I have been visiting Mr Taco for several years. I have enjoyed almost everything I've tried. Huevos a la Mexicana and Steak Tampequena are probably my favorite. Sometimes the carne asada can be a little overcooked and dry but, but not often. I've stopped going to Mr Taco because I realized they charge over $3.00 for a large fountain soda. That's crazy. There's other options nearby so I will no longer support the gouging for a soda. read more

The service was great! I was so excited that we were gonna get tacos. See I am kinda picky about flavor, needing salt etc. When my man mentions it has no flavor I know that I wasn't just being picky lol. He doesn't care for salt, pepper etc. My tacos were good but kinda dry I made it work though, added salsa and lemon and boom good. His burrito I guess wasn't good and he doesn't eat the salsa etc so he was stuck with it. Luckily we were visiting Cali for his birthday, so no biggie. I come here for a fast Mex food fix since it's literally down the street. Used to be my hot spot to hang when I attended classes in the area. Can't go wrong with any of the carne asada food items and they are pretty reasonable in price. There are coupons in the local magazines for $2 off $10 purchase. The breakfast burrito I had today with ham and bacon eggs it was awesome. Great size and of the green sauce was out of this world. The carrots and jalapeños are great as well. My daughter and I tried this place for the first time and weren't impressed. I ordered ceviche and it definitely wasn't the type that I am used to. It was very tomatoe based. I have been too busy to cook so I've been going almost everyday to order a specialty burrito. Today I ordered lunch for my co workers and my burrito. They've gotten the order wrong a few times so i asked to make sure the order was correct ( with my co workers listening) the girl was being snippy about the order and I said "forget it you don't understand." And she hung up on me! I called back and she didn't answer.I drove over there ( I had 4 other people I was ordering for ) to speak to the owner/manager and the young man said they were out of town. As I explained about my order another guy came over and said the following -I heard you drop the f bomb and s bomb ( I don't curse) -I hear you now,dropping the f bomb ( super manipulative trying to blame me for their behavior) -I don't serve entitled people -You need a mirror to look at yourself -I won't give you my name, I don't have to -My parents trust me with the business ( yikes) -We were too busy to talk to you After I paid he said: I've helped you before and you've been really nice I don't know what happened today ( uh I wanted to give you guys the ability to make it right but you were being rude to a patron accusing her of cursing and being entitled... not nice). I never yelled or cursed and I wanted to speak to the owner to resolve the issue, instead he told me I was a shitty person- his words not mine. The only reason I stayed to get the lunch was because of my co workers. I won't go back ( which I am sure is fine with the kid) but they didn't just loose my business they lost my co workers too. When he handed me my food he said have a great day! ( the sarcasm is out of control) My co workers ordered grilled fish ( they got the order wrong and she got chicken) My other co worker got the fried fish tacos - not good Magically my bean burrito had double beans Carne asada quesadilla was ok but We won't go back! Really fresh, light and great flavor - equal mix of all items in it. One of the best I've had. Overall it is a nice spot with very flavorful dishes. Large menu on the board which can be overwhelming if you're undecided. :) Burritos are HUGE, rolled tacos are piled high with cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Place gets pretty busy during the evenings. They also have a nice salsa bar with the carrots and peppers. Most options are in the $8-$12 range with a drink. Chips and salsa are extra and cost around $2. Bottled beer is also there. They open up at 7am so give their breakfast burritos a try. Great value at around $5. read more

I don't think I have ever been to a worse tasting Mexican food restaurant in Southern California. I am including Taco Bell. I have eaten at literally hundreds and hundreds of Mexican restaurants during my lifetime and never once has the restaurant slopped enchilada sauce all over my burrito without even asking!! The first clue that they don't know what they are doing is the fact that they put a burrito in a styrofoam container. The second clue was when said enchilada sauce spilled out of the styrofoam container and literally filled up the bottom of my bag. Bros. Burritos are meant to be a to go type of food. Why in the world would you think it's okay to turn it into a brown sloppy mess without warning your customers? Terrible Customer Service!! From the girl who took my order, to the manager himself! I still can't believe how I was treated at this place! The other day, I ordered a steak keto burrito from a girl on the phone on my lunch break. When I went to pick it up, it was a chicken burrito, not steak. I told the girl that wasn't what I ordered. The girl asked if I wanted her to remake the burrito but I was on my lunch and didn't have time. So I told her I couldn't because I had to get back to work. She said okay, just give her my name and phone number and come back another day to get the correct burrito for free. So I went in today to get a steak burrito. When I went in and told the girl about it, another girl walked over and said, "I'm the one who took that order, and you said chicken." I reminded the girl that I did not say chicken. She did. She misheard me when I asked for a steak burrito, and said, "you want chicken?" And I said "no, I would like steak please". Then she said "okay". Then the manager walked up and said, "I heard her take the phone order, and she said chicken". I said, "yes, SHE said chicken, and then I said, no, I would like steak, and she said okay, but she still entered chicken." Anyway, said girl asks,"did you eat the burrito?" I said "yes, because I had to eat something even though I don't like your chicken because I didn't have time to wait for them to remake it." But that was besides the point, because the other girl said to "just eat the chicken burrito and come back for the correct steak burrito another day". Which I did today. Only to basically be called a liar, by both the girl who says she took my order and her manager. I was appalled by the rudeness. I let them know that I no longer wanted anything from them and I would never return. And the rude girl responded to me, "good". So not only could she not admit she made a mistake, but preceded to basically call me a liar followed by more rudeness. And her manager basically called me a liar, too. That's just horrible business. I've been in customer service for 30 years, and I would NEVER argue with a customer. That was absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at any type of restaurant. Talk about a mom and pop shop - I have been coming here since I moved to north county and they exceed my expectations every time. They have menu options that are super authentic traditional Mexican (HUGE portions on the plates) and then great options that are a little more cali fusion which i love. The quality of food you get for the price point is a refreshing reminder that good food doesn't always have to be over priced. They have the best carne asada in north county, I do the California Burrito with it and it never disappoints!! Some more honorable mentions from the menu have to be the Breakfast Burrito, the Mini Tj Tacos, Pollo Asado Street Taco. Not to mention how incredibly friendly and welcoming the staff is (even when you're difficult like me and want your fries extra crispy in your burrito). The family energy is tangible when you walk in. I have gotten to know the Cortes' who own and operate the place and they are such lovely people. You can expect to see mom and dad working around the place and their two boys up front when you come in, which just makes you feel good when you see it - before you even get to have the delicious food! read more
