I've been here 3 times in the last 3 years. First time, 3 years ago I got 4 new tires from them plus installation and it was a satisfactory experience. Then a year or less later I had damage to a tire, don't remember what specifically, and thought they were covered. Apparently I had declined the road hazard package. I'm not sure what differentiates a repair that is covered with the tire purchase and a road hazard repair but I wasn't mad about that and agreed to have them repair/replace the tire, again I don't remember which. They told me it would be 30 minutes and I sat there for 3 hours. I was very unhappy with that but figured anyone can have a bad day. Now about a week ago I have a loud knocking sound coming from the passenger, front wheel. I make an appointment for them to look at it. I got there 5 minutes before my scheduled time and I sat there for an hour before they even started looking at my vehicle. This was after I explained to the counter guy, in clear and thorough detail, what the symptom was and the relevant information surrounding it. He responded with "I don't know how to write that up, I'm just going to write it's vibrating at speed". After about 45 minutes of them looking at it the counter guy comes over and goes over their report with me. The relevant information being I needed tie-rod ends. They couldn't give me any estimate of what that would cost because they 'didn't have the parts in stock'. So, i said I would look into the typical price for something like that and get back to them. I asked him to ask the mechanic if they would just check the balance of that wheel for me to maybe help with the issue in the short term. He goes back and I hear him tell the mechanic "he wants you to look at the front passenger side of the car" to which the mechanic replies that he already did. So I walk back there to say, no I asked if you would check if that wheel is in balance. The mechanic replied that I needed new tires so there was no point in checking the balance. I know this is a service they offer for a fee so why they would refuse to do this simple task and charge me for it is beyond me. The car was still on the lift. The saga of getting this fixed is still in motion so I'm still not sure if their diagnosis of tie-rod ends was even correct. I'm tempted to one star this review based on this visit, but I think looking at all 3 visits 2 is fair. read more

Came in today and Armah was able to accommodate my situation and instead of turning me away...made a quick call and got the information needed to complete the service. I would give them a zero but that is not applicable. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks and still don't have my refund. Curtis the manger told me two weeks. If you say two weeks then make it happen. I have called them twice about this has anybody called me back. No! They have no problem taking your money and over changing you for stuff you don't need. Very positive experience with Mr. Tire at the Frederick MD Buckeystown location. Curtis Ray helped my wife and I replace a full set of tires for our Mazda. He was extremely helpful, never tried to upsell us on anything. He thoroughly explained the types of tires and recommendations. We ended up buying a set that was less expensive than what we originally came in for due to his explanation/recommendation. Our appt was later in the evening, close to when they were closing but they were very positive and completed the job on time. Have always had good experiences here until recently. Paid way over normal price to have my brakes replaced. Just had my tires rotated for the first time after that service....stud/lug nut stripped completely and come to find out, the brakes on that same axel were never done. Metal on metal. Obviously, there was trouble getting my tire off and service not completed. Made a claim with customer service. District manager was supposed to contact me. A week later, nothing. Store manager defensive and I refuse to deal directly with him. Have left three messages the past three days with customer service with no call back. This place will be reported....paid for a service which was not completed and now driving around with no brakes. Refuse to pay someone else at this point....their mistake and needs to be fixed. read more

I'm trying very hard to understand why they had me make an appointment for 9am and told me I could wait for my car......when it took them 7.5 hours to fix 1 tire. The most unprofessional team I've dealt with in years. When I told them I planned to wait (which is why I made the appointment) he suggested I either walk to the mall or get an Uber. read more

I went to get a wheel alignment done at Mr. Tire in frederick Maryland of Buckeystown Pike. The store manager, Curtis, informed me that he doesn't accept competitor coupons for maintenance. They only accept competitor coupons for tires. I know for a fact that Mr tire does accept competitor coupons for maintenance as I've used it at other Mr. Tire locations. Needless to say, I went to one of your competitors to get an alignment. read more

