Im all about going to the movies to get out of the hot sun like today. I started at the farmers market around the corner. Got back to the theater and immediately found parking right away in front... yes!!! Got there before doors officially opened. They opened shortly after arriving. I went inside and bought a double feature... at just $4.50 you really can't beat the price... oh wait yessss you can on bargain Tuesdays and double Feature Fridays!!! I digress... Id been wanting to come to this theater.. today was the day. Honestly I was expecting it to be dingy and disgusting inside based on some reviews. Ugh people are stupid it is a gorgeous large one screen theater. Now it doesn't have the recliner reserved way in advance seats, ...it has classic theater style seats but they are clean and in good repair! I swear society is so freaking high maintenance. This place is nice. Movie started on time and the screen is in excellent condition! The staff are awesome. Super friendly and patient with my question asking personality! They have ONE screen so each movie shows one maybe two times a day. Easy to make it a double feature. The concession stand has classic fare... and is affordable for theater... huge tub of popcorn for $6 with a free refill. Large drink was $3 with $2.75 refills. They have reasonable deals too, like where you actually save money not just a quarter. Hot dogs were $3.50 I think. Candy was the but i didn't get any. There's a coffee stand inside too. Movies are not BRAND SPANKING NEW RELEASES ... they've probably been out two weeks or more, but again don't go if you're high maintenance and hard to please. I have zero problem with waiting for most movies to be released a week or two... especially at the price! I love this place. So glad it's in my new hometown and I can return... because i will be!!!! read more

Nice attraction in the Gresham area. Tuesday's is much cheaper than the rest of the week but even the regular prices are much better than regal or Century. there is only one theater that wraps around it is humongous I mean it probably could seat 80+ people. there's usually only one movie showing at any given time because there is only one screen. concessions were priced very reasonably not a huge selection of items to purchase but this place is easy enough to sneak in your own snacks if need be. read more

My husband and I haven't been to the movies in soooo long because it's so expensive. Because of the price... we don't even put it in the mix of options when we plan date night. For some reason, a movie sounded good and we found this theater! (We have lived in portland less than a year) It's SO CHEAP and we saw a double feature. The concession had great prices too. It only plays 1 movie at a time but that was fine by us! We saw Ralph breaks the Internet and the Mule. :) something I've never seen before personally, is it had, like a coffee shop in it. Pretty neat. It's also walking distance from downtown Gresham, so if you wanted to have dinner, it's convenient. We will be back! read more

I am not sure how I have not reviewed this, when we are here 3 or 4 times a month! The deal of the week is daily here, kids under 4 free and the rest of us slid in at about 3 bucks! This is a one screen shop, and it really isn't anything impressive, nor is it junky like some of the other 2nd run theaters. Why pick this place over say a 1st run theater? Have kids? Well there you go! My guys like to see every movie applicable to them, and I don't like paying 4x the cost here, and I don't like to be limited to the cheap days, or times. We come here, see movies as they pour in, eagerly waiting for them to leave the 1st run theaters. They replaced a bunch of new seats, and the sound here isn't bad at all, the place has a huge amount of seating so you are never to be cramped. You can stock up on goodies for normal inflated prices or BYOT-reats ;-) The coffee here isn't half bad, and the prices are much less then a 1st run place. We love stopping by for a big bucket of popcorn. Never disappoints. I only wish it were open longer hours for drive-through popcorn. We've been doing this drive through popcorn frequently for over a year, but haven't actually stepped inside to see a movie. We'll make it in eventually. Gem of a discount theater in downtown Gresham. They show 3 box office movies typically after they have left the main theaters. It's only $3-4 per person and popcorn and snacks are slightly less than the other theaters. They only have one screen and the auditorium is huge. I've always had a great experience when we've gone here and I plan to continue to see their movies. read more

"The Hood" has been around since my dad was a kid. He used to tell me stories about his teenage hijinks around the theater (I refuse to use the pretentious British spelling), but that was several owners and remodels ago. If there were such a thing as a Gresham cultural icon, this would be it. The Hood has alway been known for having a cheap double feature. I think the current price for two movies is $4. The speakers are decent. The seat quality is a bit of crapshoot; some are quite good, some not-so-much. They recently added a coffee shop. They used to have a sweet arcade, but I think that might no be there anymore. They used to have a refill on the large popcorn (for the double feature)... not sure if that's still available. I like to think that it's a key part of the "Meth-free Gresham Experience" (perhaps I should make a list). read more

