Best Schnitzel and Spaetzle in the area!!! Music on weekends, too! It is ALWAYS a great time there, and wonderful food and drinks!

What a gem! The food was shockingly delicious. My husband and I enjoyed the brussel sprouts and mac & cheese spatzle to start. Then, we ordered the pork and chicken schnitzel. How tender was it? You can easily cut it with a butter knife. We ate at the bar and the bartender Patrick was wonderful. Highly recommend!

Ambience is just ok but if you're there to n Thursday Jam Night, you'll hear some great music from people who just love to play and sing. We tried the Austrian white wine and it was excellent. Husband had Salmon who said it was cooked just right and flavorful. I had the chicken paprikash. The sauce was delicious but could have used a bit more Hungarian paprika and a bit more salt. Spaetzle were perfect! The chicken was presented as 3 legs. My preference would be thighs but the legs were quite delicious.

Interesting place. Has an Austrian theme to the food. The decor is more country saloon though. The soft pretzel and holstein schnitzel were excellent. The calamari was okay. However the Grandma's ragout was a little bland and the kaiserschmarren was burned. Service was very good. Interesting addition to the area.

I was slightly surprised to find this place in Asbury while scrolling Yelp. Asbury is close to us but it is actually in the part of town near 78. We went for dinner on a Saturday night around 6 so there were other diners but not busy. There was a band setting up to start at 8. Staff was very attentive. We had the soft pretzel, Weiner schnitzel, and pulled pork sandwich. All was very good and served hot and fresh. My husband ordered a cocktail that was mostly ice in the glass and only a few sips of drink so he also ordered a beer. Food was very good, and schnitzel piece was XL. I do wish it was served with a lemon wedge to squeeze on it as that is more traditional to me. Sides seemed traditional but would have preferred spaetzel. Unfortunately they were out of chicken parikash (or it wasn't made for the day yet) which made my decision easier but hope to go back to try it some day.

The tempura style mushrooms tasted a little like flour. The desserts however got back on track and were without. We had two mixed drinks, and all told for three adults was about 65 each. Once inside, the feeling was a lot better. Not much in the way of art work on the walls, but still had a nice warm feeling. There were 3 of us and we did a lot of sharing. The Scallops in Shredded Filo was good but the Crab & Artichoke, with garlic aioli, parsley and capers was definitely "the winner". The Seafood Ceviche with scallops, halibut and shrimp was also delicious. While 2 of us were still enjoying our appetizers, our entrees were brought to the table and our plates moved to make room for them. I made the comment to no one in particular that I would try to eat faster as the seafood ceviche was pushed off to the side of the table. We had a 7 pm reservation and for the most part the restaurant was full by that time but we were not intentionally eating slowly. I could see if we might be taking up too much time eating and they had to move the tables but that was not the case as the restaurant was only half full by the time we left. For an establishment that is charging the prices that it is, Avg $18 for appetizers, high $30s for entrees, no one wants to feel rushed. The Halibut Almondine with Beurre Blank was good but not as good as we had hoped, with it being on the dry-side. The Dorado with Baby Vegetables was delicious as well as beautifully presented with "potato fish scales". A shared warm Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream completed our meal. Their menu is extensive making it an easy decision to return but I will mention that we would like a more leisurely experience this time around.

Now we did order takeout, but we have ordered takeout from other places in Linden and even as far as Woodbridge and we have never received food this bad. I've seen the reviews that this place was rated with extremely good food and reasonably priced but what we had was extremely disappointing. For the appetizers we had the potato pancakes, which were soggy mushy the Polish Kabasa that was extremely salty, and the pierogies which were dried out on the outside and dry on the inside. For dinners, we had the Abigail's chicken (which I don't know what kind of sauce they put all over it, but it was horrendous), the braised short ribs (there was only one whole rib with the casing still on it and had nothing but fat and grizzle), the stuffed flounder (was too extremely thin slices of flounder stuffed with what was supposed to be crab meat stuffing, but they might as well just call it stuffing because there was no crab or even crab taste), we also ordered a fourth dinner, which I cannot remember what it was, but it was again extremely disappointing. We definitely will not order from here again, whether it be going and eating in or doing takeout.

You may have to fold your mirrors in to hit cars, I'm not exaggerating. I had envisioned a larger restaurant but this was small with maybe 7 tables. We sat at one with padded wooden benches that was comfortable. We were the only customers when arrived for lunch. The menu is limited and the waitress was as authentic as the food. There were some lunch specials posted but we opted to try three things: mushroom cheese bread, potato pancakes and the blueberry pierogies. The pierogies were definitely handmade and on the larger side as soon as you cut it open, the blueberries rushed out. There was a sweet sugary sauce on the top. That was unexpected. They were served cold and not warm. They were sweet. There were two of us and we each were only able to eat one of the six that came in the order. The mushroom cheese bread was drizzled with ketchup, which was unexpected that cheese was melting and gooey. Our favorite item was definitely the potato pancakes. They were cooked to perfection and the sour cream was the perfect condiment. They do have limited drinks here, including bottled water, cans of Pepsi and diet Pepsi, and some unique bottled drinks like birch water. The biggest drawback for the spot was that I just didn't think it was as clean as I would've liked it to be. It is authentic and as you eat, there is a man in the back that you can see making pierogies by hand. I'm glad that we tried this, but I'm not sure that I would return.