I have used this shop roughly 5 times and will not be going back. Here are the three main reasons I will not return to Mr Tire: 1. My wife and I bought a brand new Mazda CX-5 and took it to Mr Tire for its first oil change. The CX-5 has an Allen head for the drain plug. For the second oil change I performed this myself and found that pliers were used to originally remove the drain plug and it was severely mangled and the gasket was damaged. I can only assume that Mr Tire did not have the proper Allen wrench to remove the drain plug and resorted to pliers. I no longer used them for any service work but still considered them for tires. 2. Time to replace the tires on the same CX-5. Price shopped online for tires and found a better deal than Mr Tire but they were convenient to my office and offer price matching + 5%. I made an appointment and inquired about the price match and was told to bring in the quote and they would honor it. I arrived to drop off my vehicle and made arrangements to be picked up. Upon arrival I provided the quote received from Tire Pros and was told the price was too low and they could not honor it. After a little back and forth I said fine and began to leave and would take my vehicle to Tire Pros (should have done this). I casually mentioned I would inform their corporate office of the refusal to honor prices as advertised. At this point I was told they would honor it but needed to verify first. After an hour of calling their corporate office and Tire Pros to confirm they agreed to honor the price but not the additional 5% below. As I was now stuck with the ride to work situation I agreed as well and moved forward. No issues with the tires but customer service made me just go elsewhere for tires. 3. Found a nail in the tire of another vehicle we have, found the tire was flat. Put air in the tire and found a nail in the tire and this was the source of the leak. Mr Tire used to offer free tire repairs (plug) but they would always try to up sell to a inside patch which involves removing the tire from the rim, patching and then a mount and balance upon completion. In this case the nail was in the center of the tread and this is not necessary. I tried Mr Tire again to just have this plugged, I noticed they no longer advertised this for free but was willing to pay the typical $20 to have the tire plugged. I arrived at the shop willing to drop off the tire for repair and was informed that they no longer plug tires, they now only do inside patches which is considerably more expensive due to the amount of time and labor for this. Never heard a tire shop that outright refuses to plug any tires. At this point I have decided to just never use them again. I have not mentioned the attempts at high pressure sales when in for oil changes etc. for services that are questionable. They will take advantage of you if you are not knowledgeable in automotive repair so beware. I am a former ASE certified technician and while no longer in the business I still maintain my vehicles but would use them for convenience. I recommend going elsewhere or at least be on top of your game and prepared for high pressure sales tactics. read more

My girlfriend went in to get new back tires. She told me that they looked bigger than they should. when asked the size, she asked if she should check the door to verify and was told no before the tech proceeded to put the tires on. Sure enough, the tech gave her higher profile tires without telling her. This same person told her that her bolts were rusted and that he would be willing to put new ones on for her if she bought some and came back later. This liar had torqued the bolts so much that they almost looked melted. An accidental mess up is one thing, but the deceitful ways of this tech is enough for us to never even consider this location again. read more

Mr Tire did a great job patching the leak and then finding another before we left with the tire, saving us some sure pain on our long ride the next day. My car was vibrating on I-270 on my trip from Virginia to Illinois, and I pulled off at Frederick. The first shop I saw was Mr. Tire. The manager was super nice, and he told me they would take a look ASAP, no charge. I had new brake pads put on about a month earlier in the rear, there had been noise since the day I had that work done, and then I went back to that shop before this trip to recheck, but they would not do it without a charge, and said there was probably nothing wrong with them. As it turns out, thier mechanic never put a wheel back on properly and it was working itself loose. I had only done around town driving since then, but this day I was on the highway, and then 2 lug nuts came off completely and two bolt shafts broke off. I was close to losing the 3 remaining and the whole wheel. Mr. Tire got me taken care of as fast as possible. They ordered a new hub and 5 lug nuts and got the old one off and the new one on in about 2 hours. I felt like they saved my life, my car, my trip, and made sure the other three wheels' lug nuts were all properly tightened for my trip. I felt safe in thier hands! The mechanic was very thurough, and also made me feel like my car was now squared away. It was. It drove nice and smooth and quiet the rest of my trip which was 4 more states. I wish this shop had done my break pads the previous month. They would have put everything back together correctly! read more

