Mugs is sorta the best! It's a great spot to sit and study, go on an awkward first date, or grab lunch with your mom. I usually get the breakfast burritos which are huge, tasty, and satisfying. I honestly have never left a negative review before but I just gotta say, if you're going here for coffee and pastries its a 5/5 every time, the drinks are great and the pastries are too. The kitchen at the old town mugs makes some AMAZING food, and I think this location could benefit from similar procedures or training. Every single time I've gotten something from the kitchens here something has been wrong. (I used to have to walk everywhere and this was much closer to campus) to the point where I just started going to Old Town location every time. I hadn't been back in a year, and it Happened to work out that I went today and it was another issue. I don't want anyone in particular to get in trouble so I'll just say in the times I've been there I've had burnt/completely dry burritos, burnt sandwiches and untoasted toast. This CSU mugs location is still way above a lot of other quick college-spot for eating, but it is nowhere near up to par with the care and attention to detail of the other kitchen. I can tell that whoever's running mugs absolutely loves coffee and absolutely loves food and cares about providing a high quality experience, which is the only reason why I took the time to write this review. And also, I'm just some idiot who has never ran a restaurant or coffee shop before, so I hope my words aren't taken too harshly. read more

I ordered a Sourdough French Toast and their special matcha latte of the month, the Pot of Gold. Service was excellent and extremely fast. My French toast was served to my table and had a beautiful presentation. It included a berry compote which was my favorite part. The matcha was also wonderful. I loved how the menu included which item was gluten free, vegetarian or vegan. There were options for so many different dietary restrictions. The cafe as a whole had a great amount of seating and a positive vibe. Both baristas that I talked to were very warm and friendly. I am working on writing a dissertation so finding a good coffee shop to work at is a must. Mugs is a perfect place to get work done and catch up with friends during Happy Hour. The coffee is really on point! You can get also $1 refills of drip coffee which is nice when you need to stay on task and properly caffeinated. The music is not too loud which is why I love getting work done over here. I also enjoy the outdoor sitting area when it's nice out. Highly recommend this place! read more

Service generally good but one time I got a sandwich and soup combo and waited over 30 minutes for soup that came out Luke warm, so I took one star off. I have been going to all the Mugs locations ever since they opened. Think they were understaffed. Music can be a bit loud for meetings there but they said they would turn the volume down for my meeting. Coffee drinks are good. They have advantage of being right across from CSU. If the weather is good, there is outside seating. read more

This is a terrific coffee shop right on campus. They have a nice variety of stuff to choose from. Plenty of coffees, lattes, specialty drinks and some food as well including sandwiches, breakfast options and a bunch of sweet, friendly staff to help you with your order. Parking situation is a bit bad if you're driving to it. Plenty of seating, free Wi-Fi and a short walk from campus. read more

Okay. I've only been here once and already love this place. First of all, the design and ambience of Mugs is everything I wish for a coffee shop. I had a Danwich on gluten-free bread and it was AMAZING. Tasted so good, it was like having all of my breakfast foods in one sandwich. I was impressed by how toasty and yummy the bread was, considering most places just have small, soggy pieces of gluten-free bread. SO GOOD. I honestly don't know what else to say, haha. The employees are super nice and there's really nothing bad to say about this place. I'm excited to come back and try some Chai! Also, they actually have GOOD music playing which is essential in a great coffee shop. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see Mugs open another coffee shop in town. This one is located on the Oval and seems not as busy as the main one in Oldtown. Probably because it was in the summer and the throngs of college students were away. I am sure this place can get quite hopping since it is so close to CSU. Parking is also slightly easier which is nice... again depending what time of day you want to go there. This Mugs seems to have a bit more of a sleeker look than the one in Oldtown which is refreshing to see the difference. Part of it is because it is in a new building but it seems like they have made the effort to make it look sleek. Despite the differences between the two locations of Mugs this place has the same great coffee and pastries that I come to expect when I go to Mugs. read more

These folks have some of my favorite beans, plus they totally helped me out of a jam with some last-minute catering-sized coffee! Mugs for life. Plus, sometimes I ask my girlfriend to buy beans for me if she's in the neighborhood. SOME places she's gone haven't been too accommodating (she's not a big coffee person, which doesn't seem to sit well with the folks who are overly proud of their artisinal whatnots). Jackson was willing to multi-task and have a reassuring and encouraging conversation while making the best vanilla latte I've had since my recent move to FoCo. Immaculate vibes, above and beyond service, and solid selection of safely spaced seating. Definitely my new go to for the morning pick me up. 11/10. Even made me a custom sandwich with bacon. Right next to campus, Mugs is an excellent place to study, especially with groups of people. The interior space is pretty large with LOTS of seating. Mugs has both breakfast and lunch options, which I noticed not many coffee shops in the area have. Definitely will go back there again to study! read more