The seats are threadbare, the sound's a little off....and it's exactly what you'd expect and want from a budget second-run theater that lets you watch two movies for only $4. It would be silly to expect a state of the art experience with such prices. Its a great community resource for people with little entertainment funds and a wonderful use for a beautiful old theater that could have otherwise been considered defunct and ready for the wrecking ball. Mt. Hood Theater is definitely older, but it's one of the best deals around. It's a single theater with balcony and floor seating...it's huge. I've been going there since I was a kid, and I still love it today. Although it's older, it's always clean, all of the employees have been great, the snacks are cheap and they have double features for 4 dollars; you really can't beat that. There's also a cafe that was put in a couple of years back. It's a little pricey, but the coffee and Italian sodas are great. read more

A historic relic in the middle of downtown Gresham. A great second run theater with reasonably priced movies. Did I mention the tix are $4 a movie? And they have $2 Tuesdays? The theatre itself could do with a little updating - its a huge auditorium and there seem to often be more seats than people. Removing rows and adding tables - and serving some local craft brews would update its charm without losing the cool retro vibe. Bathroom stalls could use updating and expansion. Two toilets is just not enough! And the wear and tear shows especially starkly in this area. The concessions are reasonably priced and they offer great combo deals if you are hitting up a double feature. THE GOOD Money money money -- tickets are super cheap, making it actually reasonable to come here frequently and with groups of people. Movies here are still fairly recent. If you didn't get a chance to catch a flick while it was in the major cinemas you can usually see it here a few weeks later for a fraction of the price. This theatre is historic and has its fair share of fans throughout generations. THE BAD Parking is... well, there isn't really any. Luckily, downtown Gresham provides free parking a few blocks away. THE UGLY Accessibility for disabled patrons is appalling. It's better just to avoid this theatre if one of your party has mobility issues. The seats. A great old theater with lots of character, and you can't beat the price: $4 for a double feature. Second run films only, of course, but I watch movies so infrequently that it's not like I'm impatient to see the blockbusters. The one issue I have with it is disability access stuff: the slope on the ramp into the theater is pretty horrendous, likewise with the slope down to the main seating area. And the theater's bathrooms aren't accessible, but there is a cafe on the main floor with a restroom you can use while it's open. Though now that I think about it I think that bathroom is super tiny. Had date night at the movies last night and what a great experience! Traveling decades back in time to when the movie theater was family owned and operated when service and customer satisfaction were paramount! Aquaman and Bohemian Rhapsody, what a pair of movies to watch for less than one movie for a single ticket elsewhere! Steff got a Groupon for $9.00 includes two adult admissions and a free medium popcorn. On Fridays you get the double feature. I upgraded my popcorn to the large for an additional $1.00 making it refillable for the second movie, purchased a water and medium pop an additional $3.00, at the intermission I refilled my popcorn, water and purchased a large pop for $3.00. So, we saw both of these movies and had drinks for a grand total $16.00! Unheard of in today's world! The atmosphere is perfect, the building is well kept and the service is top notch! Let me be frank, this theater had a bad reputation for a long time. But after a while and either new owners or just a more active community, they turned this place around ENTIRELY. It used to stink, be dirty, never even half crowded, and they let you take your own food in. They didn't have a concession stand, in terms of concession stands go. But they remodeled, hired more people, added a few businesses in the places next to them; it has really turned into a place I'd want to go after a dinner. I watched this theater transform into a really fantastic place and all of my experiences, even when it was a downright awful place to go, have always been fun. Not sure if they still allow your own food in, but when I was a kid, my family would get whopper meals and eat it while watching a double feature. Before the next movie we'd pop into pizza hut for bread sticks. Lots of great memories here. read more

We love supporting local businesses and for the most part like the Mt. Hood (small, local) Theater but feel it is an accident waiting to happen. When they turn off the lights it is a BLACK CAGE. We were a couple of minutes late because we couldn't find a parking place and when we got inside, we had to wait (and wait) while the "ticket seller" had to serve people purchasing food/treats. Finally she sold us tickets and a man told us to go up the wrong side (left) of the ramp "because it's very steep." He wasn't kidding AND when we got to the top it was BLACK, totally black. We stood for a while, thinking our eyes would find some light. Nothing changed. We began to step down and once again a person sitting in the top row told us there is no step, but rather a ramp, saving us from a fall, for sure. Two people got lights on their cell 'phones and helped us (and other people coming later). WHY they can stay open with this lighting situation is beyond me. We could have been into the movie if the ticket seller hadn't had to serve refreshments, but that's not the point................they NEED floor lighting. We like to support small, locally owned businesses..........they should support our safety. read more

Even though this place is not the Ritz it is great! While movie prices keep going up and up and most of us keep paying. The Hood Theater still maintains a commitment to keeping it cheap and offering double features.
