We came here 1 year later as we loved it the last time. And again it did not disappoint. This year was way busier than last year as they held an event here as the weather was very hot so they had stuff outdoors. We got my wife a T-Shirt this year and they got beads too. The food was great again All of them tasted great and you can see the photos. If you want real Irish food come here and enjoy.

We were celebrating a birthday and a Bon voyage so we decided to go to Muldoon's in New Port beach. My wife and I have been there before, but this time I wanted to try their fish and chips. I must say not the best fish and chips I've had. It was a bit bland and a certain part of it was soggy. My son, the birthday boy had steak frites, which was a little salty and a little tough even though it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. My guess is Muldoon's uses a choice New York strip instead of prime if they want to produce a more tender steak.

    Best appetizer they have! Pretzel!

Came here with the family the weekend before St. Patty's Day. I was probably spoiled in the Bay Area with places that did green beer and freebies for kiddos but this place did the trick when it came to staple food items. I like that this place has a courtyard if you want more light and then the usual dining area/pub ambiance (my 3 year old asked why it was so dark lol). Loved the pretzel but would have loved drinking the beers with the pretzel and the beers came after it. But the pretzel was on point for sure!! Highly recommend that one! The bangers were decent. My kids liked them. I thought they were good but a bit on the greasy side but the honey mustard was a good sauce that came with it. Got the poke and had to send it back. It was super spicy and the flavor overpowered the rest of the dish. I'm a big poke / sushi person so sadly wasn't impressed with their poke appetizer (that's what I get for trying poke at an Irish pub ha!) Got the corned beef and cabbage instead. Corned beef was good, and so were the carrots and mashed potatoes. The cabbage was pretty greasy with the bacon bits in them. Would have liked just plain cabbage. Kiddos got grilled cheese and chicken tenders and I like that it comes with fruit. Both were good. My husband got the corned beef sandwich. I had a bite and it was good but would have loved the plain boiled cabbage in there. Noella was our waitress and she was pretty good. Could have explained more about the dishes and the differences between them, but she was sweet with my kiddos. Another waiter was super kind and took our picture from different angles, which I so appreciated! He knew what was up :)

AHI POKE BOWL -(sorry forgot to get a pic before my husband ate some. There WAS more poke. ;)

This is such a good pub! If you love pub culture and everything about it, this is the place for you. From the decor, to the layout of the restaurant, it is an absolute gem. (I am always tickled by restaurants with a real tree in the middle of the place.) There are a couple different dining rooms, and two different bars. (One of them isn't open throughout the day) The bar is cozy, the seating is super comfortable. They have TV's. It's just has a good feeling vibe. If you want to sit in the courtyard, it's like you're outside, while actually being inside. The food is really good. They have great options. The seafood is great. I know it's not very Irish, but even the ahi is fresh. I had the Cobb salad, and it's quite possibly the best Cobb salad I've ever had. It has olives and Swiss cheese, as well as the other mainstays of a Cobb. Our server was super attentive. She was really friendly and cool. This is a place you can come to eat, or just come for a pint and some good laughs with friends. Love this spot for Newport. Sláinte!

We love coming here for the live music and food. Today we came to listen to Family Style. The courtyard is such a beautiful area. I love the openness of the courtyard. The service was very good, they took the orders quickly and the food came out quickly. The portions are very large and the food was very flavorful. Definitely will be back, especially if Family Style is playing.

Met up with a buddy at Muldoon's Irish Bar in Newport Beach for drinks and some early appetizers on a Wednesday, and the place was already buzzing right at 5:00, which is always a good sign. We grabbed some fries and a couple of beers off the happy hour menu. The beers were solid, and the classic half and half (half Guinness, half Harp) was a fun Irish style pour &!looks cool. We also tried the poke stack, which was very good. For something lighter, I had the Farmleigh Salad ($22) with grilled salmon, mixed greens, roasted tomatoes, dried cranberries, avocado, grilled corn, cotija cheese, and chimichurri dressing. Surprisingly hearty and really flavorful. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd hope for. Lots of dark wood, traditional Irish pub vibes, lively energy, and definitely not a quiet or boring spot. Service was excellent too. Our waitress was super friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving. Parking was a bit tight, so I had to circle around a few times before finally finding a spot. Felt like doing laps around an Irish roundabout. Food wise, it's solid pub food. Good for what it is, but don't expect fine dining or anything fancy. That said, it hits the spot for drinks and casual bites. Overall, great energy, good food, great service, and a fun place to hang out. I'd definitely come back.

    Nicely poured pint of Guinness!

Lived in London for years and finding Irish pubs here in the States that can pour a proper pint of Guinness is rare. I was walking around Fashion Island when I came upon Muldoon's and craving a Guinness. Nice atmosphere and vibe and the dude who greeted me was friendly. The pour was decent and the Guinness was delicious! Great cheeseburger with a basket of chips too! They also served complimentary soda bread and warm butter that was also very good. All in all a cool place to chill and have a pint. Reminded me a lot of the pubs in Dublin and London.