I support small businesses. But I found Mugs' anti-Starbucks stickers to be in poor taste and not reflective of the good spirit I expect from indie shop owners. Starbucks doesn't have stickers that say "Friends don't let friends drink from independent shops." Starbucks has a strong commitment to hiring veterans as well as refugees, pays well, and pays tuition to its employees. I'd say they model good corporate stewardship that should be rewarded. I was in Seattle this past weekend and all the corporate and indie shops shared a spirit of goodwill toward each other. They let their products speak for themselves. Everyone was cheerful. On another note, I ordered a Mugs smoothie, which was fabulous. Then I broke out in hives and realized my order was prepared incorrectly; I had specified the green blend and not the red, specifically because of a rare allergy. (It did occur to me that the drink looked VERY red when I received it, but both varieties have dark red berries, so I imagined their rich color was dominant.) When I approached the staff at the counter, it was eventually determined that yes they had made a mistake. These things happen and I wasn't mad. I need to make sure I'm extremely clear about my allergy and watch my food being prepared--this was a good reminder of that. But it would have been nice had they offered to reimburse me for my smoothie price, as I did have to rush off and buy 2 kinds of allergy medicines as this is a potentially dangerous situation. The moral of the story, I guess, is that we are all fallible--as individuals and corporations. Let's recognize this and strive to be our best, without vilifying the other. First time visit just to try a bacon breakfast burrito .... helluva generous serving of yum ~!~ Too many potatoes in it for me and every one of those little cubes of starch were almost rock hard and waaaay under cooked but the flavors really came together nicely. I've been coming to Mugs since a friend told me about their Jazzy Java drip. It's worth it. But the food and service make me come back. The Jazzy Java helps a ton, though. I guess I should be grateful that my precious drip comes with fast, friendly, regular people service AND the option of bagels, salads and other brunchy deeeeelights. read more

Mugs recently opened at the corner of Laurel and Howes - near the iconic CSU Oval. Like the original in old town, if offers great coffee, nice music, free internet, and all the stuff you'd expect. Whereas the original Mugs is cozy, the floor plan here is more open. Tables are comfortable, and, good on them, wall sockets are everywhere. Great for when your laptop battery is nearly shot. Like any new place, it comes across maybe a little sterile, but overall, it's well done, and will be in my rotation of places to go... especially if I grab a lunch along Laurel somewhere. read more

Darn good coffee and even better breakfast burritos! What's not to like? Mugs has a good environment for studying or chatting, or studying and chatting (my personal favorite). Though everything is a little pricy, it's usually worth it. My only complaint is that filling up a cup I bring in should be less expensive. Other than that, I'm a fan! read more

I have been here three times, and adore both the menu and the atmosphere! It is super vegan and vegetarian friendly, but also has great meat options. Muffins and iced coffee drinks are amazing, and they have seating for both groups and just singles! The employees are friendly and very knowledgeable. Love their muffins and breakfast sandwiches. Right by campus, too, so it's a great place to hang and meet friends! One note, though-- if you want a small iced latte and a muffin, it's gonna cost you about 7 bucks. I think it's worth it, but as a cheap college student prices could be better. read more

This review is about behavior, not food. I went there for the first time today and this is my last visit for sure. Their pick up service is terrible. All my foods were given on the pick up counter without any bag! I was wondering what type of pick up service is this when they're not giving your food in a bag! I asked for a bag and felt like I asked for a kidney from the lady over the counter! Eventually she got a bag which was torn. Since her behavior was not friendly, I didn't want to talk more about the bag. When I got back to my car, I found out that I was given 1 brownie whereas I ordered 2! The lady was kinda rude from the beginning, she didn't say anything to me, I said I'm here for a pick up and she just got the food and threw them on the counter top, not even a "thank you" or "have a nice day!" Although, she smiled, talked politely and said "have a good one!" to the person who was picking up his order right before me! People go to these locally owned shops to have a good time, to get a friendly behavior which they cannot get from a drive through chain store. I think the owner need to train the employees about how to behave with a customer. A simple smile can earn a lot of respect. Not going to this coffee shop anymore. read more

Great coffee shop for meetings, and many people use it for studying, but I think it's a little too loud to concentrate. They serve cold brewed "toddy" all year long while other serve it only in the warm months. The owner is apparently a big supporter of local businesses. Their other location on college ave makes that more evident with a Big Shot bicycle hanging from the ceiling and a sign for Panda Cycles outside the front door Parking is limited, so I suggest riding a bike. read more

I go to Mugs every gd day of my life. It is a social event for myself and my fellow graduate students. As I shovel a mediocre burrito down my gullet, I have finally gotten up the nerve to write this review. I order an iced Americano every. single. day. I would say 2/3 of the time it comes hot, and most of those times I watch the baristas ask each other what the drink was supposed to be with flippant nonchalance. I want to like Mugs so badly. It's a fun study spot and the ambiance provides that je ne sais quoi that's imperative to good third-space. But if I have to stomach one more undercooked potato in a sloppy mess of a burrito I might just vomit it up over their artisinal floor. Be better. I will continue to patronize your wretched establishment, but I will not stand by and do it silently anymore. read more

Mugs is absolutely amazing! I am sitting here, right now, doing homework in their table section with free wifi. I'm not used to any coffee loung experiences, so i didnt know what to expect. I came in, ordered a medium mocha, and found a table. I expected the mocha to be called out and put in a paper cup for me to take back over to my table, but i got a beautiful, 'medium' sized red mug, filled with amazing mocha with a gorgeous leaf pattern in the foam on top. oh, yeah, and it was delivered to me at my table! no paper cups for me today! the people are nice, and kind, and helpfully encouraging in their behavior, particularly for people who don't quite know how to manage themselves in a coffee lounge. the decor is totally unique, and i am looking forward to spending many hours here, getting through high school and college by hanging out at mugs! p.s. the brownies?