I sent my son in to get a new tire, instead of returning home to place a nice tire on my vehicle, I paid extra for labor and such fees. My son also was told it would take 2 hours to change a tire. I went in to Mr. Tire to purchase tires for my fiancé's vintage Volkswagen. He has custom wheels and wanted some different specs for his tires. Curtis was very knowledgeable and was able to help with what he wanted (this was not a normal request that someone just looking up tires in a computer would have been able to do). They took very good care of his wheels and we got exactly what he wanted. While we were there we got a nail removed from my front tire and had it patched. I have had tires plugged before, which is not as good and it has cost me more. They did the patch in an hour with no appointment for a great price. read more

After getting a recommendation to come to their shop to get an alignment from "Tool In Hand" right down the street. I decided to consider this place to have at least an OK reputation. After getting an alignment and two front tires. I pay and get in the car. The car doesn't start. I was pretty cool about things at first. But after they failed to adequately explain WHY the starter had fail suddenly and without any warning between the time they parked the car after service, and me getting in it. I made it clear I wasn't going to give in to this and they needed to get it fixed. I got a distinct feeling this failure was manufactured and they were engaging in the very ugly practice of "breaking it so they could fix it for me". The car suddenly and miraculously FIXED ITSELF after an hour of them fiddling with it. So I give ONE STAR (zero if I could) for this outfit as I left with the feeling that they found a simple mistake they found, or they outright were going to engage fraud by manufacturing a failed component. Either way, they stole over an hour from my life with their incompetence or shenanigans. Apparently they have a good reputation on google. I'll be sure to make a rating there as well. read more

Had a flat on I-270 today. It was 100 degrees out. We had a little dog with us, and were in the middle of a road trip. Mr. Tire had us in and out in an hour, they let us bring our dog into their waiting room to wait, and were unfailingly nice and courteous not only to us, but the various other folks who came in and out while we were waiting. I should also add that they in no way tried to take advantage of our situation - we were offered a couple of models of replacement tire, at a reasonable price, no up-sell pressure, no BS. If i lived near here, they would have my business for sure. Very happy to place my first review for these guys. read more

I went to them for my last oil change so about 5000 miles ago. At that oil change they didn't rotate my tires like I asked them too, which i could tell because i have 2 different sets of tires with different tread. After rotation the now front right tire was warped and they said " it would go away and flatten out over time". It just got worse over time, car wobbles back n forth, vibrates and leans to the right so bad that it will do a complete right turn without hands on the steering wheel. Well that tire, mr.tire said will be ok over time, now has a giant bubble and tread is torn. Turns out this whole time the belt was broken! It was broken since I went to them. Mr. Tire also said my breaks were ok during multiple point inspection, 15 to 17mm left. NO! It's at a mere 2mm in back and 4mm front, and now the rotators are shot too! They said rotators were in good condition, but now I need new tire, break pads and rotators. I could have gotten into a serious accident due to their reckless endangerment, especially as this was a front tire and such bad breaks.They should have noticed these things! read more

Not surprisingly I went for tires. Pros: I had priced around and the price for the tires I wanted was reasonable. They had the tires in stock while others did not and had them mounted the same day. Cons: While changing the tires, they called and told me my rear brakes were shot, were dangerous to drive on and and needed replaced immediately. The price also seemed high between $400-500 dollars, but to be fair I don't know if this is an average price. When I said that I just wanted the tires and no brake work, they persisted on how how unsafe they were and needed replaced immediately. I did not authorize the brake work. I picked up the car, drove it straight to my mechanic He looked at it the next day and said the brakes had at least another 10,000 miles on it and he wouldn't replace them if it was his car. read more

