I drive a 2002 Ford Focus. Never had any major problems with it. A few days ago my check engine light came on. I took it to Mr. Tire and they checked it out, said there was a problem with a valve and replaced it. When they showed me the form to sign I noticed what they had written for the miles was about 20,000 off. I questioned this and they guy at the desk looked at it, confused and said he must have just written down a number. I was a little annoyed but wrote it off since they fixed the problem, or so I thought. 2 days later, after which I had driven my car less than 50 miles post-check up, the check engine light came on again. I don't know much about cars but something tells me this is something they should have noticed. I'm not sure how this level of incompetence is even possible... read more

while this is a review based on an experience abt a year ago, I had a service related problem just the other day, based on sloppy work performed at that time. My first issue wld be that i made an appt for 8am on a saturday to have 4 new tires put on my car. i was told that I would be able to pick my car up at noon. this was not the case. when i returned to the store for the third time at 4pm and only ONE TIRE was on the car I explained that my car had been there at 0800 and i had made an appt weeks in advance. i was told that 'other people' were waiting actually IN the store, the walk ins with no appt, and that they were the priority. the woman behind the counter was quite rude and fairly hostile when she gave me that little tidbit of information. i would have argued my point but she was pretty menacing so i sat there in the store with the 'priority' customers like a sheep until close to 6pm, and waited for my car. when i was finally able to check out, the guy behind the counter, i have no idea where the B went but i was OK w it. anyway, this guy tells me that my brakes need to be replaced. i explained to him that my brakes were 4 mos old and asked him why he thought they were worn. he said 'oh well, i couldnt really see them it was just a guess' yeah, thanks guy. fast forward a year and this brings us to my current situation. i was out at dinner the other night and when i got out of the car to go in to the restaurant i heard air rushing out of my left front tire and fast! i literally watched it deflate within 2 min time. to say i was shocked wld be an understatement. my dinner partner suggested pulling the tire after we ate, throw the donut on and i would have the repair done the next day. i was thinking there was a huge nail in there at this point. not the case. i got lucky on the way home and while this garage near my house was closed, the guys were still there. they pulled the donut and got my tire out - no nail. what had happened was that the wheel covers had been put back on incorrectly when my 9 hour install took place and the STEM on that tire had been compacted for so long that it finally just snapped! i had to replace the stem and now have to go back to have the tire pressure monitor replaced as a result. all 4 of my tires had the wheel covers on the same way so now i can live in fear of the other 3 tires having the same issue. so this store is now costing me money. this is the 3rd experience I have had at this particular Mr Tire that has been sub par at best. the first go around i had a tire that kept going flat after they had installed it because the seal wasnt correct. had to have that repair done at a different shop because they are SO SLOW at Mr Tire i just dont have the time to wait 4-5 hours to fix something that they should have been able to do correctly in the first place. i have also gone in to inquire about an oil change thinking i cld get it done while doing my grocery shopping. well that took THREE hours after they told me ONE hour and my food was not frozen when i finally got it home. i now go to the adjacent Valvoline place and am in and out in less than 30 min and never have to get out of the car. after this latest experience with Mr Tire i can honestly say i will never set foot in that store again and suggest you do the same until they have more than 2 or 3 good reviews with the supposed new management. i wld only give them one star but am doing two for the benefit of the doubt where new management is concerned, even tho i will never meet them because i wont be going back for another visit. i wish you the best of luck if you ever cross their threshold! read more

Went in for an oil change. They tried to charge me in $50 in labor to pop in a headlight (and wrote it up as brake service which I didn't request and said the labor was equivalent... even said they were trying to up their brake service sales). Then they tried to charge me over $400 for brake pads and rotors, even "showed" me how terrible they both were. Another shop told me my rotors were perfectly fine and I still had of lots of life left on my brake pads and could get another 60,000 miles out of them safely and easily. After filling out a customer service survey that was emailed to me, I was met with a bunch of excuses and finally told, "Sorry for calling." read more

I had an appointment for about a week to get 4 new tires. After taking the morning off from work, I arrived to find out that they only had 1 of the 4 tires. Apparently they do not know how to operate a phone, so I wasted my morning off (they couldn't get the tires in until the afternoon when I had to be back at work). Worse yet was the indifferent attitude from the employee. It must be nice to be so successful that you don't need to worry about taking care of customers. Found a nail in tire on a Sunday morning (12/21/2014). Called around and this was only place open. In spite of past reviews, I needed to get tire fixed, so gave them a try. Drove in at about 1:25 PM and was back on road by 2:45 PM. They were pretty busy, but fit me in and did a great job. Cost was reasonable/typical, as far as I can tell: ~$30. I'd give them another chance, and appreciate that they were open on a Sunday (before Christmas, too). read more

