Just spent Christmas at one of the vacation rentals. We received an email from Mt Hood vacation rentals asking about our experience. I advised them that our house had dead bugs in the dining room lamp and there were cob webs all over. The floors under the furniture were full of dust. Why are we paying $180 for cleaning (we paid $3450 for 4 days)? This seems to be common for all of their properties. They never did respond to me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

Booked a cabin for my Wife's birthday. We have always used Meredith /Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals were great up until there was a problem, and then everything fell apart. We got to the cabin, which was infested with spiders. Called Meredith and they said they would send someone out to fix the issue. The next day, we took off, came back, and some of the spiders were removed. We still counted north of 40+ spiders in easy-to-see areas. Called them up, and we were ghosted for two hours, being told the lead was on the phone, or lunch or busy. So, knowing we weren't going to get a response, my wife and kids decided they didn't want to stay in the house with all the spiders, and not knowing the species, we left hoping for them to be reasonable and refund us the two other days that we were not staying for. We were told that they did what they were supposed to do and would not refund the money. I asked for the contract, and they have ghosted me ever since. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else. They aren't worth the heartburn if something goes wrong. read more

They ruined my vacation. It was so horrible I cannot even get into it. They left me in tears. There was a power outage and even though I explained MY PARENTS WERE 70 YEAR OLD AND USE AN OXYGEN TANK, they refused to refund me for two days until I was a sobbing mess. The house was on a septic tank, so there was also no water and no plumbing once the power went out, and they acted like I should just stay there and be happy about it. I PAID $1800 dollars!? Insane. Horrible customer service, never called me back, lied to me, etc. I had to call 14 times. I will never, ever, EVER use these rentals again. They literally don't care if you die without food, water, or plumbing. That being said, I used my refund to book a cabin on the coast with iVacations and I had the opposite experience. They let me check in early, told me if the power goes out they'd find me another rental- just all around 100 times better. read more

My husband and I stayed at Meredith Lodging's Moondance Cabin from March 26-27. I have given it some time, because I understand that some things take time. However, as we provided consistent communication , and photos of all the issues that arose while we were there, we have still received zero feedback or compensation. During our stay we were unable to use the bathroom, due to sewage flooding both bathrooms and showers. We had to leave the premises to use public toilets, and at one point when we returned there was a plumber inside who we were not informed would be there, and all of our belongings were still in the cabin. Unfortunately we were unable to afford to pay for a hotel, and had already booked the rental, so we decided to stay the night and try to enjoy the hot tub. In the morning when we were packing to leave we went to clean said hot tub only to find it disgusting and covered in a slimy mold. I'm still grossed out that we used it in that condition unknowingly, the lights were all out. We need a refund, we were unable to get anything out of it other than a squeaky mattress, a moldy hot tub, and sewage leaking into all bathrooms and showers. read more

Booked a cabin on the Salmon River for Thanksgiving last year. Cabin had mouse poop in the kitchen drawers where the pots and pans were stored. We had to clean them all very thoroughly to enjoy our Thanksgiving meal. Multiple days, we ran out of water. Many times we had children in the shower with soap, and were left to stand and wait for over half an hour for water to return. Wet, cold children in the winter is not what we pay thousands of dollars for. When we contacted the company, they sent out a repairman who said there were several issues with the water filtration system in place. We ran out of water several times throughout our stay, often not being able to finish our shower. We were very mindful of this, and avoided showering at the same time, or back to back, and still ran into this issue. Mt Hood Vacation Rentals did not respond to our phone calls or emails, and would not issue any sort of credit or refund for our troubles. We will never book with Mt Hood Vacation Rentals again. I drive by their main office on HWY 26 pretty often. One day I think I'll stop in and see who actually works there. read more