We had a flat tire on the 270N about 5 miles outside of Frederick. It was a swelteringly hot Sunday and we had 2 small children with us, not ideal! Skip at Mr. Tire was a lifesaver! He had the tire we needed and said it would probably be at least 2 hours, but they would try to get to it asap! He was very helpful and sympathetic to our situation. We were stranded and waiting at the Roy Rogers next door with the kids who were getting impatient. You can imagine how happy we were when we looked over 20 minutes later and saw the car was already up on the hoist! Within an hour we were on our way with a brand new tire, no charge to install! I took my car in to have the left rear tire patched as it kept losing air. I was told I'd have to wait an hour and fifteen minutes. At the very end of that time period, a staff member came out and told me that they would not patch my tire because they'd found that it had two patches already on it (I had taken it elsewhere previously once, to be patched). They had, however, removed two nails they'd found, so the tire could no longer be driven on. He wanted me to buy new tires for them to put on on the spot. What a waste of time, and what unethical behavior, to try to get me to pay for new tires by putting my existing tire in worse condition than when I brought it in and refusing to perform the work originally contracted for!! They should have come out earlier and told me what was going on, and they should have left the nails in if they weren't going to patch it. After I made it clear I wasn't going to be scammed into paying them for new tires, the guy grudgingly agreed to put my spare tire on so I could drive home. To top it off, I found when I got back into my car that they had put the original tire into the back of my vehicle rather than replacing it on the outside of the rear door, where spare tires go on a CRV. The tire was dirty and transferred dirt to the clean items I had been moving in my car. read more

Worst. Place. Ever. I came in to get an oil change for $20 like the sign says, and the snarky front desk person said it was "going to be like an hour" so I decided to make an appointment for the next day per their recommendation. I came in the next day and literally watched six seasons of friends, for I waited there for five hours. I should have just gotten it done the day before when they said it was only going to be an hour! Then, they changed my oil change sticker to say less miles than it should, thinking that I'm just some dumb girl who doesn't know anything about cars and I would randomly one day look at the sticker and say "oh crap I'm 10,000 miles past due, I thought I just got an oil change! Oh well!" Then, ever since the appointment with them I've had to refill my oil weekly because now it leaks out. They probably tampered with it or poked a hole in it something. Last but not least, it was $90 not $20 like the sign says... this place is a scam pay the extra money for good service somewhere else or do it yourself. read more

Worst place I've ever been to for an oil change. Hands down. Arrived at 1:35pm and drove of the lot at 2:59pm. Absolutely ridiculous. Of course when he hands me the bill he says I have literally 7 different things wrong with the car. Which I know is wrong because I literally just had the car through MD state inspection AND all the parts he was listing was why it didn't pass on the first attempt so replaced literally each part they had on their list. The list goes on and on. Bad customer service. Guys we're on the cells when customers were trying to pay. Spare yourself the hassle and never go here. Very very disappointed. I called around looking for a certain set of Goodyear tires because they have a great rebate right now. Everywhere I called including Mr. Tire were out of the tires. Mr. Tire had a deal for but 3 get 1 free on another set of Goodyear tires but they were out of that tire as well. I spoke with the Manager Nick when I called and told him thanks but I'll check somewhere else. He said that he had a Yokohama tire that he could do for the buy 3 get 1 even though he didn't have a deal for thoseand because what I was looking for was out of stock. He also informed me that the tire was actually better then the Goodyear. I let him know I would call him back and said thanks for the info. I have always been leery of the Yokohama's even though I've had them in the past. But those were for a not so good car and just bought the cheapest tires I could. They were not bad but I always believe in "You get what you pay for" I did some research and found that the tires he recommended were actually rated better then the ones I wanted. When I went for my appointment that I decided to schedule he kept his end of the bargain. The cust service was great by him and the other gentleman that was at the counter. I need rear brake pads and rotors but can't afford right now since I just paid a lot for tires. Nick again offered me a deal stating that I can go get an estimate by another shop and he said to bring it to him and he'll guarantee he'll beat it. I was nervous to go to this shop because of an issue we had at the Rt. 40 location but Nick definitely redeemed Mr. Tire so far! I trust him to work on my car. The only negative they have is that they will continue to offer you a product once you've said no a few times. I can't blame them for that though. It's their jobs. Also the blowout warranty for their tires is way overpriced in my book. Its $25 per tire and after spending $570 on tires I feel that's to much to ask for. They offered to drop it down by half but I still declined. I have never had a blowout and hope my luck stays true. I apologize for this being long but I always feel its best to be honest. The four star rating instead of five is due to the negatives I said before and a little on pricing. I declined an alignment because it costs $178 and I can definitely get that elsewhere for a lot less. read more