I took my truck in because the AC they installed just 2 years ago was blowing hot air. They called me and told me that the AC was overcharged and this compromised the compressor. When I told them THEY installed it, they claimed they had no record of them ever doing work on my truck. I insisted that it indeed WAS them who did the work. They called back about 20 minutes later and told me that the compressor limit switch was bad, but in order to bring it back under warranty, the entire system had to be replaced. I declined and asked them if replacing the switch would fix it. I was told it would. I authorized the repair. Less than an hour later they called and told me it was done. I went, paid $300 and, you guessed it, it was still blowing hot air. I was told the AC mechanic had left for the day. I have never felt like I have been given the runaround from a business as much as I have from here. I'll be taking my vehicles somewhere else from now on. There are plenty of honest car repair shops around. I don't feel like this is one of them anymore read more

Had an appointment here around the holidays. I had scheduled my appointment roughly a week in advance. I arrived early to my appointment, and as soon as I walked in I overheard the employee behind the front desk arguing with a customer. He was being extremely rude to her, and I could already tell that I most likely wasn't going to have a pleasant experience either. After he finished speaking to her and she walked away defeated, I approached the desk and told him my appointment time. He begins entering my information on the computer and sighs, clearly exasperated, and asks me if I am able to leave my car over night. I calmly said no and explained I needed my car for work the following morning. He asked if I could come back another day. With an attitude, he explained they're short-staffed and everyone has been calling out sick, blahblahblah. I told him I'd call back to reschedule (which I definitely did not bother to do). From overhearing the other woman's negative experience.. I gathered that they just stink all around here. I've had pleasant experiences in the past but I will NEVER waste my time again. Don't expect customers to honor appointments if you can't do it yourselves, good grief! At least have the decency to call customers IN ADVANCE and tell them you can not honor their appointment! But no, no logic at this location whatsoever! You would think if they know someone's car is on the fritz or in need of repairs, they'd have the decency to call you and tell you to come in at a later time when more mechanics are available. They don't care about the customers, and don't treat them with respect. Despicable service. read more

If I could give this place, negative stars, I would. I encountered the absolute WORSE repairs, customer service and accountability at this shop. I sent my car to this repair shop only because of it's relationship with Tire Rack and the dire need of brakes. After a day of my car being at the shop, I was notified that a set of tires failed to be delivered (Tire Rack's fault). After resolving that issue, the next when I was told to pick up my car, I was called late in the evening and told that they messed up my rotors and would have to replace them, on their dime. Fine, but upon picking up my car, I noticed that my car was literally leaning on the side. The store manager also noted it and failed to inform me prior and insisted that the car came in that way. Not only is that poor practice for: (A) attempting to service a car that was "defective"; (B) failing to notify the owner of the "defect" prior to completing requested work is being done; (C) returning a "defective" car to an owner after you completed work; and (D) failing to accept any responsibility and/or negligence on your shop's part. After the lie of the car coming in "defective" was proven to be inaccurate, I was told that the parts were already bad and needed to be replaced many miles ago. Well that leads me back to points A-C, and D since the "mechanic" failed to turn off the hydraulic because the car has AIR SUSPENSION (that you didn't even think to check and/or follow proper protocol; in which your actions contributed to (D). Update: Now here is it a month later and my brakes are still squeaking..... read more

I just moved to the area and needed to have an oil change, fluids checked, tire rotation, etc. Turned out that there was a special being offered at this Mr. Tire location at a very good value. Although they were booked for service that day, they offered me an appointment the very next day. I couldn't make that but did schedule an appointment for mid-week, which turned out to be a very good experience. The actual service took longer than I was accustomed to waiting for this with an appointment. But the extra time was surely worth the extra value and good service experience. Being near other shopping and places to eat also, was a plus. I was able to use the time well and walk to do some errands. I am very glad that I checked with Mr. Tire location to inquire about their services. In addition to receiving an important service, both Service Managers--Seth and Scott--were very helpful, friendly and professional. I do plan to get my vehicle serviced at this Mr. Tire Service Center again. read more

Following my purchase of four Michelin tires for my wife's Honda Accord, I checked the lug nuts. They were torqued to between 140-150 ft.lbs. There was no way they could have been undone by hand if a tire change on the road became necessary. I had to use a steel pipe to extend my tire iron in order to gain enough leverage to break the nuts loose. In the above process, a wheel lock key sheared off and I was forced to spend considerable time in an effort to purchase a replacement or other means to remove the lock nuts. I have two witnesses as to how tight the nuts were. I spoke to the store manager about this problem and was told that I was mistaken. He claimed that they "only" torque the nuts to 110 ft.lbs. Perhaps he should check any number of sites on the internet which recommend that wheels for Hondas are to be torqued @ 80 ft.lbs. He said there was nothing he could do to help me deal with the problem caused by the broken wheel lock key and the wheels that I could not remove in case a change was necessary. I asked how they removed locked wheels when customers come in without a key. He admitted they had a tool but told me it was expensive to use and that I would have to pay for the removal. I left the store quite dissatisfied with only the offer to pay for a new key; should I find one. Fortunately I was able to locate the key code after wasting an afternoon. I have not sought reimbursement because I want nothing further to do with this place. Stay away! Stay far away! read more

