I was in McKinney on business and a quick Yelp search found Big Tacos. I love tacos, who doesn't, so this was an easy choice. I ordered the Fiesta Bowl. Not a taco, but all the inside goodness. I chose carnitas as the meat. I think I made a good choice. The bowl is huge. And not all lettuce n tomatoes. Lots of meat, good refried beans, corn, shredded cheese, tortilla strips, pico and yes, lettuce n tomato's. I don't often not clean the plate, but I did this day. Again a lot of food. Pricing - a bit pricy - w/ tip, $20. But, they do deliver to the table so there's that. Good food but pricy. read more

I visited Big Taco while staying at a nearby hospital with my father & decided to try it after being there several days. I wasn't impressed at all with the steak fiesta bowl with salsa that I ordered. It was bland and the dominate flavors were lettuce and refried beans. So, I'd recommend that dish if you want a steak fiesta (burrito) bowl that tastes like lettuce and beans. I also requested salsa with my order and even clarified "like chips and salsa," but what I received was orange and green taco sauces that were both spicy and bland at the same time. Just weird. Anyways, I probably won't return based on this visit. Service was fast and friendly, but for food quality nearby fast food has Big Taco beat by miles. read more

We've been a customer of this place since they were originally located in Princeton. So far for my family, they have the best street style tacos in the McKinney (and surrounding) area. Our favorite tacos are the tripa (extra crispy), barbacoa, and chorizo. Other items we frequently order are the Mohara, Alambre, Beef Quesadilla, Torta, Churros, and the Horchata drink. Either one of the owners or one of staff would always check each table to ask if everything is okay or if they need anything. Its so nice of them, makes you feel really welcome! read more

When my Nextdoor.com buzzed about this place, I questioned is it worth the hype? It's worth the hype! I grew up with my Mexican-American bestie and this food reminds me of what her dad would prepare. The manager looks similar to Enrique Iglesias but you're here for a different kind of meat. Ha! As a creature of habit, I suggest the carne asada tacos and I order it a la carte. The kids meals are a great value. After church, sometimes you just want a corona and a slice of a lime? Big Tacos has you covered. The music and ambiance are family friendly. Casual dining. Certain peak times will have you waiting a tad. They are a newer establishment and this is to be expected. I've encouraged the manager to get on Doordash! I love supporting independent eateries, and Big Taco is a welcome addition to the McKinney restaurant scene, especially since the closure of Del Sur. It's been a bit of a bummer not having an authentic Mexican eatery on the west side of town, but luckily, Big Taco has filled that void. The only downside is that it's a counter service restaurant and lacks full service. While we usually opt out for counter service, we gave it a shot, and although we missed the option to sit at a bar, the experience was still worth it. I sampled the fish and shrimp tacos--absolutely amazing! My husband, who tends to stick to the classics, enjoyed the nachos. Despite the absence of a bar and full service, the delicious and authentic Mexican meals will keep us coming back for more. Big Taco is a hidden gem on the west side, and we're thrilled to have such a flavorful spot in the neighborhood. read more

Walked over from a nearby hotel and was pleasantly surprised. The service was super fast. The inside is functional and would have been fine but I brought the food back to the hotel and ate there. The food, however, stands out. I bought two lunch taco plates with beef, chicken, and fried and grilled fish. One was better than the other. Also got an order of homemade guacamole with unsalted chips - superb. Bonus - the bathrooms were very clean. Staff extremely friendly and I wish them well. Read reviews before coming here and we're convinced I'd have amazing tacos. They were not bad by any means but they weren't amazing either. The lady there is so nice; the place is nicely set up. The menu has a ton of options but on this day I wanted tacos. My family and I all got taco plates of some sort. I got the asada, pastor and barbacoa. The asada was not good in my opinion just lacking in flavor. The barbacoa was cooked perfectly but the flavor again was a little underwhelming. The pastor that was the winner I wish I would've gotten three of those. The flavor was great. Rice and beans were really nice; I loved the guac and the fact that the chips were house made. The sauce choices were not my favorite.... Their green salsa just wasn't jiving with my taste buds and the red spicy salsa was just ok. All in all I mean I left full and decently happy and the service was great. I just don't think I will drive out of my way to come here again. But again my opinion only. My new favorite Mexican restaurant! I discovered it this week and have been here twice already! Their Pastor meat is a seasoned pork with pineapples and it is tender and flavorful even without any sort of sauce. I had them in their street tacos with cilantro and onions and they're just amazing. They have two awesome house sauces, a spicier red and a milder green sauce, either go well with the street tacos. Their salsa actually has a kick, unlike the tomato sauces at other restaurants. Normally I like thin chips but their thicker chips are perfectly fried and crunchy without being hard. Seems everything is made fresh when you order it. All our food was hot and fresh. Had read the positive reviews of this new place so here we are at 3:30pm for a late lunch during Thanksgiving shopping. With only a couple of take out customers waiting for their food, we were quickly helped by a friendly lady behind the counter. We asked what fish was in the tacos and told it was bass. We ordered some fish tacos grilled and fried along with a must have, pastor tacos. Also added some chips and salsa as the reviews were good and a couple of drinks. We looked to find a table to wait for our food. Unfortunately a number of tables had not been bussed which was a little disappointing. But shortly after sitting down, someone came to clean up the tables and proceeded to clean all other tables wiping them down and the seats. Now the food. Salsa was good and spicy. Only disappointment were the chips which are flour instead of corn. As for the tacos, the fish tacos grilled and fried were both very tasty with a slice of avocado and chopped tomatoes. A nice sauce was provided to accompany the tacos. The pastor tacos were a disappointment. They clearly did not come from a trompo (vertical spit). Instead just small pieces of pork with pastor slices. This just does not taste the same and misses the crispiness from the freshly sliced meat. Another minor factor was the lack of a bit of pineapple which is a standard part of the pastor taco. All in all, they are new and still getting things organized. Clearly need additional staff. Food was okay but I have definitely had better (I lived in Mexico for more than 10 years). read more

I've been here several times in a 2 week span and truthfully I'll come back this weekend to try the mariscada and ostiones. This has been the best authentic Mexican food since I've moved from the West Coast. The owners are from Guanajuato and Hidalgo so if you've traveled to the central regions of Mexico you know the flavors are very simple, rustic and robust. The guac was delicious, chips are home made, the salsas are flavorful and have a nice kick. The chicken flautas nearly made me tear up... they taste like my mamas cooking. The Asada fajitas were legit AF & the cocktel mixto was fire! Over all pretty good carne Asada, barbacoa, chicken and carnitas tacos. Gracias por todo Ángel, regresamos pronto! I have been twice and ordered the nachos with steak both times. The nachos are some of the best I have had with all fresh toppings. Plan to try something different from the menu next time. First time to visit. Location is very clean, staff is super friendly, seating is limited. Can be loud when full. We ordered the Taco Plates and they were very good. Red sauce is good (but hot). Green sauce is tasty (and less hot). Next time, we are focused on the Camerones plate... it looked amazing and the folks seemed to be really happy enjoying it! Be sure to plan ahead.