My husband and I rented the Riverwood Hideaway Cabin from Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals. Best stay ever, sounds cliche but it's true! We enjoyed the seclusion, river, hot tub and cozy over all feel. We did not want to leave. Recommend Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals to anyone looking for quick, easy and painless reservations, professionals that are kind and helpful and over all best rental company to rent from. For a large group of girls this house was perfect. We had a great time and had plenty of room. The hot tub was so much fun. Plenty of space and it was def cozy. HOWEVER - this place was not clean to even the dirtiest persons standards. Cobwebs all over the lighting. Thick dust all over the furniture. The showers had hair in them...it was just bad. We were all kinda grossed out. The beds were for the most part comfortable. But then again you can take a 15yr old mattress, cover it in mattress covers and comforters, throw on some flannel sheets and thick quilt and it wont take long to snug right in. We struggled a little with figuring out what light switches went with what lights. There are a gazillion light fixtures in the house we rented with 10x the amount of switches and dimmers for them. There are also two heating/cooling systems for the house so one half of the house was freezing cold and the other half was comfortable. We FROZE the first night until one of our girlfriends figured out how to mess w/ the thermostat. Mind you this was in February and the house is surrounded by tall snow covered pines. Cold...very very cold. Over all we had a good time and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. I must warn you there is a LAUNDRY LIST of cleaning rules you have to follow before checking out. I'm guessing this place does not employee a cleaning service and just relies on previous guests to do the majority of the clean up. IDK that we would stay here again. Not unless I read reviews on how things have changed and these rentals are immaculate. For the money you can probably find an Air BnB that is clean. read more

When I booked I was struggling to complete the transaction with issues with my wi-fi. I will admit that I hadn't noticed the "additional charges" that almost doubled the cost. But I quickly saw that the reasonable posted fee of $160/night had suddenly morphed into over $290/night! As soon as I saw this, I immediately called the company and asked for a refund. They declined. What?! I was told I had agreed to the Terms and Conditions, which includes a 30-day cancellation clause. ("Well, you clicked our Terms & Conditions" button said every unsavory business ever...). Impossible to do since this was a last-minute booking just days prior. This is just lousy not-customer focused service. Even Airbnb has a 2-day cancellation period. So what Taj Majal did we get for almost $300/night? An adequate enough house, clean enough, though certainly showing wear, not even what you'd expect from a hotel. "Wooded setting" means a few spindly trees, with a short, dirty path down to a forlorn creek distinguished by a number of weird ropes going across to some equally forlorn piece of land. The back yard contained a rotting picnic table and a long berm of crusty, exposed, decomposing sand/gravel bags. Nothing attractive at all. Not even a place to walk in this "wooded setting". This company is just out to maximize their revenue using a bait & switch by posting a reasonable rate and then larding the final cost with big fees (including a booking fee of close to $65 - how is this justifiable when I did the booking?). Not refunding me directly after I realized this was a problem is unjustifiable, even though yes, I clicked on Terms & Conditions, but that's just sheisty. read more

We rented the Forest View Lodge for a short 2 night stay. We enjoyed the check-in process and the girl who helped me was very pleasant. Our first glance pulling up to the home we were "wowed" by the exterior. And we really liked their code entry system...it worked very well. When we first arrived we unloaded our stuff inside, next to the front door then left for dinner. Once we returned we started putting our things away and getting comfortable. However, as we walked around the house we started to notice the house was filthy dirty. I can provide you with many examples and photos from everything from clumps of hair to food to dirt to glass on the floors, couches, tables, counters, bath tub, showers, sinks, etc. As a matter of fact, upstairs in the master bathroom I got a piece of glass stuck in my foot. After digging the glass out of my foot, I found the broom and swept the bathroom floor. I could not believe how much dirt was on the floor. So, I ended up vacuuming the entire top floor at 8:30pm. Disgusting!! The entire home needed a very deep clean. Speaking of the master bathroom on the top floor...not only had the floors not been cleaned but neither had the shower or the sinks. The sinks had small black hairs all around them. Gross!! The soap dish had 3 new unwrapped bars of soap in it but when you took them out the actual soap dish was full of crusted up old soap remains. Even the towel rack next to the tub is falling off of the wall. The game room literally had popcorn and garbage on the couch cushions, not to mention on the floor. The downstairs bathroom had not been cleaned (the floor or the tub). The downstairs bedroom floors were filthy. The stairs were filthy on your way downstairs and the floor in front of the door to the outside and laundry room needed cleaned. And so on, and so on, and so on. And the kitchen was just as disgusting as the rest of the house. It was absolutely filthy with food and hair all over the floor, counters and table. We couldn't even eat in the kitchen...way too dirty!! The house was so dirty we were unable to use part of the house. I only had so much time to clean the house. Not what I wanted to spend my time doing on vacation. We were there for a short ski vacation....snow skiing during the day and hoping to relax in the evenings!! That did not happen...I cleaned in the evenings so we could use a few of the rooms. I typically don't complain. However, the house was so dirty I felt compelled to write a review. I did bring the issue to the vacation rental folks right away, and they did offer to get a cleaner in the house. However, at that time it was too late. I asked for a refund and they were unwilling to give me what I asked for. They offered me a free one night stay in the same home for future use....I don't think I could ever rent from them again after this!! read more

