Even though this service center already owes me money from the last time they over charged me, I thought I'd give them a quick shot again so I called and made an appointment, I arrived before my appointment time only to be told they have no time to get my car in. Apparently they have an answering service that doesn't know how many cars and how to make accurate appointments. Terrible service and attitude. Will never use them again even in a bind. read more

I recently scheduled a tire fix with Mr. Tire for 10:00 AM, based on what their call center told me. When I arrived, I found out that the actual appointment time was an hour later. It turns out their call center, which seems to be located who knows where, gave me the wrong time entirely. I think it's important for them to know that this kind of miscommunication is frustrating for customers. If you're going to rely on a remote call center, please make sure they have the correct scheduling info so customers aren't stuck waiting an extra hour. read more

Had an appointment for an inspection at 11am, got there 5 minutes early. I asked how long it would take, the receptionist said 1 hour. After an hour and 15 minutes, I look out and see my car parked in the same spot. I ask the receptionist how much longer, she says that I'm next up. I thought she meant that I would be next to leave, but she actually meant next to get inspected, even though my appointment already had begun over an hour ago, and I was told it would only take one hour. At 12:40 I ask how much longer and remind her that she said my appointment would take one hour, and it's been almost 2. She says that the inspection itself takes one hour, and just because I come in at 11 does not mean I leave at 12. By having an appointment scheduled, it does not mean that my inspection will happen at the scheduled appointment time, just that my inpsection will happen that day. None of this was communicated to me, and I have never heard of that before anywhere else. Not for nothing, another guy in the waiting room has been here since 8am. He did not have an appointment, but he has been waiting for 6 hours. read more

They lied because they couldn't match a exhaust pipe and said the whole system was rusted. Now that being the wrong exhaust for my truck is literally falling off my truck. I guess the idiot didn't know how to hook up the brackets to hold the pipes.. I was stranded with a flat tire, changed it myself and had to get back to work asap. So, I was in a hurry. I went to (creepy and filthy) Monroe Auto Service and Tire Center on Court Street to get it repaired because I once was well-served by a guy there years ago. Well, how things have changed there! I walked in and no one was at the counter; some random guy in street clothes was in the shop and saw me but ignored me and kept working; I waited 5 more minutes, but no help came. I decided that if Monroe can't even greet their customers, how much slower is their service? I left and drove down the street to Big E Tire which just happened to be the next tire place. I had no previous contact with Big E Tire at all. What a night and day difference! Big E Tire was modern, clean, and there were two counter people working. I was greeted by a bright, articulate, young professional, who wrote up my ticket and took my keys. They got the car in immediately. Within half an hour I was back on the road -- with NO COST to fix my flat! Seriously, no cost! Obviously, Big E Tire incurred costs to fix my flat: labor, overhead (any business in NY knows how expensive it is just to open the doors!!), the patch, etc. Big E Tire is investing in their prospective customers by showing kindness and professional service. As I left, the counter clerk said, "Be sure to bring it in for an oil change." You can bet I will repay Big E Tire's kindness with some of my auto maintenance business. Highly recommend supporting Big E Tire! I couldn't have had a better experience there. On the other hand my experience with Monroe Auto Service and Tire Center was a waste of time. read more

So after following up with the customer service manager in Buffalo, NY via phone I was offered free oil changes, coupons incenting me to come back. After 300 miles from the oil change on my crosstour the oil life started to read that the oil life was 50% so the oil was not even full synthetic as requested. The business is on the Vestal Parkway not Court St in case the update did not submit. Needless to say I just wanted the problem fixed correctly, and not throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks. On another note while I was there the manager told a customer she had gas in her oil and may have to have the engine replaced (after seeing the crap result of their oil change on my car and imagining where that customer was at I can see why). Conclusion; morbid curiosity could be costly. read more

Four weeks ago I went to Mr. Tire - Vestal for a humming sound in my passenger rear tire area. They told me that I needed new shocks and that the other shocks had "chewed up" both rear tires. I purchased two new tires and had them put in new shocks/struts ($700+). I also had them perform an oil change. Today I took my 2008 Civic Honda back in because the passenger rear tire area now clunks and i can sometimes smell burning rubber. While I was there, I utilized a $10 off coupon for an inspection. One hour later the manager called me to say that my car had passed inspection and they couldn't find a reason for the clunking. He recommended $700 new shocks for the front because "sometimes that can create noise in the back and my car had 50,000 miles on it anyway". When I needed clarification that there was nothing wrong with the back shock that had just been put in one month ago he said they'd look into it further. He seemed somewhat surprised that they had put in new shocks four weeks ago. Seemed he didn't notice the record of it or what I had said to him on the phone when making the appointment. A few hours later he called to let me know that they found a cracked bushing in the rear passenger shock area and had replaced it and that the clunking sound was gone. When I picked up the car that day I expressed my concern that it was recommended that I spend another $700+ on the car and then turned out that it wouldn't have fixed the issue. The manager and I got into words regarding this. He had also changed my vehicle's oil even though it had been done four weeks prior. He thought I had requested it because of the coupon I was using for the $10 off of inspection (same coupon also included a discounted oil change). He charged me for the oil change but that was reversed by the assistant manager. This is an abbreviated review of the conversations that occurred today. I will not go back to this facility and recommend against other's using them. read more

Ask for George (if he's not already at the desk), who helped me a lot when I needed two front tires replaced. He was patient with me, as I changed my appointment two or three times... told me all my options for service and let me adjust based on price... gave honest advice about further work I might need... and most of all, when I made a big deal about a refund, he was calm cool and collected and seemed to genuinely care about customer best interest. This was one of the most accommodating places in the area. The manager Jim switched my appointment to earlier in the day in no time, and was extremely polite and courteous. His employees were amazing as well, they were all so friendly, fast and respectful. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs car work. i come here once in a while when i'm too broke to go to my usual mechanic. these guys are more expensive, but it's a major company that will issue you a credit card to forever put you into debt, so unfortunately, i have to go here sometimes. the guys here are usually nice, but there's been times where i feel like i have been talked into getting stuff fixed that really didn't need to be repaired, and a couple times now they have overlooked major issues while i was here for a visit. back in january i came in for a couple new tires and i bought an alignment plan. they put the new tires on and did the alignment and failed to notice that i needed a new wheel bearing pretty badly. so i went back a week later and got that fixed and they told me that the alignment i just got the previous week was probably no good anymore. flash forward 7 months and THE SAME THING HAPPENED!!! i went in for a couple new tires, another alignment, an oil change, and a couple other things and i ended up with a $900 bill because of other things they found, while yet again COMPLETELY MISSING THAT I NEEDED YET ANOTHER NEW WHEEL BEARING. yup, this time the passenger side bearing needed to be repaired, and they completely overlooked that, while changing other stuff that probably didn't need to be done. they have some good specials and deals once in a while, but really you're better of going somewhere more honest and more competent. read more

Went in to have an estimate done for brakes. They called me and made it seem like they were doing me a favor by mentioning they are inputting all possible discounts and coupons. After all the "bull" about sales and what not, they said I can have all round brakes, rotors, labor and other parts all for $965 (that was the final discount from original price of about $1200 according to the guy over the phone). When I went to go pick up my car I complained and told them I was not going with the service, they questioned me as to why I am not going to go with the service and they will "not be undersold". So he pulled up my information over the PC and "negotiated" me down to $389. WOW... (Now let me be clear.. $400 for my car is fair. I was not looking for cheaper than that. But going from $1200 down to $400 is simply the WOW factor) .... I ended up getting another reliable mechanic in town to complete the job.