I wish I had read the previous review before going. It wasn't the first time I've been there but this was the worst experience in getting tires. We took our car and was told it would be ready in 1 hour. That was the first mistake. They called us at my husband's number instead of the one we gave to tell us it may not be ready until the next day. The next day at 11 a.m. we were told the car was still not ready and it may not be ready until later that evening. When my husband told them that was not convenient for us, the guy had an attitude. I won't say his name here but he was rude. When we called the corporate office, that was worse. We were told we would receive a call back. Even the corporate office FAILED to provide adequate customer service. They did not call back and did not try to resolve the issue. We will never go back to Mr. Tire again, regardless of where it is located. We finally got our car back after WE called back to get it. Ridiculous! read more

The horrible reviews are real, ya'll. I know the online prices look good (but once all of the add-ons and product switches due to the fact that that the tires you requested weren't available, it goes up.) My $399 price that got me interested and in the door went up to $515. I needed new tires, so I agreed. I dropped my car off at 1:30pm and told them I would pick it up after work. I returned at 7:40pm this evening and not only was my car not ready, they hadn't even started. They said my car had wheel locks that they couldn't bypass. Disappointing since the two other times I have needed replacement tires, the shop (not Mr. Tire) had zero trouble getting the new tire on. This problem would have been great to know earlier in the day so I could have picked up my car and took it to a shop that would actually do the work requested. A customer should not arrive to the shop more than 6 hours after drop off expecting to drive off and find the service is still incomplete. Avoid this shop. read more

I made an online oil change w/ tire rotation appointment for Thursday at 3:00 PM two days previous and it was approved. I got to the shop 25 minutes early and was told that they were having problems and my 3:00 PM appointment wouldn't be possible until 4:30. I explained I had taken off work early and the tech said sorry but to reschedule which I did for Monday at 3:00 PM. I had given my phone #, I would have appreciated a phone call to say appointments were running late so I could have stayed at work and rescheduled for a different day. I noticed I had a nail in my tire and called ahead of time to see if they did this kind of repair. They told me absolutely and to just show up. When I showed up and started the paperwork I noticed the older gentleman from the back was upset the young lady at the front desk had taken on another customer " myself " and voiced his frustration to her. She told me it could be a 4 hour wait and since I was stuck and didn't want to take a chance with driving with a nail in the tire I said I would wait. The older gentlemen with spiky hair then walked outside, walked around my truck one time and then came back inside and handed my keys to the girl at the front desk and then walked in the back. She called me to the front desk and then told me that my repair was in a non repairable place and that since it was a all wheel drive vehicle I would need 4 brand new tires put on my vehicle... ??? She said they had no tires for my vehicle in stock but could order them. I left MR TIRE in Dunkirk And I contacted another company and not only did they do the repair in no time at all, I mentioned that I was told I needed all brand new tires and asked how much life I had left on my current tires? The technician walked around and checked all my tires looking at me confused and then explained to me that the tires on my vehicle are a low profile tire and they were NO where close to needing to be replaced! He then told me whenever I thought I needed new tires to just contact him and they would let me know when I was getting close. Steer clear of MR TIRE in DUNKIRK, MD . I don't know if it's just a lack of experience or they look to try and take advantage of people. But It's a shame that a company would use such underhanded tactics to try and drain people of their money! A lot of money at that! I can only imagine the people that show up here and get played just because they don't have enough knowledge to reach out to another company. The amount of money I saved just because I reached out to another company " Maryland Tire & Wheel " was a absolute blessing and they are mobile. Never had good experience with Mr Tire at other locations. I moved to Dunkirk last year. This one is almost at my door step(about one mile away if measuring from air). I decided to give them a try to change the oil for my Volvo C70 convertible. I made an appointment on line and entered my car's year. model etc information, to get my oil changed with a coupon of $19.99. When I got there, they were asking $29.99 because my car takes more engine oil then regular cars. I left without doing the change. I had similar experience with Another Mr Tire at Annapolis. They told me after doing the oil change. I had to pay $10 more for less than one quart of "EXTRA" oil. And they did not rotate the tires; they did not inflate the tires; they did not check the brakes; they did not top the fluids; as they promised on the coupon. If there is 0 star choice, I would have chosen 0. I will settle with 1 star, for the sake that at least this one told me the extra charge before hand. Think about it before you decide to go Mr.Tire. They earned 2 stars because the work they've done has been fine. They lost the other 3 because they're incredibly slow (examples: 3 hours to fix a leak they estimated needing 20 minutes, taking an entire day to replace 4 tires when I had an appointment first thing in the morning) and always find pricey work they need to do on my car. I also question their attention to detail - no matter how many times I tell them they have my address wrong, they never get around to fixing it. At this point I don't care if they have better prices than their competitors; I'm not giving them my business any more. read more