Very disappointed at the lack of care and work around or really any customer service whatsoever involved with this booking. I paid for a mon - Thursday trip to mt hood to stay at this place. We were very excited as we just had twin girls and this was our first trip. We live in Portland. The morning before we arrived, there was a severe winter storm where hwy 26 was closed, avalanche warning, closure on I84 and power outages all over mt hood. I called to ask about possible changes to the itinerary if we weren't able to get to the house due to the highway literally being closed and if power was out i wouldn't be able to pump and feed the newborns or let alone keep them warm as the place doesn't have a generator. Since Monday - Thursday are usually an easier time to change to a different week due to less bookings i had hoped we could find a different week. The woman i talked to basically said they take no responsibility for the weather and that the house is ours we rented it and can go there when the roads open back up. This is to a mom with newborns and a 2 year old where it's literally their survival is a concern if we were to lose power. And at that point we couldn't even get there. They would not budge. They just took my $2000 for the 4 days we couldn't get there and that was it. Absolutely 0 care or response to help remedy the situation or offer a solution that would benefit both parties. All they cared about was making sure they didn't have to refund due to weather. Horrendous, really sour feeling toward this company. This is just gut wrenching to witness the lack of care or offering to make right a situation. Especially for a mon - thurs booking. Avoid them at all costs. Learn from my mistake in believing this would be wonderful memory for my new little family. read more

We booked through this company months before the holiday Season. It is very difficult to know your exact location of your rental cabin as you don't get location info until check in. We specifically wanted a location in Government Camp and were told that is was where our Cabin was located. When you spend $2500 for a Christmas vacation you expect to get what you paid for. We arrived and were given a cabin with a 1300' elevation instead of the 3000' elevation we requested. We purchased extra snow gear and snow shoes just because of our anticipated elevation. We also called in advance about other amenities which we were told are there. They were not upon arrival. We've asked MGMT to correct or compensate for the deceitful marketing or human error and have not yet received a response. The attitude was poor from MGMT as they was a large amount of laughter in the back office when the receptionist shared our concerns. Rent here at the severe rick of being dissatisfied with no resolution from the MGMT. The owner's Response is pretty much crap. Just trying to cover up for bad business practices. read more

They offer specials and their rentals are way more comfortable then a hotel room at practically the same price but you get a whole house! We recently rented the Forest View Lodge through Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals. It's a lovely cabin, and the staff at Mt. Hood Rentals was friendly, making the arrangements was easy. However, we had several issues with the cabin - I'd just caution others before renting here. It started when we first arrived, with a live bat in the living room. This was something that I'm sure doesn't happen often, it may have come in via a vent opened by a maintenance worker. But it was a bit of an adventurous welcome to the cabin, trapping the bat and removing him. However, as we settled in, we noticed a few other things. There was quite a bit of small debris on the hardwood floors, in most of the rooms. Rugs had obviously not been vacuumed. There were dust bunnies in many corners. Dead bugs on window sills, etc. not major but really hadn't been swept or dusted properly. We called the agency and they were very responsive and a housekeeper arrived shortly to vacuum. And as we further settled in, we found that two of the toilets had not been cleaned. At first we thought it was hard water coloring, but when we tried to clean them they were easily cleaned, but had not been. When we went to bed the first night, there were actually mouse droppings in the bedding of one queen bed! Not a welcome surprise! There were a few smaller issues, such as a broken coffee pot. We didn't realize it, but upon first use it overflowed. We found a piece of it in a drawer but it still did not work properly. Overall this is a nice spot, but for $400+ a night we were disappointed in the cleaning and upkeep. I reported these things to the agency when we left, and they sent an email apology. But if I rented with them I would make sure the house is clean and rodent-free at checkin. read more

