Can't wait to never visit this place again. The place is managed by a bunch of foul-mouthed children. We stopped in fresh off the road, as it was convenient to walk from our hotel. Nobody to greet us and nobody even in the seats. Three people sitting at the bar (all workers) told us to sit wherever. A server came over (she was nice,) and we ordered a water and a beer for my husband while we looked at the menu. No sooner did she leave our table that a fight broke out in presumably the kitchen between two workers, an older male and a younger female. Both shouting in heated and profane language, hurling insults at each other while the female was presumed to kick the male out of the restaurant. Yelling at each other THROUGHOUT THE RESTAURANT as he was walking out. No apologies to us for making such an obnoxious scene, the female walked back to the bar area, back biting her coworker calling him a b***h repeatedly. We ordered a catfish platter and a half muffuletta. We got a catfish po boy sandwich and a muffuletta. The menu said they were rated best new muffuletta place by muffuletta.com, but all I tasted was salt. Their bread was decent. The server comped my husband's second beer for messing up his order, which was kind but unnecessary. I ordered two dozen oysters through DoorDash, but only one dozen was delivered. To make matters worse, the oysters were burnt to a crisp and tasted awful. I was starving, so I tried one, but they were completely inedible. The packaging was also unacceptable. The containers had melted together, likely because the hot food was packaged improperly, making the order difficult to handle. There was only one sealed bag, and there wasn't room inside it for another dozen oysters. Based on the packaging we received, it appears the order left the restaurant incomplete, so this was not an issue caused by the Dasher. When we called the restaurant, Daniel told us to contact DoorDash to cancel the order, even though the Dasher wasn't responsible for the mistake. Daniel refused to help resolve the issue, saying he was too busy. He also insisted that two dozen oysters had been sent, despite the fact that we only received one dozen. Daniel then suggested that we would have to come into the restaurant to return the order. We're not going to pay for a Lyft just to return food that was incorrectly prepared, improperly packaged, and only partially fulfilled. The dinner is close to downtown, so a great opportunity to have breakfast or lunch (or post-conference happy hour!!) when you or others are visiting! I had the vegetarian omelette and it was very good! They allowed me to make modifications to my omelette (I'm always a bit complicated) and i appreciate that. That's exactly what my husband ordered, I ordered their breakfast grits bowl, and my sons ordered avocado toast. My grits bowl was everything I needed it to be. Being from CA you won't find grits on a breakfast menu too often. So I was pleasantly surprised! We came for dinner on another night because we just didn't want to venture out. Besides we had already been here, and we were treated so well by the server, food was delicious and we didn't need to wait for a booth. For dinner my husband ordered their Spanish style carne asada, I ordered the shrimp and chicken alfredo, one son ordered fajitas and the other a chicken salad because we split our meals between the two of us. It had already taken a significant amount of time to get our food and we did not have time to request them to remake it. This is a cute little restaurant/cafe/bar downtown. It's new and I hope it does well because the food is really fantastic here! They have a huge menu and it seems that everything is very reasonably priced! I tried their shrimp scampi ($15) and it was perfect. White wine sauce, tons of seafood flavor, generous portions for being priced so well too. Delicious, great quality, and you go home full. What's not to love? I also got to try their boiled crawfish, and OMG it was SO good!! Salty and juicy, it was just how I like 'em! Plenty of juice to suck from the heads and super satisfying. Ok... Stumbled on this place for dinner a year ago. We ordered oysters and drinks from a nearby restaurant and paid an arm and a leg. We left without ordering dinner.... f* that. Our experience here was great! And to think, we almost walked on by. It's off the beaten path so on a Monday night, not a lot of folks there. But we went in. Jocelyn met us with a smile and seated us. Ok, the food we had was a dozen chargrilled oysters. Man, they were outstanding!! Great flavor and you'll want to sop (that means let the bread soak it up) the juices in the shells. They are that good. I also had the gumbo. Very good with excellent flavor. Didn't know where to go to eat but we wanted to stay close so we found this spot right near our hotel. My son and husband I think just got a burger which they liked but the super highlight for them was the hot sauce! lol it was actually very good. I got the muffaletta sandwich and I almost didn't just because I don't like green olives and everything about It sounded so weird. But so many people said to try it so I gave it to go So glad I did!! I don't know why, but the combination just works. Definitely try it. I got the half and it was plenty for me. One thing that's nice about New Orleans is that most of the good locations for us tourists are centrally located around Canal street and the French Quarter making everything a simple walk to and from location to location. When visiting we like to try various local establishments, from classy to hole in the wall as we like to experience the various flavors that are offered even from similar dishes, as one dish can taste one way at location one yet taste totally different at location two. This was one of those experiences, it was a 6 block walk from where we were and the flavors were different but pleasant. The Shrimp Po Boy was our first try at a this sandwich and it was good. Shrimp is lightly seasoned and tasted good, the veggies in the bread made it taste very light and not heavy like cold cut sandwiches can tend to do, at