I was in this area once for new tires. I was in the area again recently. Decided to take my car in for an oil change and fluid check. Nothing major. About an hour after dropping it, the phone call from Mr. Tire came. My brakes needed to be replaced. The rotors too. Oh, and I needed a radiator flush and I needed this and I needed that. I needed $1400 worth of stuff apparently. I took my car elsewhere. All the work was done in a day. The cost? $328. Avoid Mr. Tire at all costs. Plus, if you book online they will call you and change it or make you so confused you're not sure what time to be there. Never again. I have lived and learned. read more

I got great, honest, generous service here. First, I got a flat tire just down the road from this shop and they had me sorted out with two new tires within less than an hour and a half. Then, while I was driving home the same evening, one of those two new tires blew out! I was bummed because I had declined the road hazard warranty. I figured I'd probably just had the bad luck to run over something really sharp with my brand new tire, so without the road hazard coverage I'd likely have to pay for another one. But I brought it back to Mr Tire and asked them to check it out and see if they could tell me what had happened. I wasn't demanding they replace it for free, just asking for an explanation. But they went ahead and replaced the tire essentially free of charge (I paid 80 cents in tax) when they didn't have to. Made my day. read more

I can't understand why anyone would have anything negative to say about this place! It was the Saturday after Black Friday. I had blown out a tire on a pot hole the night before. I stopped by Mr. Tire around 4pm in the pouring rain with a flat tire in my back seat. I was greeted by PJ who right off the bat was so friendly and accommodating. He came out to my car and got the tire out of the back seat for me. He explained to me that his book was full and they were slammed with BF Specials and other obstacles so he needed a few hours - I was fine with this. Then one of his assistants walked in as we were talking and he asked if he would mind swapping the tire for me, to which he agreed. I was out of there in less than 30 minutes!! PJ was so kind, knowledgeable, polite, and helpful. I will bring my cars back here for any tire services from here forward. Thank you SO SO much for getting me back on the road and fast! Don't get your brakes worked on here, or you're putting your family at risk. That's no exaggeration. I've taken my car there 4 times, at first it was just for pads. After they were on, the brakes were grinding. I had the rotors smoothed, but that didn't work so I went back again. The rear brakes weren't pulling their weight, so the front brakes were doing all of the work, which was supposedly causing the problem. They "fixed" that. That didn't work (it doesn't appear that they actually did anything to the rear brakes), and now my car shakes violently when I have to apply the brakes even somewhat hard. And the nasty grinding sound is back. Been there 4 times, and every time they find other things to recommend I have done, but never fix the problem. In fact, it seems to have gotten worse. Now I have no choice but to go somewhere else, even though the brakes I bought there were supposedly "for life". But to be fair, there are some positives. Oil changes are relatively cheap, and I've never had a problem with those. And the employees at the front desk have always been nice and courteous. But I have no clue what's going on in the garage. I have to wonder if they even put my car on the lift. I'd recommend limiting your business with them to tires & oil changes. read more
