The drinks are always made perfectly. I usually get a margarita, and it's consistently great. If you're a beer drinker, the beer on tap is always ice cold and exactly how it should be. The atmosphere is fun, the service has always been great, and it's become one of those places that feels familiar and comfortable every time we walk through the door. The waitress was great and really sweet about it. She apologized 100 times and went to get the manager. When the manager finally came out, she apologized but didn't really seem like she knew how to handle that type of situation. Didn't say she'll comp it or anything close to that. She asked if I wanted anything else, to which I declined, and then took the food to the kitchen and never returned. When the bill arrived, thankfully she did comp my portion of the meal. All this to say, I will sadly not be returning here

The seasoning is good, the chicken is perfectly cooked, and the fries are great. While my wife stuck with her old standby, I went on a little adventure. Why does a pub have gyros on the menu? I had to find out. Eating establishments sometimes stray out of their comfort zone to try to appeal to more people, and the results are usually not good. So, how was the gyro? IT WAS GREAT! Seriously, this is one of the best gyros I've ever had anywhere. The pita was thick and tasted like it was freshly baked. There was a substantial amount of flavorful meat (you can also get a chicken gyro). And, the tzatziki sauce was good (it needed more dill, but I can say that about many Greek restaurants). I got sweet potato fries on the side, which were earthy and tasty without any real seasoning. Unfortunately, Joey B's isn't in a great spot, at the end of a strip mall, off a busy road (Van Dyke). I only found it because of Yelp...I would have driven right by and never known there was a restaurant there. But, the locals seem to know they have a good thing going here. The mid-afternoon crowd was decent, which is encouraging. But, the bartender had to also wait on all the tables, which led to spotty service. I do plan to return here, at least in part because I want to be able to say that one of the best gyros in the area isn't in Greektown: it's right here, in Sterling Heights.

I wanted to like this place! Got there as soon as they opened and the waitress started out by telling us she's hung over from the night before. Asked the server how the fries were and she says "I'm not going to lie, there not good" anyways ordered an appetizer, two burgers and water to drink and the bill came to over $50! .50 for dipping sauce, $3.00 your side of onion rings. They might have even charged for the water! This place has potential but they need to stop price gouging! read more

The older man -- who I believe may be the owner -- lingered very close, seemed shaky, and poured drinks far stronger than intended. When the bill came, there was a cash vs credit price option, and we were told we were the first guests to use the new system. Even so, the total still didn't match the menu prices we ordered from, and that wasn't clearly explained upfront, which made the experience confusing. Ambiance-wise, it's a classic dive bar -- no complaints there. Live bands, lots of events, and a hole-in-the-wall feel. That part is honestly the strongest draw. For anyone unfamiliar, this used to be Mangan's Irish Hut for years. The original owners retired, someone new bought it, and now it's just "The Hut." The Irish Hut signage is still on the building, with BBQ signage in spots as well, so it feels like the place is still finding its identity. If I'm speaking directly to the owner: there is potential here. The event ideas and community focus are great. But food consistency, drink balance, menu accuracy, and clearer communication all need attention.