We have used Mt. Hood vacation rentals since 2007. The experience was always positive. We especially liked their low nightly rates and MINIMUM fees. What we didn't like was their very high minimum night rental policy that seemed to be constantly changing. We have since decided not to use Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals any longer since the addition of a Guest Service Fee that is "a minimum of 10% of the rental rate". This new fee includes: Reservation processing, Concierge services during office hours Emergency after-hours services Assistance with home electronics, Delivery of firewood, additional towels, etc. Free wifi Complimentary copy / fax services Accidental Vacation Rental Damage Protection Housekeeping. All things you would expect to be included in their management service. The oddest "fee" was the charge for "free wifi". Hum, charging a fee for something that is "free". In addition to this new fee, their nightly rates have gone up. Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals used to be the best deal in town. Now they are just on par with all the others. Shop around. read more

Our family had a fabulous time staying at The Cedar Springs Cabin. Seemingly all new construction and furnishings, it was comfortable, well appointed and tastefully decorated. We skied during the days and enjoyed cooking and eating in and playing games. The location was great, a bit of a drive from Meadows but really worth it. We loved how secluded it was, surrounded by forest. We also had the pleasure of seeing a big deer feeding through the trees while we were sitting in the hot tub. All in all, a perfect little getaway. read more

One of the worst experiences ever. Cabin was nice etc. The woman from the rental company was abusive and swore at my daughter. She happened to have too many people there. The woman broke in on Sunday morning without knocking and told them to leave. She used the phony excuse that there was too much noise. There wasn't even any music playing and all the young people mostly in their late 20's and 30's were all just talking indoors. I was there and left that night. read more

The home we rented was very nice, on the Sandy River. It was in a beautiful setting out on a long, private and secluded road. Felt like we were camping. Loved that part! But, the river was unusable--too rapid to fish or even get too near with kids. It was very hard to get down to the river as well. We came solely to fish and couldn't do that, so we were kinda bummed. No one warned me of that when booking, despite the fact that I mentioned what we were looking for. The house inside was spacious and accommodating. However, it was very dusty and dirty on the floor and bathrooms. It was clear it had been cleaned but maybe that it sat for a long time without guests. Well...now that I think about it, the tracks of the sliders were very dirty and looked totally uncleaned. The rugs weren't shaken out. There was sand and pine tree needles all over the floor. Our friends felt the need to vacuum and clean before they could feel comfortable. To be fair, the management did come take a look after we complained. And then they came to clean it, but it wasn't much cleaner when they left. The broom was completely disgusting, so maybe it would be hard clean the house with something so dirty! We got that it's a river house out in the middle of nowhere so we didn't let it ruin our trip. The dishwasher was hanging out too...they fixed that upon complaint. read more

I've stayed in one of their rental houses twice now, and they are heads and tails above any rental I've ever gotten anywhere across the country. Crazy good customer service (thanks Kayla! And everyone at the front desk!), the house was amazing (both times), they're reasonable and sweet people (apparently we left a lot of stuff behind once, which they let us know right away), and they have really good prices, even compared to air bnbs in the area most of the time. Only lame part is that you think they're giving you a deal on passes for the mountain, but you're really saving like six bucks on a day pass. We had a cabin booked and then the wildfires hit in mid September. We received an email from this company canceling our reservation. This we completely, 100% understood and agreed with. Where the poor customer service came in was the vacation rental company not refunding our money right when they cancelled it. I understand the cancellation policy, but this circumstance was the company canceling our reservation, not us canceling. In this situation they should have just refunded our reservation. We had bought their "vacation insurance" through RedSky, which is just about the worst insurance company to work with. I filed a claim on September 16 and still have not heard back from them. This is after multiple emails and calls. Mt Hood should really evaluate who they do business with, and should show an ounce of customer service by just refunding the reservation due to exceptional circumstances. read more

