"I love getting smog tests for my car!" said no one ever. I came here bright and early on a Saturday morning to get my smog test done. There was already a car ahead of me and I was able to pull up right next to it and park while I waited to have my car serviced. If you're looking for this place while using Waze, don't do what I did and drive past it because you're looking for a smog facility only. This specific location is at the 76 gas station. Rafael was my smog tech and he was great-- Friendly, personable and speedy. Speedy is the key word here because I know you guys don't want to be spending all day at a gas station when you could be doing other things on the weekend. Rafael handed me a clip board so I could fill out some information while he was finishing up with the car that was ahead of mine. Because of this, the process was smooth and seamless. Once he was done, he pulled my car up and got done with the test in about 10 minutes. Don't forget to mention "Yelp" here because you get half off the price. Customers like me are the reasons why Businesses may choose not to pick up their phone calls as the last hour is just around the corner. I called my usual spot but my boss lady was getting ready for her daily mission out the door. The time was nearing closing for most of these smog checkers (called Happy Hour so you can make it before 7pm looking as if you came straight from work my dears :) Not only was it close to 5pm, it was also the deadline on my renewal - and when your ONLY job that day was to come back with a Pass Certificate - there was no more room for error. I end up calling 3 places closest to my location - "We closing in 30 min and it's $______. Either/Or Pricey and sharing the same tempo of being On the not voluntarily accommodating side today. The 4th call was to here. After reading all the reviews, I needed to find Rafael! But he wasn't there...instead "Jesus" answered my call. He kindly said, "sure, come by, I close at 6:30 today." I got there at 5:30 and was in my car driving back to home by 5:53. He was heaven sent. (no pun intended). My apologies for submitting this long overdue appreciation. As like the other reviews, this is part of a gas station so parking can be challenging, other than that - I give 5 STARS all across the board. The name of this place is misleading... more like Mt. UNPLEASANT! I was driving by mid morning and remembered I had a 1 month old voucher (specifically for for pre-1999 vehicles) for my old car that needed to be smogged at a STAR station. I pulled in since there was only one car there, and waited until that customer left to speak with the attendant. I told him I was dropping by and had a voucher, and I was instantly denied a smog test because "the voucher does not cover STAR station required tests"... Nowhere in the fine print did it say not applicable to STAR testing, so I was astounded. He even admitted there was nothing in the fine print, but still gave me the excuse that the voucher was posted wrong and that he was going to email them to change it. I asked if he would be willing to honor the voucher, and he laughed in my face and said "BRUH I ALREADY TOLD YOU NO". He also said more than once that I did not make an appt (remember, I was the only customer at that point) and apparently that was upsetting for him. If he had led with appts only, I would have accepted it and went on my merry way. Maybe the shop had a REALLY TIGHT schedule with zero cars waiting. Complete was of time. He sarcastically wished me a nice day so 1 star for that ;) You're better off spending the extra $10-20 and going to someone who actually cares about their reputation.
