I have a 4xe wrangler and wanted to upgrade steering. Everything went sideways - replacement part glitch, nonresponsive vendor, and mysterious codes from jeep locking it out. And I am on a tight timeline! Mule towed the jeep to the dealer, got it fixed and drove it back on their dime, discounted for the vendor error and extra time, and kept me informed at all times. It's not when things go well but when they go badly that you find out what people are made of - service at Mule is made of gold. Highly recommended. read more

They seem to have a good line of products, unfortunately my customer experience there is lacking, I spoke with a rep over the phone, when I went to meet him I ended up talking to three different employees who said yes he works here, but would not direct me to him until I finally found him by literally just asking everyone around if it was him, basically all they said as well we're gonna close in about 15 minutes. I should've been forewarned by my telephone experience. Probably good for web sales but not so much in person or service work, etc. read more

Was recommended to come here for an alignment by many as they're supposed to be experts with Toyotas and off-road rigs... I made a few mistakes that day, first one coming here to get my truck worked on, second, not asking for an alignment 'print-out', third, not doing a walk around before turning my keys over. Sure, they were able to squeeze me in last minute, and a couple hundred dollars later, my truck is more stable at speed when driving after a suspension upgrade, but the steering wheel is off center requiring me to sporadically steer left to keep the truck straight (quite annoying when doing a 800mile trip)... I left a message regarding the issue the same day, but haven't heard back. Once I got home I found out there was a perfectly straight paint scratch on my rear bumper which wasn't there the night before when I put my car away after a hand wash (and I drove it straight to Mule next day) but the burden of proof falls on me, and I have nothing to show for it. Ugh. read more

Mule Expedition Outfitters does good work but when something goes wrong, and they say they will call you back for repairs or updates they never seem too. Been trying to get the two dome lights in my new AluCab canopy replaced since the canopy leaked during the first rain around the front air vent which they sealed. That was about 1.5 months ago and since then all I get are either let me check on that and will call you back in 30 minutes and two days later no call or we should have the parts in a week and will get back with you and 1.5 months later nothing. They also never call you back if you leave a VM at the Preston location. read more

I cannot recommend Mule Expedition Outfitters. I purchased an AluCab topper from them in January 2021. I had no issue with the initial installation. The issue with the company came up when I noticed the front AluCab window had a leak. I live in the Northwest (rains frequently). The front window had a sustained leak that caused a small creek to flow from the front to back of my bed. Long-story-short, three months have passed. I have taken in the vehicle twice to get fixed. The first time they sealed the area between the AluCab and the rubber gasket holding the window. When I got it back and it was still leaking. I took it back a second time. Instead of identifying the where the leak was around the window, instead they put more sealant between the AluCab and rubber gasket. At this point, it looks like somebody glued the window in and it still leaks. I inspected the window myself and its clear the leak is coming from between the window and rubber gasket, and not between the AluCab and gasket. What bothers me the most about Mule Expedition Outfitters is that in both cases, they could have easily sprayed some water on the window to see where the leak was and if it had been fixed. Given my experience and inconvenience of taking it in, it doesn't seem worth taking it in again. I am probably going to end up just buying some sealant and doing it myself... read more

First time into the storefront was an interesting experience. Guys behind the counter greeted me coming in but no one was in any hurry to rush out and see if I needed help, not a big deal because I knew what I was looking for and had started making a pile for checkout. However, when you do ask for some guidance they are great about it. One of the things I bought was Baja lights and mounting brackets. When I got home, over an hour away, I noticed the open box of brackets was missing the hardware (4 bolts and spacers), called them and they remembered me just being there, had another set of bolts and spacers UPS to me next day delivery, outstanding and friendly service. Go to the Oregon store NOT Washington. I drove from Alaska to get a Project M installed on my truck. It was a terrible experience, and I literally cried when I left. 1) I did not have my GoalZero yet since they don't sell this model in AK and I was picking it up the next day in Seattle. Mitch was sure to make me feel stupid for not having it with me. At one point he said "Yeah, it looks like I'll be driving you into Seattle in my gas hog to pick this thing up". To this I responded "I'm happy to get an uber or proceed with the install without it since I'm detecting some resistance here". I never asked for a ride to get it, I just assumed the responsibility if the install was not perfect; I imagine the installer suggested he take me but I was not a part of that conversation. The ports on it are standard, and the installer had no trouble finding a solution but the installers really like to have all the equipment. 2) The payment process was a disaster. I've never heard of starting a wire transfer for an item you haven't even seen yet days in advance so I had money waiting in two accounts ready to wire. I started my wire transfers at 9am after I saw the item I was purchasing. I provided proof that the wires were processing, and one even processed right away. However, one of the transfers did not process by the east-coast deadline because of a bank typo. I've wired money like this several times when paying cash for vehicles at my local Toyota dealership and assumed this wouldn't be any different- but it was VERY different. At Toyota, they just have you sign a promissory note and you leave with your brand new vehicle. But at Mule, after driving 3 days down the Alcan these guys made me feel like an absolute piece of trash due to a bank error- threatening that I couldn't leave with my truck it if they didn't get the remaining payment immediately. They had proof it was processing and the balance in the account. I had to get the bank on the phone to verify my account balance in order to get a promissory note. The promissory note makes sense, the harassment prior to that does not make sense. Consider whether you are dealing with a bum or a working professional who has just driven 41 hrs straight before judging them. The payment posted at 8am the next morning instead of by 3pm EST the day of install due to a bank error. Not the customer's fault and it could have been handled much better. read more

