I absolutely love this place. This is my go to location to get anything done. I spend hours on end here. The drinks are amazing, the workers even more so. The service here is phenomenal. The workers are some of my favorite people on the island, especially Joanne and Scott. Terrence, Connor, Shayna and Kawelo are all phenomenal as well. This is a very welcoming environment. I personally enjoy getting the Thai iced tea blended, winter Mellon tea, honeydew mellow and Matcha milk tea. They have several nondairy options available as well. You can get regular coffee / espresso as well. When I have a long day of studying I start off with my espresso and then move on to a tea. This is my friends favorite boba shop on the island. I remember going here all the time with friends when it first opened. Over the past years, it's been forgotten but I recently visited again and remembered how good it is! Parking is in the apartment building on the corner of kapiolani and ward ave. They have a few stalls and it can get a little tight if cars are trying to go in and out. On my most recent visit, I got the jasmine green milk tea - my friends go to. I honestly had average expectations of it but one sip and I was sold! The drink was so creamy even though they use non dairy creamer and the tea was brewed just right. I remembered why my friend would rave about this place and wondered why I didn't stop by more often. The only thing is that they were out of plastic cups so they were serving them in the hot cups. One of the last places on the island where you can get a $5 Milk Tea! The Regular Oolong Milk Tea is $5.25, $5.85 with boba, and it definitely hits the spot after a long day. There are a bunch of small tables located both inside and outside the store and it's often frequented by high school and college students. As others have mentioned, there are also a limited set of board games to play and there are outlets all along the wall if you want to sit for a couple of hours and study or respond to emails. The WiFi is quick and there are bathrooms conveniently located right outside the store in the parking lot. There are a couple dedicated spots in the parking structure, but these are often filled during peak hours in the evening, especially on weekends. Other than the prices, the best thing is definitely the hours. They're open until 11 pm every day and they used to be open past midnight, making it a great late night spot to chill and chat. They also open at 11 am, making it a good place to caffeinate before or after lunch on weekdays. If you're looking for something to nibble on, there are also a bunch of Costco baked goods for sale: danishes, bagels, muffins. The staff members are all very polite and quickly prepare orders. In a world where inflation is winning and tapioca drinks can cost eight to nine dollars, this place provides great value. read more

While it's odd that they're open until midnight, I certainly am NOT going to complain because I was so thankful to have a place to sit while enjoying tea and a light dessert without having to go full-fare at a restaurant! We had no idea what to expect and their menu board is a little confusing. They DO offer coffee, but unfortunately there is no decaf option. Understandable, since it's not a coffee joint. haha. Their non-dairy options (according to the cashier) consist of oat milk or soy, and since I am allergic to soy I went with oat milk! I got a "zero" sweetness level, and my tea was still quite sweet. I assume the oat milk itself has some sort of sweetener in it, which is fine but was unexpected. We also tried their macron selection on for side... the macrons are extremely delicious! I was a little surprised that they were COLD, but I suppose they chill them to keep them fresh? Or maybe they transport them frozen, I am not really sure. Either way, we enjoyed them. My favorite was the green tea macron, but my friend enjoyed the red velvet cake flavor the most! I very much enjoyed the books that are all over. I spent some time thumbing through a reprinted copy of the Classic Winnie the Pooh story books, and that was a fun way to entertain my brain while I enjoyed my tea. The loss of stars is primarily due to the extremely high prices with limited selection but also because the customer service was left wanting, majorly. It's great that they're open late, but the employees clearly couldn't wait to go home. It's not bad, BUT... I don't know that I'd go out of my way to go back... the prices are extremely high (even for Hawaii) and the quality isn't really any different than other places I can go for a better selection. read more

I was slightly confused when they didn't add any fruit and only used mango syrup. I guess I just expected it to be made with at least some fruit so it might've just been an error on my end. I wanted to give you fair warning because I sure wasn't excepting that. Watermelon milk tea w/ lychee jelly: A pretty pink drink that tastes similar to creamy watermelon bubble gum. My brother thought this was a hit so it's good for kids. He rated it a 4.1/5. I think it was good considering he got 100% sweetness (I'm usually a 25% gal). The lychee jelly was also surprisingly good in this. The customer service was good and the seating by the windows is nice especially on a bright, sunny day. Overall, I'd give it a 3-3.5/5 but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt considering that this place is known for bubble tea. read more

