Hey Yelp Friends! This spot is a must visit. There is a patio out back I recommend. The seating has a stage and you can order food and drinks and enjoy the live entertainment. It's a nice courtyard. TLDR: A lively French Quarter sports bar with great energy, plenty of TVs, solid drinks, and decent chargrilled oysters, though ours could have used a bit more time on the grill. I stopped into MRB Bar for the second time to catch Sunday football and enjoy some chargrilled oysters on the tail end of my New Orleans trip. The bar was buzzing with fans from all over doing the exact same thing, which made for a fun and energetic atmosphere. We grabbed a table in the courtyard out back, which has plenty of TVs showing every game. Inside was completely packed, and if you want a drink you need to head to the bar since the courtyard only handles food orders. We ordered a few local pints from Urban South Brewery along with a dozen chargrilled oysters, MRB style. The oysters were good overall, but I felt they could have used a little more time on the grill since some of the cheese on top was barely melted. Not a deal breaker, just something to note. All in all, MRB is a great French Quarter sports bar that works perfectly for watching games while visiting the city. One of the best catfish poboys I've ever had. Was looking for some food with a big group in town from Mobile AL for the Easter parade, and we found the perfect table for 10 on the outside patio. Hey Yelpers! Tried out this spot on the recommendation of a bartender at Aunt Tiki in the Quarter. He said the oysters were amazing and he wasn't lying! We tried a dozen raw and a dozen Luciano style (charbroiled with crawfish, garlic butter, and breadcrumbs). The raw ones were excellent (chilled, great slightly briny flavor, with a dab of cocktail sauce, raw horseradish, and fresh lemon). The charbroiled ones were the star of the show though. So great. I could have eaten a dozen of those by myself! We also ordered some drinks from the bar they topped off the meal perfectly. They have a pair of live guitarists performing out in their courtyard who sounded great. All in all, this is a great spot for a drink and/or a meal. We came here to watch the packers game on Sunday. Food wise we didn't get to experience as they don't have much for seating, except in the courtyard area. Prices seemed a bit high even on shareable. But for a place to stop in for a beer or two, while catching a game. Cannot complain. I had a mimosa and husband stuck to beer. We met a few other packer fans which was cool. They did have a pool Table but it was covered up. They have a few TVs inside and some out back to watch games on. You had to go to the bar for service and food is ordered in the back. We waited, and after about five minutes of being completely ignored as bartender after bartender walked past us refusing to make eye contact, we opted to go somewhere else. Recommended by a tour guide, telling us, "they have the best spicy gumbo in the city!" So, we heeded that recommendation and party of four ended up here. We're newbies, right? So we didn't know how things were done here. We sat at an open booth and breezed through the menu. Someone mentioned that we may have to put in our orders from the shack at the back, so while Big Bro was getting drink orders at the bar, I headed to the back. But there was a sign saying orders should be put in at the bar. Headed back to the bar and bartender/server was apologetic about the confusion. I started off with an order of oysters, but was told, "Only available after 4pm." (We were a little over an hour away.) No biggie, we were here for the gumbo anyway, as well as a few snacks to share. CHICKEN AND SAUSAGE GUMBO: Sooo.... Big Bro and Hubbers are spice/heat fiends, right? They were not impressed with this. It wasn't even close, they say, although the flavor was pretty good. They're not used to gumbo with potato salad, and they welcome the change. I can't really handle heat, but they told me I can do this. Had a taste and they were right: barely spicy. The potato salad might have tamed whatever heat it had, too. COLLARD GREENS: If you want something spicy, this is it. We were all surprised by it since I don't think I've had spicy collard greens before. The bite I had was delicious, but it was way too spicy for me. The rest of my party liked it, though. It almost made up for the lack of heat on the gumbo. CAJUN SPICE PORK RINDS: One thing I want to say about this starter is GET IT! It was impressive enough to have many other tables put in their own orders when it was delivered to our table. It was light and crispy and not greasy at all. Seasoning was perfect. It did dry my mouth a bit, but nothing a brew couldn't fix. If only they had some kind of vinegar dip with it, might do it better. (But that's just a personal preference!) CHICKEN FRIED ALLIGATOR SANDWICH (with a side of pork rinds): Yeah, we liked the pork rinds so much, we got it as a side with the sammich. We split it into 4 bites to give everyone a chance to taste. They were generous with the amount of gator. The sauce and the coleslaw added to taste and texture. The brioche bun was soft and fluffy, but held on to the goodies in between. Delish! FOOD: 4. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 4. More than fair especially for its location. PARKING: Street only. If you're lucky enough. OVERALL: 4. It was nearing 4pm but the time we were done, but we were too full at that point for oysters. We also on a schedule, so we didn't stay longer than we had to. Good first run! If there's anything to get here (other than drinks, of course) are the pork rinds. It will pair well with anything you drink! read more

Meh experience, but really nice oysters. We went here because we had a meal included in the Go City pass. It was kinda difficult to figure out what the four meal options where prior to going, so were going in with a little uncertainty. For late night orders (and possibly all orders?) people go to the back kitchen to place them. It took us a second to figure that out and when we got back there, our experience ordering could have been better. I got the feeling that the staff was annoyed by the Go City pass people. My guess is that they get that a lot and that a heavy tourist flow might not be their favorite? I'm a pescatarian and have been wanting to try oysters. When I mentioned that I don't eat meat and asked if there was any way to swap out the gumbo with something else, I got a no. Also, there wasn't really any attempt to help me figure out how to modify my ordering. I was feeling awkward and just went with the meal that included the oysters, even though I wasn't going to be able to eat half of it. We were given a buzzer and went inside. The staff actually brought us our meals instead of buzzing us, which was really nice of them! The oysters were amazing and absolutely made this a worthwhile stop. I also tried the crawfish mac and cheese balls off someone else's plate. They weren't too strong with the crawfish and they were the perfect carby snack after a night of drinking. Unfortunately, the collard greens were too salty and acidic for me to have too much of them. If you're going here, get the oysters! It's also worth noting that you do need to get food at the kitchen and drinks at the bar (at least for late night). So, just be ready for two transactions. read more

My partner's Cousin lives in Nola so we came to meet him and his friends on SuperBowl Sunday. If I am to be honest, I did not have high expectations. I am happy to share that I was completely wrong. MRB turned into a Chiefs bar so we sat in the back in the farthest courtyard lol. We ordered quite a bit of food to share, the chicken sandwich, collard greens, gumbo/jumbilaya (idk, I didn't eat it), crawfish macaroni & cheese), and a fried green tomato. I LIVED for the fried green tomato. We ordered at the back. You have to order your drinks out front at the bar. We had fun chatting with the Chiefs fans and watching the employees shuck oysters while we waited for our food. I thoroughly enjoyed every item we ordered. Dare I say this was one of my favorite meals of this visit. So again, pleasantly surprised and can't wait to come back. read more

Drinks were tasty - the strawberry cucumber one was so refreshing, it sneaks up on you! They have folks out back who do nothing but shuck oysters, and there's a reason for that.
