Please avoid this place at all costs. They take advantage of the consumer and over charge. I was charged $80 in miscellaneous labor fees to mount one tire & rim, and they refused to provide me a breakdown for that cost of labor. They also said it would only be $60 if I paid in cash which I did not have cash, so they are not trustworthy. It also took over 2 hours for them to mount the tire. read more

I recently had my vehicle serviced at Mr. Tire located at 1746 East Joppa Road in Towson, Maryland. I entrusted them to perform an oil change and tire rotation. Unfortunately, a week after the service, I discovered that the sensor in my left tire was malfunctioning. When checking the air pressure in my tires, I noticed that the left tire was not registering a reading, while the other three tires indicated 35 PSI, which is higher than the recommended 32 PSI, particularly in cold weather conditions. Upon contacting Mr. Tire to inform them of the issue they had caused, they surprisingly attempted to charge me $160 to repair the sensor in my tire I will never patronize another Mr Tire I don't care if it's in another state . read more

No one is at the desk and there was already a gentleman waiting to be helped. A young man in a sweatsuit that was sitting in the waiting area walked behind the desk and asked what I was there for. I told him an oil change and he went outside to a car that looked to be running. While he went to the car, an older guy came out to the desk, on his phone on a personal call while waiting on a customer. He asked what I needed, told him, he tells me the equipment isn't working for an oil change. I asked when would it be fixed. I was told "sometime next week". I've gotten tires at this Mr. Tire location several times over the years without issue and am disappointed to be writing a negative review now. I called Mr. Tire on a Saturday morning because my car's check engine light was on and the engine died after turning on the car. They said that I could have the car towed to the shop and they would diagnose it. Later that afternoon I called to check on the car and was told that the diagnostic revealed that my car needed a new mass air flow sensor. It was nearly closing time, so I said I'd call back in the morning to inform them if I'd go ahead with the repair. The next morning I called and was told that Mr. Tire didn't have the part, couldn't order it through their vendors and that if I wanted the repair done, I would need to buy the part and deliver it myself to the shop. I've never had a mechanic instruct me to buy a part needed for a repair. There is an Advanced Auto Parts less than 500 feet from the shop, but the Mr. Tire receptionist refused to retrieve the part because of "corporate policy". I decided against buying the part myself and planned to get the car towed to a more cooperative mechanic. I still needed to pay for the diagnostic. I asked to pay via phone or internet and was told this was "against corporate policy" and that I would have to come pay in person. So I had to drag my five year old on the bus to Mr. Tire to pay instead of being able to give my credit card information over the phone. In addition, the Mr. Tire receptionist called me twice during the day when he meant to call a different customer. When I was paying in person, I heard the same receptionist call a customer to inform them their repair was done and they could come pick up their car. Moments later the receptionist called back that customer and apologized, saying their car wasn't ready and he had refused that customer's car with someone else's. Anyone can have a bad day, but these errors affirmed the shoddy and disorganized way the shop was being run. I am definitely never patronizing the Mr. Tire at Howard Street location again. read more

I needed an oil change, and made an appointment for 11 am. I dropped off way before 11. The car wasn't ready until about 3:30 pm, three and a half hours after they said it would be ready. Having not heard from them, I called them 45 minutes after they said car would be ready and they were full of excuses ("were still backed up on a 9 am appointment" at 12:45 pm) but not an apology. When I picked up, after my credit card payment went through they said the computer was broken so they could not print a receipt for service!! SKETCHY. I had them hand write and sign one, not knowing what else to do. It also appears they didn't do any of the usual extras that come with an oil change - no topping off wiper fluid or tire pressure, etc. Use Jeff at Sisson Street Automotive for any real service or repairs (he is the dream knowledgeable and honest mechanic, see his reviews!) and if you do need a quick oil change or flat fix, Mr. Tire on Howard is not the place. read more

My girlfriend and I made an appointment for 9:30 to fix a flat, which to me suggested that if we took the car there at 9:30, it would be a quick fix and we'd be on our way. They told us 45 minute wait, which was odd because we had the appointment, but it got worse because we ended up waiting a total of 2 hours! It also took forever just to pay after the repair was complete. The mechanic was nice and friendly, but they just seem to be really short staffed. Stopped by yesterday to get a new front tire. The street I live on has a lot of new construction and rehabs of old homes so I've gotten quite a few nails in my tires over the past 5 months or so, which I usually just plug. My front tire, however, won't hold the plugs any longer so I had to get a change. That brings me to my experience here. The man I talked to yesterday was incredibly condescending and tried to charge me $170 for a new tire. Initislly I agreed even though I thought the price was egregious. He then said it would be a few minutes. "How much is a few minutes", I asked, to which he replied 3 hours. Needless to say, I left and earlier today I drove to Tires 4 Less on Ritchie Hwy. and got 2, not ONE but TWO BRAND NEW tires for $160. This place sucks. Would give 0 stars if I could. read more

I booked a 10 am CarAdvise appointment today for a Fusion oil change, tire rotation, and brake inspection. CarAdvise is a fleet account. When you use a fleet account, you do not pay the shop directly. You get a membership card that says "DO NOT PAY SHOP" at the bottom (photo of card attached), with directions for the shop to charge the national fleet account--kinda like how a coupon will have directions for a cashier. Despite this, they still tried to charge over $200 invoice. Very unprofessional and shady practices. CarAdvise and corporate should know that this shop attempts to extort its fleet account customers by asking them to pay extra and not honoring the price that they have shown on CarAdvise. I had another CarAdvise appointment today at 9 am at an independent shop in Lanham, MD and that car was in and out, with no issues, and nobody asked the driver who brought the car for any money upfront. It was a smooth, seamless transaction, as fleet account car maintenance should be. I can not say the same for this shop, and I will never be back. read more

