I live near downtown and the sushi is more in the $14-18 range while here it was more like $10-14. That's reason alone to make the drive and come back. I didn't have much of an appetite but I devoured my shrimp tempura roll. It's always one of my favorites. For the most part, everything tasted fresh but we got pretty tired of the sashimi towards the end. The waitress was really nice but service was a bit slow. I came here to do a takeout order since I have seen such raving reviews and I had just gotten back from being out of town. The inside was very clean and the ceiling lighting looked so cool! They have a pretty extensive menu of Japanese food and sushi. My friend ordered the teriyaki salmon, spicy salmon roll, and a salmon nigiri with a side of miso soup. I ordered a tempura udon ($10.95). While we waited, we asked for waters and the employee was kind enough to get us some. It took about 15 minutes for our order. The miso soup was good! I liked the tofu in the soup because it was so silky and soft. The sushi rolls were okay. My friend didn't like them. The rice was falling apart and so were the rolls because it wasn't rolled tightly. I think they gave us the wrong roll instead of the spicy salmon because what we got was not spicy at all. It was off taste and texture wise. The tempura udon came with two shrimp tempura on the side. This was really tasty and crunchy! The udon on the other hand, I did not like. There was the fake imitation crab thrown into the soup and I think it made the whole broth taste extremely fishy. There were fish cakes and regular cremini mushroom in it with some seaweed. Not what I would expect for $11. I will say the noodles were chewy and cooked well. I probably will not be back based on my first experience which is unfortunate. Delicious and fresh tasting sashimi! The servers were outstanding and very accommodating. We called ahead so they could prepare for our table of 7 adults and 2 children. I'd been going to Mr. Sushi for at least 10 years. Even moving 20-25 minutes away, I still made the drive, as it was my favorite sushi place. While most of the time I've had good experiences, more recently, I've had poor customer service experiences. Several weeks ago, I ordered carry out and once arriving home and unpacking my order, I noticed the two rolls o ordered were not correct. I called them and after explaining why I was not able to do another 45 minutes of driving to correct their error, I was told I would be provided with those two rolls complimentary on my next order and it would be listed in there system with my phone number. Yesterday, I was somewhat in the area and craving sushi, so I placed an order and mentioned they were to be at no charge due to a previous error. Upon arriving to pick up my food, my bill had charges for both rolls. When explaining this to the woman ringing up my bill, she was rude and loud. She eventually removed the charge for one roll. I politely persisted in requesting the charge be removed for both rolls. Again, the woman continued to be rude and loud saying they don't do that. As I tried to re-explain the situation, I was interrupted and she abruptly walked away. After about 5 minutes of this and disappointingly, several other employees observing with not interjection, the charges were removed. To top it all off, I got home and my baked sushi rolls were burnt. Needless to say, this was all super disappointing.‍ read more

Next I had a couple of rolls. Volcano roll, which is a California roll with spicy mayo and some other additions. Very good, unctuous, huge pieces. Well balanced flavors, a little heat. Then the #4- I think eel, green onions, etc. Again, big pieces, nice balance of flavors, over the top stack of roe, etc., on top. Covid review. We've been coming to Mr Sushi since he opened on Hamilton Road; must be 10 years. We always feel welcome and they provide excellent service. Add to that an excellent Covid experience. Although very very busy on a Saturday night, they communicated their distancing process and trained all their associates. Implementation was a little difficult because it was so busy, but they were working hard at complying. All employees had on masks and gloves. Good job!