Such an awesome spot, whether it's for date night, happy hour, or even to host an event! They have an awesome outside dining area and great bar to watch any game. They host trivia on Tuesday nights at 7pm and have .89 cent wings! The staff is very friendly and their bartender, James, is the best! The bread served during dinner is SOO GOOD! My bf enjoyed his steak frites and I tried the Shepard's pie. They didn't lay light on the meat, I prefer more potatoes! But the carrots on top were prepared perfectly. A great place to checkout!

Great St Patrick's Day feel to this place. The waiter was super friendly and it just had a great energy. We had the corned beef and cabbage and the fish and chips. The corned beef with the Dijon sauce was decent and the cabbage was pretty good, but just not amazing. We thought the fish and chips were nice and crispy and the fries were also good. We started with the homemade chips, which were good, but I was expecting a sauce or something to go with it. Overall a really fun experience on a crazy crowded St Patrick's day.

Great Classic Gem of Newport Beach! Tucked away next fashion island, I had never been here even after living in OC my whole life. This place has been around for a very long time and their aesthetic definitely shows that, but in a cool and antique way. Staff is very friendly! I came with a friend on a Friday night around 9pm and had a great time in the dining room, the bar area was full. Drinks and food are very reasonably priced! Only thing that cost more than anywhere else is a Guinness, but you're in an Irish Pub, I'd charge more too, people are gonna buy it, like me. Got a steak frites which was great. Saw a bunch of pastramis going out that I want to try next time! Will be back

The food was incredible. I ordered the fish and chips. I'm a big Snapper fan so it was nice that they were made with Snapper and not Cod. Great drinks and selection from beers to excellent tasting whiskey. The server was amazing, she was attentive and nice. The ambiance is like no other. Beautiful courtyard with a giant tree in the middle. The bar is very Ireland lots of cool signs and memorabilia. Very authentic. Overall we had a great experience and would return without a doubt.

4.5 rating... Something was off, just slightly. I don't know if it was the time of day (Sunday evening) or if it felt a little sticky... Overall, the staff was kind and attentive, the food was very tasty, and it was easy to get a seat. They have a few TVs at the bar and lots of whiskey and Irish beers. I had the Shepherd's Pie and the ate all of the soda bread!! Very good and tasty just like you would get in Ireland!

Saw an Instagram post and decided to check out this restaurant as I love Irish pubs. Really nice, very homey feeling, great staff and bar tender, shout out to Jason Sat at the bar and really liked the atmosphere. Had my go to drink Tullamore D.E.W with honey on the rocks. Can't go wrong with this drink. Also had the soda bread and Sheppards pie. So tasty Would highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back soon. Remember to do random acts of kindness as it will make everyone feel wonderful. Happy Yelping. Please follow me for more awesome reviews

Want something sweet and breakfasty? Try the Churro Waffle Bites! Pretty dang sweet, but share that and also have it with something savory, can't go wrong plus you've got to try it! Pizzas have a wide variety too... Detroit style is pretty good and so is the Cauliflower Crust option. Also the sliders for the appetizer, tender beef dripped with 1000 Island on a Hawaiian roll. It's perfect for dinner with family or friends, followed by a walk to enjoy the holiday lights. In the summer, it's equally fantastic--I love sipping on their amazing martinis or specialty cocktails. Now, the pulled pork sandwich--someone I was dining with is a pulled pork sandwich connoisseur--they order it everywhere they go. Came here on a Sunday and was asked by the host if I wanted inside or outside. I said outside and…read morehe said no problem. Then passed us off to a different host - who brought us to a tabel in the back, inside. I mentioned that the first host had said we could sit outside and she said "Oh no, those tables are full" but I had just seen several open... so? It wasn't a huge deal though. We waited a looong time for a waiter to come over and when he did he brought us two waters - one cold and with ice and one very warm with no ice. I have no idea how he got two completely different waters. He apologized for being late and took our order. 45 minutes later - our food shows up (I ordered the salmon sandwich and my mom ordered a bowl of clam chowder). The clam chowder was served in a big bowl but was about a cups worth of soup...lots of empty space in that big bowl... However, my sandwich came with a large piece of plastic in it. I flagged down the manager, who is the only reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1, who was very nice, apologized prefusely, told me our meal was on the house, and offered me make me another sandwich. However, I said that I couldn't wait another 45 minutes for a new sandwich so I asked for a caesar salad instead - which he quickly got me. But..this is where bad turns worse. About 80% of the way through my salad, I look down and there's a silver bug walking around my lettuce. This is not a flying bug...it was in the salad. Ugh - I couldn't deal. Since the manager had already told us our meal was comped, we got up to leave but we've worked in kitchens before so wanted to alert the manager. I asked the younger male host at the front to get him for me and he said "oh, I can help you...what's up?" When I explained, he said, "Oh, okay, can you do me a favor and go sit back at your table and I'll send someone over?" Hahaha - no, I can't go sit back at the table with the bug. Geez louise! I told him as such and asked for the manager, who again, was super nice, offered me a gift card to return (which I turned down, I've been put off from this place at this point) but it was kind of him. He handled the situation very well and assured me he was going to go check the lettuce in the kitchen. The manager is the saving grace of this place but honestly, between weird warm water, terrible wait service (we never saw that original waiter again after he dropped off the water and took our order), plastic in one dish and a bug in the other...I'm concerned for the state of their kitchen. We certainly won't be back.
