I've been here several times since it opened a couple of years ago and I stop whenever I go to Kahala mall. I had never heard of their speciality Kuromitsu Kinako milk and wasn't sure what to expect but it's SO GOOD. It's a black sugar syrup (Kuromitsu) and roasted soybean flour (Kinako) It has a nutty sweet flavor and it blends together wonderfully. It's a nice alternative to coffee or matcha. I've also had the li hing drinks here in the past and it's also really good and tangy. My daughter got the strawberry yogurt drink with boba and it had fresh strawberries and a nice tangy taste. She loved it. This booth is located in the central area of Kahala mall. The drinks are always ready fast and the baristas are sweet and explain any questions you have and can make recommendations for you as well. I usually get a refreshing drink (one without milk). The first time I came here I got the Yuzu Soda which was really nice. You could really taste the yuzu well and usually at other places it is hard to taste. This time around I got the Li Hing Strawberry Pineapple drink with boba. The worker was friendly and recommended kid-friendly drinks, my kids ended up choosing the strawberry milk with boba and I tried the strawberry matcha on ice with boba. Kuromitsu is a sweet dark Japanese sugar syrup that is similar to molasses and Kinako is a very unique taste, being it is Japanese roasted soybean flour, giving a nutty taste. A great combination with the milk! You can substitute different milk for $1 extra. These drinks full price can be expensive when adding boba too. If you have a sweet tooth, I'd recommend. Not bad for a small boba tea shop inside a mall. While my experience wasn't perfect, I still think it's worth a visit. We ordered the li hing pineapple and matcha milk, and unfortunately, both drinks fell a bit short of our expectations. The li hing pineapple drink was overly sweet without adding or changing the sweetness level, which made it quite difficult to finish (maybe we'll get 25% instead of regular sweetness next time). The matcha also had a little too much milk, which diluted the flavor and left me feeling unsatisfied. However, despite the drinks not being up to par, the service was prompt and friendly. The staff was attentive and helpful, which made the experience much more enjoyable. Overall, while the drinks weren't perfect, I would be willing to come back and give it another try (maybe i will try their signature kuromitsu kinako), especially with the great service :) read more
