Great place hidden on hwy 5 and 380 (same shopping center as #1 Burger and Fries). Place is clean and food is awesome! We had chorizo, beef fajita, chicken fajita, and Barbacoa street tacos and most were 1.50 each. Real Mexico cokes (the best!). Also the onions are grilled which is good and the salsas will have me coming back for more. Avacado green sauce is the best! Will be a regular now that we know about it. read more

Best tacos I have had in Texas. I am from Illinois, so my standards for food are a bit high. But these tacos hit the spot. I bought Beef Fajita, Chicken Fajita, and Spicy Pork Tacos. All of them were excellent. They came with Green and Red salsa. I received it all in good time too. And the prices are moderate, not too high, not too low. Had been wanting to try this place for lunch and finally did. Very good, very fresh! We got the burrito bowl which you can build your own, Spanish or cilantro lime rice, black beans or refried , whatever meat you want (we did steak) then any free toppings included grilled veggies. It came out very fresh and delicious. If you want spicy ask for their taco sauces the red one is SO hot but flavorful. Chips and salsa were also delicious and homemade. I saw other who had the huge burrito and nachos which also looked good. Eat local and try this place! Go here if you're looking for an authentic street taco, with a jarritos or another tasty beverage to wash it down, no need to drive to Dallas... this place is where it's at!! I have followed Mr. Tako since he and his wife started in East Plano inside a gas station. A friend took me there and I was hesitant because it was inside a gas station! Very old school, no frills taco restaurant. The food was very good and service was fast. Food appears to be made in house. Not sure about the tortillas. They are surely cooked here and very fresh. The restaurant is in the back of a strip center and worth a trip off the main highway. The salsas are excellent and have nice heat! But no Chipotle sauce. We will definitely return. read more

I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of food here! Some coworkers recommended it and I wasn't disappointed! I had the California and Chicano loaded tacos. They were tasty with fresh vegetables. The lime quarter was a nice touch on the California taco. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu. I didn't notice the smell others have noted, but it did seem a bit warm on the day I was there-I'm not sure the A/C was working very well. Due to the construction within the shopping center I couldn't immediately tell if Mr Tako was still there but fortunately it is! While taco places are popping up everywhere, I find most of the offerings to be over the top and not even close to offering true street tacos. This is the exception. The food was amazing. I had the 3 taco special and ordered one chicken, one steak and one pork - all were very good. Also had some chips and queso. The hot sauce they bring out with the order is so rich in flavor and has a nice kick which I love (some might find the sauces too spicy, particularly the red sauce but I appreciated the added element). It all just works together. The person working the counter was extremely nice even checking in with me a few times during my visit. I will definitely be back! read more

I was unfamiliar with this area so I asked a kind lady in the store "where can I get some good tacos around here, preferably street tacos" and she quickly answered "Mr.Tako." I search reviews on every food place before I try it, so I was happy to learn Mr Tako was rated a 4.5 and only a mile down the road. My step dad and I headed down there, went inside where we were immediately greeted by a sweet cashier. I ordered 3 steak tacos, the California taco, and 1 flauta to try while my step dad ordered the shredded chx bowl (no rice or beans) plus 2 carnita tacos. Food was served to our table and we immediately dug in!! I can honestly say as a person from California... these tacos were super good and reminded me of home. The California taco was amazing and so were the street like tacos. Flautas were good as well but the tacos had me!!! The poblano peppers with cheese + sour cream(I requested) on the California was to die for. We found our new taco spot which will deff be worth the drive from Frisco. Everyone was super friendly and some man sitting at a table whom may have been the owner thanked us for coming, and asked us to come back which was not even a question. Great tacos at this place! Was taking care of some business in McKinney which I'm really not out that way much but however, I was starving while waiting to get my car windows tinted across the street at PRO WINDOW TINTING (which they did an amazing job btw...next review). So, at Shell gas station they recommended Mr Takos when I asked where a good place to eat was. Walked a short ways over and it was in a little shopping area kind of catty cornered so you'd have to just skim the signs til' you see it. Walked in and was greeted immediately buy the owner. Place was clean and empty at that time like about 5ish.. I was the only one there. Just checked out the legible chalkboard menus and the House Special was a taco plate with rice and beans. I got the special with chicken (3 tacos) all the way with onions, cilantro and I think that was it. I was too tired, hot and exhausted to remember but all I know is my order was ready quickly and served by the smiling young lady cook back there. I was treated like a true guest. Food was nice and hot, rice and beans tasted great and the tacos were delicious. Bought a large cup of tea for 2 bucks with free refills which was alright. It was pre-sweetened and I think just been sitting out most of the day. It wasn't bad.. Just think it was a little weak in flavor. Not knocking it.. I think it's preference thing. I'm sure they'll get a fountain soon with sodas and water. I watched soccer on one of two flat screens in there getting all hyped up about some team which I know nothing about...lol.. But it's all good because I enjoyed my meal and the hospitality I received. The nice lady took my plate for me and thanked me and the owner and I talked a bit and he thanked me as well. They got some pretty good tacos I should know I'm brown, my favorite by far are the al pastor and tripa ones. The red and green salsas that accompany their tacos are actually spicy which is a pleasant surprise to my tongue who craves the heat. read more