Car owners beware!! I took my car to Mr. Tire Auto Service Center because my engine light came on and my car started shaking. The gentleman at the front desk was courteous and professional and, let me know that my car needed a diagnostic test in order to determine what was wrong with my car. The diagnostic test cost revealed I needed several things done, among them, receiving a new coil pack, fuel injection system clean and a new tire. The quoted price for the work was $1677 dollars which included the price of the diagnostic test ($148). Since I did not have $1677 readily available, it was suggested that I apply for financing to get these repairs done. After thinking it through, I asked to cancel the work for that day, paid $148 for the diagnostic test and rescheduled to have repairs done 4 days later so I could get the money needed for repairs. Well... I decided to ask for references to another mechanic and was referred to a highly recommended mechanic. This new mechanic ran a FREE diagnostic test, discovered the same problems and quoted me a price (parts and labor) of $479. Yes, you are reading this right, $479 a price difference of $1,198!! The price difference mad me say WTH!! It is this kind of fixing that gives mechanics a bad name. Just for the record, I visited a third mechanic who quoted me a price of $433 but his location was too busy to accommodate my schedule. This shop will never get my business again!! They did not tell me prior to finishing, as they knew I would fail before they started the inspection! The manager guy, Rick, swindled me and he is rude...I think because I am a woman. I took my car to Mr. Tire because a message was telling me that my tire needed air, so I wanted them to check the pressure and correct the issue if need be. I also opted to get an alignment because I was worried that perhaps my alignment was eating my tires. He told me that the tire pressure was perfectly fine and that everything was good to go. I paid the $110 for the alignment right as the shop was closing on a Saturday evening. The next day, I took my car out and noticed, again, that the pressure error message was coming up. The guy at Mr. Tire and I had talked about the fact that maybe a sensor was out, especially since they SUPPOSEDLY checked my pressure and it was good. However, a new message popped up: "TIRE NEEDS AIR NOW." I know what that means - a flat. I called my insurance and they had someone come out to look at the tire... TWO HOLES. I have no idea how Mr. Tire failed to notice this or the fact that my tire pressure was actually not at the recommended PSI. I don't know what kind of joint this place runs, but it seems awfully convenient that I simply had low pressure, took my tire to them, and suddenly had two holes in it? Regardless, I called them the next morning and they were very willing to sell me a new tire at a discounted rate. I took my car there the next morning and in all of Mr. Tire's brilliance, they had SOLD the tire that was supposed to replace the flat tire that they didn't notice, despite the fact that I specifically asked them to check my pressure. I went elsewhere and I will never, ever, ever, ever give Mr. Tire a dime. Ever. UPDATE: I've received many phone calls from various Mr. Tire representatives. Since I believe that my alignment was not done correctly at the first Mr. Tire, I will be taking my car to the new Mr. Tire which opened in White Marsh. I will be including a follow-up review once they've checked my alignment. UPDATE: I've received numerous calls from various Mr. Tire reps. One call offered a $50 gift card (I declined). Today, I did the follow up with the Mr. Tire in White Marsh. Very nice staff - they checked my alignment for free, gave me a print out showing my alignment before and my alignment after they did work on it. Extremely friendly and quick. I would consider using them as my permanent tire shop, despite the fact that it's 20 minutes out of the way. read more

After hearing from the good folks at Mr. Tire that my tire had two nails in it and couldn't be repaired, I limped it to another service station to have the tire replaced. The folks there did not find any nails in the tire or any other visible damage. When I called Mr. Tire, the manager gave me the following explanations: 1.) There was a mix-up, he specifically remembers that the nails were in another guy's tire. 2.) "Bring the car over and I'll show you the nails." 3.) I exaggerated the nature of the leak (apparently calling the nails into existence and making them disappear the next day) and there was never a problem. 4.) I must have made a mistake because there hasn't been a complaint about the shop in TWENTY YEARS. Utterly bewildering. It's like they saw the movie Gaslight and said to themselves "hey, this would be a great way to run a business." Never again. read more

I went to Mr. Tire for a run-of-the-mill oil change. I walked in without an appointment and asked them how long the wait would be, explained that I was slightly pressed for time, and the man at the counter said 1 hour. It ended up taking nearly 2.5 hours. I know things can get backed up, but in that case I don't want to be quoted a time frame and have to wait more than double that. That being said, I did get a tire patched up from them a few years back and everything went smoothly. Still- 1 negative experience and 1 acceptable experience receives a thumbs down. read more

Great service no complaints , Ms. Ty is the best !! Signed up for the good year credit card and got an added discount so that was a plus! This location is near a car wash and Popeyes so I ate, then was able to get my car washed when the services were done. Overall the pricing was reasonable so I was able to get all the work done for an affordable price. Only con was I did have an appointment but I wasn't seen until maybe an hour after that time because other cars were late or needed more work then originally stated so it was a little later than I expected that i did leave the shop. read more

Then I waited. And waited. After seeing multiple cars go in front of mine I asked about my vehicle after an hour and was told "it's next." I left to go to a coffee shop and returned after another hour. My car had not moved but I saw new vehicles in their garage. After 30 more minutes I called elsewhere to make an appointment and requested to cancel my service order. They offered to reschedule but I declined. The attitude of the service representative was very unwelcoming as well. Previous review: Dropped my car off in the morning to get serviced, had it ready by the afternoon.