Tires rotated not so much, I mark my tires with a pencil to see if they actually did the work. Lied to my face and charged me, thanks for the military discount. This used to be a trustworthy and reasonably priced auto repair shop with decent service. That is no longer the case. Their prices spiked for no good reason in the last year and I'm not sure they actually replaced the parts I paid for given I was back in a year with the same problem. I realized my invoice showed someone else's VIN number and and license plate. They had no remorse and no good explanation. I'm worried I paid for repairs on someone else's car!!!!! BEWARE!!! I was so impressed with the customer service here. After having a few oil changes, I did notice on my receipts that they were using SW20 when my engine clearly states SW30. When i asked Phil at the counter about it he stated in the computer it said 30 and after our conversation and having left the shop again the receipt has that SW20 was used AGAIN!!! I also had them perform a diagnosis of check engine soon light. I cannot believe that this place would over charge so much for parts that i clearly found online at 3times less then there asking price. Need less to say i did not return to them for the services recommended. I did get my work done at a place where the price difference was about $550. Unbelievable!!!! I do understand that ever business has to make a profit, but come on!!! Do your research before allowing not just this place but any repair shop to began there work. read more

UPDATE: A few days after my post, I contacted the Dunkirk Mr. Tire and was argue with and told that I received what I paid for, a quality alignment, even after I drove for a month with an alignment that was so far off it was not safe. Note, this is not the first time employees at this shop argued with me. Eventually I was given two options, a refund or a discount on tires. I obviously took the refund, and will never return to the Dunkirk Mr. Tire. Rather I will give my business to other local shops, or the Salisbury Mr. Tire, where they are friendly and provide quality work. read more

I took four new tires and rims to have them mounted and balanced. When I picked up the tires, two of the weights fell off when rolling them out to load on my truck. They rebalanced all four tires while I waited for another hour. However, that evening after I put the wheels on my SUV and drove three miles the vehicle started shaking very bad. I drove into a gas station repair shop for fear that something was wrong. They checked and found that the wheel weights came off all four wheels. The mechanic showed me where the surface of the rims were not cleaned very well causing the stick-on weight to come loose. The gas station rebalanced the wheels and I have not had a problem since then. read more

Third time is enough. Beware of the Dunkirk store. The extra mileage to the Annapolis/Prince Frederick store or ANYWHERE else is worth the money and hassle. Three times I came into the store with an online "Out the door" quote and three times I had to get into a full blown argument to get their salesperson to actually honor it. The third time, the associate accuses me of calling him a liar when I told him that I going to verify that they NEED to replace the TPS sensor seals when they change the tire which is what he was telling me. They haven't even checked to see if they are in need of replacement (cars still in the parking lot!) For four tires that's a ~$50 EXTRA charge beyond the "Out the door" price. Mind you the quote is already based on your vehicles make, model, and year so claiming its something specific that needs to be done every time to your vehicles tires are changed is either an out right lie or a lie by omission on your quote. Anyway, the associate tells me I have to buy the seals. I refuse and leave. I contact customer service for Mr Tire and after a few "intermediary" conversations with the Customer service rep and the salesman at the Dunkirk Branch I'm informed that the seal DON"T "need" to be replace and I can opt out of that service. Yea, I'm going to go to the guy that just got caught lying to me to get my vehicle serviced? I don't think so... Oh, and good luck getting them to honor the $9.99 oil changes coupon...you got a better chance at getting the online quote honored.... 2/5 stars on Yelp is giving them more credit than they deserve. read more

Terrible issues and fraud from this location. I have taken two of my vehicles to have a complete brake assembly and tire repair done within the last year. Not only have the brakes been poorly replaced, (never repacked or lubed, physically inspected by myself and one other mechanic) but faulty parts where used that had to be replaced way under when they where supposed to last. In both instances no effort during the brake inspections where made to inspect the brake hoses and the rear ball joints, that soon after the repair went bad, (suspiciously). One vehicle I never felt was properly braked, went back three times to fix, $600 more in labor and parts and nothing, gave up. Both vehicles I then took to the local Ford dealership who pointed out all the discrepancies and did a final fix over the shoddy job Mr. Tire did. Also beware their warranty for parts does not extend to labor, so there shoddy parts and workmanship, you still have to pay to get your car fixed. These people should be avoided at all costs. read more