I'm pretty new to yelp, but remembered the absolute worst customer service and experience of my life and had to let people know that this place is absolutely awful! I rented a small cabin back in 2011 and it was for Valentine's Day mid week. It sounded wonderful, right along a river with a hot tub and fireplace. We arrive and the place looked wonderful and cozy. It started getting dark and we built a fire. Fire was great but they only supplied enough wood for the first night and we were there for two. Then we go to use the hot tub.. it was cold! That immediately upset me because that was something I had been looking forward to. We go inside to go play a board game and drink some wine by the fire.. we turn the heat on and wait for it to kick on, but it never gets above 62 degrees. We were cold all night long! The blankets on our bed were so light weight that we were huddled up together all night and freezing. We called maintenance the next morning and they informed us that the heater mid week is set at that temperature for energy reasons and that we had a fireplace. I was blown away to learn that we were renting a place that wouldn't allow us to be comfortable and have no running hot tub. I then told them that wasn't acceptable and got a very rude woman on the phone that said I was completely bonkers basically because they weren't going to call the owner and ask for the heat to be upped. They don't bug the owner to worry about such things like that. Then we left and I asked for a partial refund for such a shit stay and no hot tub both nights and that same customer service woman was completely horrid! She made me cry because she was belittling me to the point I gave up and didn't bother getting any money for a refund. Please do not bother wasting your money and time with this company. We rented a cabin for a weekend. We drove down from Seattle to meet a few family and friends for a weekend of snow and snowboarding. We chose this company because we liked the advertisement for a secluded cabin with a hot tub. However, upon arriving the hot tub was not warm. When we called they informed us that it has been drained just before our arrival, so it needed to heat up. We were not able to use it the first night we rented. The cabin was not secluded, it was in a subdivision at the end of a street. The dishwasher didn't not work the entire length of our stay. They advertised provided firewood, which was not there. Also, the outside was littered with beer bottles from previous tenants. Only positive, they allowed us to enter 45 minutes early. We rent a cabin with friends every year. This has been the most disappointing cabin in caparison to all others we have rented. The agency never apologized, only gave us excuses and never offered any compensation. Overall, a disappointing experience here, especially for the price. read more

We recently booked a cabin for a weekend stay with Mt Hood Vacation Rentals. Note: My expectations are high when I spend more than 500 for a weekend stay somewhere. In the hospitality business, I expect a high level of service. This company delivered well, but not exceptional. Read on for details. Cabin: 4 out of 5 stars. I had to move to a cabin other than the one I picked because the hot tub was broken. Service 4 out 5 stars. I had to ask to be moved, it was not suggested or thought of by the staff. But, they did respond quickly once I asked and made another cabin available to us. Cleanliness 5 out of 5 stars. The cabin was very nice and clean. Amenities- 4 out of 5 stars. The first cabin had a stereo system that had an input for a digital music player such as Iphone or Mp3 player. The cabin we moved to was old school and did not have such a function. Kitchen was nicely furnished with utensils and BBQ was older, but worked well. There is a well stocked market store nearby for groceries and what not. Atmosphere: 4 out 5 stars. The cabin we ended up in- river's edge I believe, backed up to a cliff and you had the pleasant sounds of the river washing over you. In the front, where the bedrooms are, if you have the windows open, even at night, you have the not so pleasant sounds of HWY 26 washing over you. Bring ear plugs if you want to sleep with the windows open. Otherwise, it was very peaceful. Spent most the time in the back end of the cabin. Hot tub is nicely fenced in for privacy. We booked the Moondance cabin with a hot tub. Upon arrival at the office, I received a note in the key drop box that the hot tub was not working. Not cool. This was a special romantic weekend, and with no functioning hot tub, meh. I expressed my displeasure on the phone with the on call staff member as the office was closed. She first seemed miffed that I was not happy, mentioning that it was a rental house and these things happen. From my perspective this is no different than renting a car and getting one where the AC doesn't work, or a hotel room where there is something wrong with the room. You need to be proactive in moving your guest to other accommodations, not wait for them to ask. Once I asked, I got a call back within a few minutes and we were able to meet the manager back at the office, pick up the key to the other cabin and continue on our romantic weekend. I would recommend this location, but also encourage calling ahead to make sure all the I's are dotted and T's crossed. read more