I had Mule EO install a 2.5 inch EVO lift on my '21 Wrangler JL. I used an experienced company to install the lift, assuming they would know all the small details that count that I would not, had I installed the lift. 1. I was told I'd need wheel spacers only if I wanted to install 35" tires on my stock rims. That's incorrect. With this lift you have to install spacers regardless of tire size, if you keep/use your stock rims. This is what I read on the EVO page after the lift was installed. I realized after I got home from the lift install that the rear/passenger end link was dragging/scraping on the inside of my rim. If I drove slow enough the link would actually catch the rim. This could have been QUITE disastrous had i not heard the scraping. Since Mule is only open on the weekends, and the install was on a Friday, I had to troubleshoot and fix the issue that weekend without Mule. (realized what the issue was, added wheel spacers). 2. I called the following Monday to let them know what had happened. The guy I spoke with said the vehicle should be back in at 500 miles post install for a component check. I would LOVE to have this take place however since they are only open M-F, and my work schedule is such that I won't be able to take time off until maybe August(?). Maybe open one Saturday a month or ? to allow for those who would still chose to use Mule to have that option. 3. multiple wire and hose retainers were not replaced after the lift so I had wires and hoses dangling down. I was quoted 5.5 hours for the install however they took almost 8. I was hoping this meant that they weren't rushed and they were able to pay attention to details and be thorough. That was not my experience. Based on this experience I would not use this company again nor would I recommend them to anyone. It felt like a company that maybe at one point was really into the offroad scene but has changed to a more corporate 'sales 1st' mentality. read more

I have only bought a handful of accessories here and nothing major but they have always treated me well. I like the fact that the guys here don't pressure you to buy anything and they don't bad mouth you with what you pulled up in. Althought I have several vehicles, I personally love driving my tiny ity bity commuter car to save on gas and have driven it here every time without any of them making fun of it or asking why I drive it (unlike other shops). Next major purchase I will definitely be checking in with these guys first ! read more

I purchased an AluCab Contour canopy from Mule in early March 2023; the canopy was warped from the manufacturer, but Mule knowingly installed it anyways (I was in the waiting room and they could have checked with me at any point to see if they should proceed, but did not). After double the promised wait, they showed me the issue after install and I was not comfortable with what they pointed out. They assured me they'd work with AluCab to determine a solution. I was asked to come back a second time where they took off the canopy and measured my truck and the canopy for squareness/level. My truck bed was deemed fine and it was reconfirmed the canopy was the issue. I had much back and forth with AluCab corporate myself and Mule claimed they'd file a warranty replacement. It's been 6 months and still no resolution. The canopy still sits on my truck with an uneven seal to the bed and I don't feel like I can use it to it's full potential (modify it to my use) as it could be claimed that the warranty is now void. I am not one to write reviews, but I feel like I've been ghosted now and payed full price for a defective product. read more

I bought my ARB 2500 awning from Dana at MULE. great customer service, lots of knowledge about various overland gear, fun selection, competitive prices. they host gatherings and are fully part of "the scene," not just a retail shop. They R&D a lot of their offerings on their own adventures... two thumbs up for that, just wish they were a bit closer so I could window shop more often. Keep an eye out for discounts and sales on their website, FB, and/or Instagram. my only problem is I wish I had more funds to pick up more useful toys from them. read more

I have had several products installed here, including a long arm suspension with custom air bags on my Jeep JK. The shop crew have been great and always friendly. The retail store is a toy store for guys who love vehicles and the outdoors. It's dangerous every time I go into the store...I'll end up with an axe mounted to my roof, new lights on my bumper or some other awesome part on my rig! Dana and Matt are usually the ones in the retail store and they are always just as friendly as the shop crew. Oh, and the dog is super-friendly so don't hesitate to go in for a belly rub.