least for me. The fries were good and well salted. This I would eat again. The Red Beans and Rice was the difference in taste. This one was spicier than others we had tried. Other locations tends to seems to focus on the flavor of the beans and sausage, this one had the bean flavor with a bit of zesty zip on the tongue. Yet it wasn't a build up spiciness like you'd get with jalapeños or cayenne peppers, it was a light simple zest that maintained a specific level and never got hotter as it builds on the surface of the tongue. First few bits it was questionable if it would get hotter, tho it never did and really turned out to be a nice meal. The sausage comes pre cut, so no hacking into casted meats with a spoon. We added the Boudin Balls as well, which sadly were extremely small and seemed to have some cheese in it. Others we have had were large and worth the cost and had zero cheese to influence the many texture and flavors of the boudin. It tasted ok, but wasn't something I was crazy about. Location is like 95% of the other locations in the tightly packed limited parking downtown, French Quarter, and French market .... Well, like most of New Orleans. We did find street parking for free, tho there are parking areas in this area that charge some pretty steep fees to stay at by the hour. The store is narrow and long, bathrooms all the way in the back. There is a glassed in court yard halfway back, this appears to be a very old converted home of some sort based on the layout, they do have room to grow if desired. Staff was limited as was the crowd, but the waitress was very kind and nice. Very clean place. Would definitely go again. read more

This a short 10 minute walk from our French Quarter location. We decided to try based on Yelp recommendations. They had 40.00 all you can eat crawfish with purchase of any beverage. Saw several go by...looked and smelled delicious but not my husband's thing so had to pass. I got a half muffuletta which was loaded with olive spread. Service was outstanding. The ladies at the bar were exceptional! For takeout, I ordered the chargrilled oysters and seafood platter. The chargrilled oysters were a good size and well-seasoned. The seafood platter was coated with panko breadcrumbs and deep-fried to perfection. Compared to other restaurants, Chapin's shrimp were remarkably larger in size. We also received a generous portion of fried oysters. The seafood platter would be enough for two people. The only thing I would suggest to the restaurant is to make sure you give us dipping sauce. I received utensils but no dipping sauce. The take out was going directly home so it was not a problem for us but might be for someone who's ordering during their lunch break or a tourist ordering to go back to their hotel. Do not underestimate this place. I came in and it was surprisingly empty. Frankly, the decor is a little eclectic and doesn't read as the truly phenomenal restaurant that it is. Every day!) oysters came with the best garlic bread I think I've ever had in my life? I was locked in. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms and they came out huge, hearty, hot, and delicious. Super meaty and the chorizo was full of flavor. Someone in my group got the build your own nachos which is perfect for vegetarians and fun to pick the pieces. She was pleasantly surprised at how good the salsas were! Now we reach the magnum opus of this meal: the seafood boil. By GOD I've never had a boil that good. It came with brown sugar butter and I will happily die of clogged arteries if only that could be added to every meal I eat from here on out. It was packed to the gills with crawfish, muscles, and crab. I was actually almost disappointed at how little corn and potatoes there was; that's how much value the seafood is. The spice is a slow creeping heat with such a burst of flavor that soaks right into all the seafood. I will absolutely be coming here again and telling people about it. Either that or she just really doesn't talk very much. No matter, we ordered. Two people in our party ordered quesadillas. After having left the restaurant, they kept raving about it. So, I guess the quesadillas were really good. I am a creature of habit and ordered the sausage. Breakfast burrito. It wasn't bad but the potatoes were not what I was expecting. These were like giant breakfast fries that were just put into the burrito. I don't know. I guess it just wasn't what I was expecting. Happy hour prices were great. My little one had a grilled cheese with a side of fries. She wasn't too fond of the fries either. I don't know if they lack seasoning or if they just weren't that good. But then again, my kiddo seems to be somewhat of a snob. She's pretty picky. I feel like the pictures of my food give them a lot more credit. I mean, nothing really was wrong. But like I said, I was just very underwhelmed. For it being a Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant, I was really shocked to find that they did not have Horchata. I was literally shocked. We are in New Orleans for the weekend and wanted to grab a quick brunch that had cocktails available. We stumbled upon this little resturaunt off of our street and though we would give it a shot. We were the only ones in there when we arrived, and our server politely told us to sit anywhere and brought us drinks and menus. I ordered a frozen margarita hurricane and the waitress warned me it was a little strong and I agree but it tasted amazing! My husbands Irish coffee was also great, but the fireball shot he had afterwards tasted a little funny. The problem was mainly the food. I did the build your own omelet, potatoes, and toast which was also good. However, my husband did the steak and eggs. The steak seemed to have been flash-thawed. It was very chewy, lacked any seasoning, and was well done despite asking for medium rare. Overall, our server was great, the drinks were great despite the one shot, the food was your basic breakfast you would get in a small town, but the steak was a definite no-go. The only other issue was the decor. We weren't really sure what theme was going on.
