Came here on an accidental recommendation from a friend. Parking outfront, but it's also next to a large surface lot to park your car. Henry is the desk attendant, super nice!! (I hope the charger and cord have been helpful for ya!) Steve took care of my car. I came in for an electrical diagnosis but they were able to check out the issues first, before going thru a diagnosis. A fuse for my charger and left tail light assembly came to a little over $400. There is a 3% charge if you're using a credit card No coffee. Just a few chairs to wait. Bathroom is in the reception area. Walkable to some quick eateries, dollar tree, nail salon etc. I was kept uptodate on all services, ideas to fix, price etc. Seemed like everyone was in an out. My service took a few hours because I decided to wait on a part to arrive for same day service. Otherwise, I was given the option to come back for the work I would def come back! Went there for the 1st time because of the good reviews. Drove my car dropped it off and Ask to have my Fuel Pump situation looked into. a week later they tell me my engine died and now my car isn't starting at all and making a whole new sound. Mind u I drove there it there no problem. The only explanation I received was my engine just died. One mechanic said it died before they could get it on the lift another mechanic said it died before. ultimately I feel a part was removed and i feel if I didn't take my car there it would still move. idk if it was because I was a new customer or because my car had alot of miles on it but they seemed extremely indifferent with my situation. U can take my experience however u want but it just doesn't sit right with me so I had to share it. read more

After reading reviews I contacted this repair center for a 2nd opinion. AAA car repair had a list of recommended repairs totaling over $2400. The technician took the car out for a short drive, inspected it & told me what NEEDED to be done. What AAA pointed out wasn't wrong, just not an immediate problem. I took my truck there because my thermostat light keep coming on. I was asked a few questions. I told the mechanic that the light comes on when the Air Conditioner is turned. I was told that I needed an engine. Supposedly I had a cracked engine block. I had some questions of my own. How did that happen or what caused that.I was told that I must have ran the truck when it was running hot. The mechanic said that he would call around a get a price for a used engine. I said ok. After about 5 minutes he said he had located a used engine. I thought to myself that was quick. A used engine was going to cost $5600 and some change. I told the mechanic I needed to think about it. He said absolutely it's ok to drive it like that for a while. I said ok and left. The idea just didn't sit well with me. I took it somewhere else. I need a new thermostat. Charing Cross is ripping people off. Mainly women. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

Beating the Major Repair Companies The guys at Charing Cross Car Center are terrific! Here's an example of what happened to me: I had been experiencing a slow leak on one of my tires. I had taken my car to a major tire dealer down the street, and they said it was some corrosion inside my rim causing the leak, and that the rim was true, and otherwise fine. I tried 2 other places that gave me the same story, each of them saying they don't remove contamination from inside the rims. I wasn't worried, I just pumped up the tire every other day or so, and I had plans to have someone takeoff the tire and I would clean the corrosion from the rim, when I had a chance. A few weeks later I had my car at Charing Cross to replace some belts. I mentioned the slow leak to the mechanic, and he said "Well do you mind if we take a look?" I said sure go ahead. It has been a month now, and I've had no loss of air pressure from my tire, thanks to these guys! They do the work that I would do for my own car, at fair prices, and at a reasonable pace. read more

COMPLETE RIPOFFS. $220 in parts for front brake (rotor and pad) replacement and cleaning/adjusting rear brakes. Absolutely unreasonable prices. There's no justification for that cost when you can find them at any auto parts store for $125 easily. This is the CONSUMER price. I'm assuming they're getting wholesale/discounted prices, which makes it that much worse. Such a waste of money, no wonder you can't trust mechanics nowadays.