Confession: I've been driving into town for Mr. Tea THREE times within a week. First time, my bestie told me about Mr. Tea Cafe after we toured Iolani Palace because my niece wanted Boba tea. I'm not a fan of boba tea but noticed they have smoothies. I ordered their passion fruit mango smooth (unsweetened). It was so good that I gave myself a painful brain freeze. It was so good that after I had a hair appointment with Sheryl in the Ward area, I decided to go there a second time on a Wednesday. Third time was this past Saturday after powerlifting training at Mana Barbell. I didn't care if I was sweaty and smelly, it was a must-have moment. The location is easy to find. So far, parking hasn't been an issue. The menu has a variety ranging from teas, coffee and smoothies along with pastries. Very chocolatey, you can taste the Nutella. My bf liked it very much (big thumbs up)! I got the cereal milk tea smoothie with boba. You get to choose one of the cereals they have and they'll make it into a drink. I chose Captain Crunch! Very sweet (100% sweetness), but I like sweet. My friend and I were really craving boba, and Mr. Tea was one of the few places open late. It's a very cute little boba shop, and it was pretty crowded when we went after 10pm. There's books and board games to play inside. Luckily, my friend and I were able to get a seat indoors. Parking was kind of difficult. We drove up the ramp and realized we couldn't park there since it says not for Mr. Tea customers. We were lucky enough to find parking on the ground floor close to the store. I've come several times and finally decided to do a review. Like many others boba places, I think their fruit iced teas and most iced teas are tasty. I ordered a strawberry yogurt rice drink this past visit. It was tasty but this is not the place to go if you want rice yogurt drinks. The drink was really thin and watery so the rice all floated to the bottom. Not too fun to drink :/ Also, it seems like the workers their don't know the menu very well... a friend asked for an affogato, but no one working knew what it was. What?! How do they not know what's on their own menu. I also find it concerning that none of their workers wear gloves. They handle money and directly after are working on the drinks. Personally, I think that sanitization and hygiene should be prioritized during this time especially. In addition, wearing masks isn't enforced either. They refused - probably because they have quite a bit of customers that want a refund and just can't afford to refund cuz they don't have returning customers. Consistent, cute, convenient boba tea spot. Mr. Tea has become a recent go-to since 1. Found out a fellow Yelper is able to get work done here (I had a prejudice that it would be difficult to concentrate given its smaller size), 2. Found out how close it is to the church service I usually attend :) My fave drink so far has been the Roasted Oolong, either with or without milk. They use a non-dairy creamer, which I appreciate. Some dairy unfortunately breaks me out. Good to know I can dodge a pimple or two lol. Stress-levels accounted for, I'd probably break out anyway....but I digress. Warm chamomile tea is also a go-to of mine to de-stress. I get all my boba drinks 0% sweet, always with boba. The boba here maintains its chew, even after sitting in ice. I notice some ppl get no/light ice maybe to avoid the boba getting icy. I've never had that issue here; as it's been a problem at other places. I like that they have metal straws too if you're into that. I've sometimes forgotten since the straws are on the other end of the food display. Make sure to leave them to get washed! I found Mr. Tea Cafe after one of my provider visits in town while working. My colleague and I found the place easily and I fortunately found street parking on the side. The place is a little warm inside but the decor has this Kawaii Kon themed interior, which I could totally relate to. The books (which all had the types of genre I was into), the Gundam figurines (which I also had when I was intermediate) and the manga (which I've collected also in the past) really gave me nostalgia. Service was great - they were always friendly and quick to assist. There was a long line at one point when I visited after Chaminades graduation at the Blaisdell but it went by pretty quick. The location is convenient. Parking was easy to find, it's literally across the Blaisdell Arena (walking distance) and it's open late - closes at 12am! I've only tried 2 drinks here but I'm already a fan. I had the Cinnamon Toast Crunch drink that I really enjoy and would love to order again. I also had the "Potted" milk tea, which I enjoyed as well. The Potted milk tea had this cool concept to look like a potted plant (literally). To recreate the dirt, a bed of crushed Oreo cookies are added atop before the final garnish of a single micro green completes the illusion of a potted plant. I enjoyed the creativity of this.
