You must go to MT Smog, and I'm not just blowing smoke. I sent out a quote to multiple vendors and Matt responded right away. Nobody could beat his quote, and he answered all of my questions, so MT was the clear choice. Still, I had reservations. Not those kids of reservations- you can just pop by anytime. But you never know if someone will honor the quote. Or, if they are going to honor it, but then add weird fees like "key handling". Van was super helpful. When I told him the quote didn't match the charge, he got Matt over rather than debate. Turns out I was to blame, leaving out key information about my vehicle, but he still honored the quote, with no problem, making it clear that customer service is key to smooth transactions and return customers. High on the Smog Smog and registration shop located in a very industrial area approximately 10min south of DTSJ. I only went here for a Smog check, so can't speak on the registration portion of the process. The Good: *In business here for fifteen years (ca. 2009) *Amazingly fast turn-around of less than twenty minutes from soup to nuts. *Friendly service *$10-off a Smog check Yelp check-in offer is hot. It brought my total down to a Van Halenesque $51.50 out the door. *Clean waiting room *3% discount w/ cash *Private lot so you can avoid San José Ave (more on that later). The Meh: *Yelp check-in offer is only good for vehicles model years 2000 and later. So scrapers need not apply. :) The Ugly: *Ironically, San José Ave is probably like the worst street in the city. Not that the road is in bad shape, but just the sheer volume of traffic that uses it because it's a cut-thru from Almaden Expwy to 1st St. Conclusion: Great spot to get a smog check at a very reasonable price. read more

To echo the many other reviews, I called in to MT Smog Check for my Honda Civic. They told me they had time that day (on a Tuesday) and to bring it in whenever is convenient for me. I pull up and let them know I had called them earlier. They told me no problem, have a seat in the waiting room, and they can get to my car right away. I don't think I even finished checking my emails when he walked back in and said it was ready to go!! There was only 1 other person in the waiting room so I guess that explains the fast service. I mentioned the Yelp online coupon and he took $20 off, I paid $40 total. Easy peasy and I got to finish registering my car, no problems with paperwork or needing to verify their work. I've been to MT Smog Check a couple times now and I have to say that it's still just as 5-STAR-worthy as I remember. On my most recent visit, I had to get a mandatory smog inspection before I could renew my vehicle registration. While nobody likes getting smog checks done, MT Smog makes the process as painless as possible. I had my smog done and had my certificate digitally sent to the DMV all in about 20 minutes. Now that's what I call efficiency. Staff is super friendly and professional. All this greatness for the amazing Yelp price of $40 per Smog Check!!! For Porsche owners, I've found that not every local smog check place can actually smog a Porsche. MT Smog on the other hand has no issues at all with a Porsche...just awesome! read more
