And so, you go home, and you Google "Best independent mechanic in _____ zip code," and you see what pops up on Yelp, and you read some promising reviews, and you make an educated guess as to which mechanic sounds like your best bet, and you drive to their location with a hope and a prayer that this random garage you found on Yelp can fix your vehicle in a timely manner without charging you an arm and a leg. In that case, I'm happy to report that AV Auto can! Long story short, my check engine light came on, I ran (free) diagnostics at AutoZone, I went to the dealership, I left the dealership, I cursed the dealership, and then I found AV Auto on Yelp. AV confirmed the diagnosis (I needed a new engine coolant pump), recommended I get the part online (for a better price), set a time for the repair, and finished the job in less time than they quoted me. If only everything in life was this easy! So if you're reading this, and you're thinking to yourself, "Can I trust this random dude on Yelp about this random garage on Yelp?" the answer is: "Yes. They sent me to 3C and whoever I spoke to on the phone told me, "guards don't work, we put a cage on it." Sounds good to me! I called the guys as soon as I picked my car up and told them I could get there by 5:20. They close at 6 so I was so grateful they allowed me to come in. The process was quick and we were out of there by the time they closed. Shortly after leaving, I realized I had left my sunglasses at the shop. I called at 6:12pm and THANKFULLY one of the guys picked up. He confirmed that my sunglasses were there and said he'd wait for me to drive back (which was SO sweet because I live across town and did not want to drive all the way back the next day). After sitting in traffic for 20 mins, I felt bad having him wait and called back to see if he could just leave them in a discrete spot outside. I'm not sure who I spoke to but he was happy to do so, and left them in a very discrete spot outside the shop, wrapped in a towel. To me, that's above and beyond customer service because the guys didn't have to answer the phone after hours, and they certainly didn't have to wait, but they made sure I got my sunglasses back. Last but not least, I took my car into my Toyota dealership for an oil change today and I asked them to check the catalytic converter + cage to make sure everything looked good and they said everything looked great. My only complaint is that I wish I had known about this shop BEFORE my converter was stolen. The price is incredibly reasonable and the guys are great 10/10.
