My first drink on this New Orleans trip. Based on a recommendation I came to MRB, it's a no frills bar with very friendly servers and a plenty of beer options, if that's your thing. I had to do the tourist thing and get the obligatory Hurricane. It was sweet , sour and had just the right amount kick.

This WAS the best gumbo I have ever eaten! 2nd time in 4 days. The staff here could not be more friendly and welcoming. Thank you MRB!!!!!

MRB is a hidden gem! Best gumbo ever and the staff are so friendly! We will come here every time in NOLA!

Great Bloody Mary and great food as always. We got the Frachos with sirloin, potato salad, and collared greens!

Stopped in here after walking around the French Quarter. Just for a quick bite. We ordered the beef Po'boy with a side of collard greens. Really good. Highly recommend.

I was looking for a place with crawfish and it was amazing with sausage, garlic and brussel sprouts. The service by the staff, especially Bennett was great. I loved the outside patio.

Lively bar with lots of outdoor patio seating in the back. We came on a Friday afternoon and had to wait in a long line to order (CASH ONLY) and another long wait to receive our order. Would say the wait is worth it if you're willing to wait ~40 minutes for your food. Highly recommend the raw and Louisiana style oysters! Pretty good price point and flavor, though oysters are on the smaller side.

TLDR: A lively French Quarter sports bar with great energy, plenty of TVs, solid drinks, and decent chargrilled oysters, though ours could have used a bit more time on the grill. I stopped into MRB Bar for the second time to catch Sunday football and enjoy some chargrilled oysters on the tail end of my New Orleans trip. The bar was buzzing with fans from all over doing the exact same thing, which made for a fun and energetic atmosphere. We grabbed a table in the courtyard out back, which has plenty of TVs showing every game. Inside was completely packed, and if you want a drink you need to head to the bar since the courtyard only handles food orders. We ordered a few local pints from Urban South Brewery along with a dozen chargrilled oysters, MRB style. The oysters were good overall, but I felt they could have used a little more time on the grill since some of the cheese on top was barely melted. Not a deal breaker, just something to note. All in all, MRB is a great French Quarter sports bar that works perfectly for watching games while visiting the city. The vibe is lively, the beer selection is solid, and the courtyard setup makes it easy to settle in for a few hours of football.

Wonderful service! The courtyard in the back is cozy, quiet, and a nice escape from the crowds on the street. The booths are roomy and comfortable. Live music was great and not too loud. Beer selection is excellent. Oysters were good but not the best I've had in New Orleans

Hey Yelpers! Tried out this spot on the recommendation of a bartender at Aunt Tiki in the Quarter. He said the oysters were amazing and he wasn't lying! We tried a dozen raw and a dozen Luciano style (charbroiled with crawfish, garlic butter, and breadcrumbs). The raw ones were excellent (chilled, great slightly briny flavor, with a dab of cocktail sauce, raw horseradish, and fresh lemon). The charbroiled ones were the star of the show though. So great. I could have eaten a dozen of those by myself! We also ordered some drinks from the bar they topped off the meal perfectly. They have a pair of live guitarists performing out in their courtyard who sounded great. All in all, this is a great spot for a drink and/or a meal. I would agree with the bartender and recommend it for sure!!!

We came here to watch the packers game on Sunday. Food wise we didn't get to experience as they don't have much for seating, except in the courtyard area. Prices seemed a bit high even on shareable. But for a place to stop in for a beer or two, while catching a game. Cannot complain. I had a mimosa and husband stuck to beer. We met a few other packer fans which was cool. They did have a pool Table but it was covered up. They have a few TVs inside and some out back to watch games on. You had to go to the bar for service and food is ordered in the back. They did not have much for seating when we got there so we stood or sat near the pool table

The char grilled oysters!! So good!! The collar greens were sweet with a little burn at the end. The gumbo had really good flavor. The fried green tomato sandwich was spectacular, loved that it had mozerella and pesto on Texas toast. The Mac and crawfish balls were alright. Would go here again!

Activity 4: Dinner at MRB Bar & Kitchen 515 St Philip St, New Orleans, LA 70116 After a full day of sightseeing, we were ready to eat dinner and lucky for us, MRB Bar & Kitchen was one of the restaurants included in our Go City Pass. Here's how the the city pass works: * The pass gets you one of four meal options, each valued at $19. * When you walk in, it feels like a divey neighborhood bar. Keep walking all the way to the back for the food counter. * They'll scan your pass, and you can choose to sit indoors or in the backyard patio (where they sometimes have live music too). Hubby ordered the River Bottom Burger Combo, and I went all in on the Chicken Fried Alligator Sandwich Combo. Surprisingly? Fried gator tastes a lot like fried chicken, crunchy and totally worth the try. You can also order beers/drinks at the bar. We both agreed that getting a full meal covered by the pass? Major win.