Rented from Mt Hood Vacation Rentals over the New Year weekend and enjoyed every minute. Their home was everything we had hoped for and was comfortable, well-stocked, and accommodated every member of our family including our two dogs. After several quiet days with family bonding and enjoying some great home cooking, the snow started falling and we were quickly living in a Winter Wonderland. The outdoor opportunities beckoned to everyone and we enjoyed many hours of playing in the snow, exploring the surrounding forest and gaining a new appreciation of the quiet that only snow-ladened trees can create. In addition, when we found ourselves snow-bound after waking up to an additional 14 inches of new snow our final morning, the Rental agency was very understanding and allowed us extra time to obtain the chains for a safe departure. Was planning a Christmas vacation. Arrived on the 22nd of December after driving 11hours. Opened the door to a home that smelled like it had burned down. At that time it was late so unloaded all our stuff and went to bed. I slept on the second floor and the home was freezing even with the heater on and the smoke smell was keeping me awake because I couldn't breathe. My eyes were burning and throat closing....needless to say no sleep at all. First thing in the morning I called the office and was told that the heater in part of the home hasn't been working for some time. I reported the smoke smell from the wood stove. Also the windows on the home didn't lock and there was a puddle of water in the dining room. They sent a couple girls over to show us how to use the stove at which time they smoked out the house so much I had to go outside just to breathe and talk to them. My 86 year old mother was on a flight getting ready to join us. I told the ladies we would not be staying and wanted a refund which later was agreed by mt hood rentals. Mt hood rentals did absolutely nothing to help us relocate and to this day have never received a phone call to see where we ended up on Christmas or to apologize . Needless to say I am extremely disappointed with this company. read more

We rented a house for Christmas for our family for 4 days.Half were coming from California and the other half from Washington state.4 flew in from California on the 23rd.Keep in mind that 3 of our family were children looking forward to a visit from Santa on Christmas eve in what was to be a snowy wonderland in Welches with all the Family.4 of us arrived at 8:00 pm on the 22nd to a house that smelled like smoke.The house had a wood stove insert in the fireplace that was supposed to also be a source of heat.It turned out that the only functional heater was only in one side of the house the other side we learned the following day had been out for weeks.Had we known we could have made other plans or at the very least had a plan B.My Wife got sick that evening from the smoke smell that still lingered in the house throughout the evening.We got up the next morning and tried to start a fire in the wood stove to keep warm and the smoke just poured out of the stove even with the flew totally open.We tried a few times and got the same result many of us being really familiar with wood stoves throughout the years.We called Mt Hood rentals to try to get someone to fix the heater and it was then we were told that it had not worked in weeks.They said someone would be out to help us with the wood stove as soon as they could.In the meantime I looked around and say moisture on the inside of the window in front 2 windows in back that were unable to lock they just slid open from the outside and a luke warm hot tub that was not turned on not to mention other issues.The 2 employees came out and tried to start a fire in the wood stove and they could not fix it they filled the house up with so much smoke we were afraid of the children and the 86 year old great grandmothers health.We had no choice we could not stay.no one was safe in this house.We asked for relocation of any kind and got no help whatsoever.Hotel close or anything.We were frantically trying to find a place be cause the plane had even already landed with the remainder of our family waiting at the airport wondering where to go.This whole thing was devastating especially on Christmas and we received NO HELP,NO APPOLOGIES NO EMAILS NO CALLS NO WONDERING HOW THINGS WORKED OUT FOR US.Mt hood vacation rentals are the worst and they owe us much more than the refund that they even hesitated to give us.Why I have to give the 1 star is beyond me.TRUST ME IF YOU USE THEM AND HAVE A PROBLEM YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN read more