Came here after a walking tour and decided to stop by for food and drinks. Ambience is pretty divey. Downside is that I had to walk to the back if I wanted to place an order on food. Whatevs! The burger and fries were pretty good. I also enjoyed the mashed potatoes. The collard greens were a little disappointing. Extremely salty. If you're looking for exceptional service, look elsewhere. If you're okay with mediocre service but a good time with cheap good eats & drinks, this is the place to be.

Avoid the grumpy older lady behind the counter (Jennifer E). She seems to have a chip on her shoulder. Green drink tastes like medicine.

My daughter is a huge fan of chicken wings--like, she wants to eat them every day --so she was beyond excited when we walked in. We were seated immediately and ordered drinks--me, a much-needed beer, and my daughter, a soda. For food, we went with the lemon pepper wings, nachos, and onion rings. Let me tell you... these wings were . Some of the best I've ever had! Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside . I honestly wish we had a place like this back home in Cali. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and super helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to next time! Highly recommend for wing lovers.

When we walked in the hostess hardly acknowledged us. I asked if we could sit at the bar and she said yes so we walked over. The bar was full so we went back and asked if we could do a table instead. She laughed in our face and looked at us like we were crazy or inconveniencing her. And she was lounging on the bench on her phone, not even behind the counter to greet guests. There were tons of empty tables that hadn't even been cleaned off yet so we just sat at the cleanest one that at least didn't have dishes on it. It took FOREVER for a waitress to even come to us and take our order. After we placed our orders I think our waitress sensed that we were not having a good time so she apologized for the wait and was very kind and pleasant compared to the hostess. I wanted to try the pepper jack boudin egg-rolls. My boyfriend got the fried local shrimp. I did not like the boudin egg-roll. It was fried very hard and I wasn't the biggest fan of the boudin sausage but I wanted to try it because I never had it. You win some you some. I just ended up eating my boyfriend's shrimp because it had taken so long to get our food that the kitchen was basically getting ready to close so I didn't order anything else. Soooo yea. Not my go to choice for a bar. They did have these cool movie theatre style lounge chair in front of the big screen though so that was cool.

This is an old, full of history building and business. And is very dive bar feeling- until you walk into the back bar- which is old saloon vibes but dead quiet and empty. But the chairs score a million stars for comfort. Absinthe has this feeling behind it- not cold beer and well drinks for cheap let's see how drunk we can get and party... it's an experience. And that experience is lost. Which is really disappointing. I imagined something more than we got. The back bar doesn't serve all the drinks and mainly does the traditional absinthe experience- great- but there's nothing that says that and there's tables and chairs but no one to educate you or offer suggestions. There's the back bartender. It's all very confusing. The back area would be sick with a piano player or acoustic guitar player or even a small jazz band and someone to invite you to experience "absinthe" and more so, traditionally. If you're spending $60+ make it worth it. Inviting. Educating. Alluring. An experience. This wasn't the experience I thought we might get at such a unique, historic spot.

Great experience…read more We visited Tableau for the first time. We sat at the bar and had a a drink ahead of our 5:45 pm dinner reservation. Bartender Derek took care of us. My wife had a canned Mockly mocktail and I had a Woodford Old Fashioned. She enjoyed her mocktail and my Old Fashioned was decent. We were seated near the kitchen. It was really cold in this area. Thankfully, we both brought light jackets with us. The head waiter (young man in a suit) had the aircon adjusted and it did get better. Newell was our server. What a peach. She said she's been at Tableau since they opened in 2013. She took good care of us. My wife ordered the Chicken Tableau dinner. I ordered the Maison Salad and the French Onion Soup. My wife enjoyed her meal. I sampled the crispy chicken thigh portion of her meal and it was quite tasty. My salad was smallish and looked pretty wimpy but the dressing was real nice and I liked the nuts on the salad. The standout for me, by far was the French Onion Soup. It was the second best I've ever had. The onions were well caramelized, the broth was deep with flavor and the cheese great. The portion was quite large as well. Quite a value in my opinion and honestly, paired with the salad was plenty of food for me. A loaf of soft bread with whipped butter was served at the beginning. Miss Jewell did a good job of serving and checking in on us. I will definitely be back to Tableau on our next visit to NOLA.

The dish had that buttery, garlicky sauce and creamy grits, but overall it didn't feel very memorable. For dessert, the chocolate torte was way too sweet for me. It was dense and rich, but leaned heavily on the sugary side and didn't have much balance. Overall, a great ambiance and solid service, but the food didn't quite live up to expectations for me.
