Been coming here for 25 years since it was in the old building. The new bar layout was beautifully thought out, as was the outdoor dining area. We love eating in both areas. One problem: they need to brighten up the old area of the restaurant. It's gloomy compared to the new areas. The steak sandwich is simply the best in town. Happy Hour, with two-for-one well drinks and $5 onion straws, is one of the best going. We have always appreciated the tradition of serving a refill carafe with soft drinks. read more

I've lived in Ellisville for over 20 years and I finally visited this restaurant. The food was pretty good. However, I do wish the "to go" portions were a little larger. Needless to say, the food was still tasty. If I had one complaint, it would be the cod dinner. My fish was a little too well done. If I had ate in the restaurant, I would have sent it back, but there was nothing I could go once I got home. Overall, I will frequent this establishment again, and I will order the fish, to review again. read more

The restaurant called the Ellisville police, who kindly made sure the dog was taken to a shelter. Eventually the dog found a good home with us after spending time in a local rescue facility. I try to visit at least once a month for lunch. Service is always great, food is always great. I tend to drink alot of soda when I eat and my favorite thing about Mulligna's is when they bring you a drink they automatically bring your refill in a separate container full of ice ready to dump in. I never have to wait for a refill ! I went two days ago and they have expanded, it looks great too along with another great service and food trip. read more

We used to go to Mulligans almost every week but over the last few months, bad service, mediocre food, and place is not clean. Since they expanded it has only gotten worse. The food and atmosphere were great but our server ruined it. Never introduced herself & was so impersonal you could feel how much she didn't give af who we were or how we were, like customers are robots to her. Were both in the industry & try new places to meet fun servers, hear there stories, laugh. A pleasant surprise in Ellisville. Trapped in Chain Restaurant hell, we looked for a mom and pop place and stumbled upon Mulligan's. I had the double bogey and 9 wings. The burger is HUGE. Wings were Amazing! Loved everything I got and ate off of wifey's unbridled onion and philly steak sandwich. This is a place that does it right. You could tell this isn't frozen US Food Service food. Everything was fresh and juicy. Wonder why more bars and grills don't go this route. Highly recommend!!! read more

The wife and I wanted food and drinks after work, so we decided to stop at Mulligans. Tuesday night, jam packed which is a bit unusual for restaurants. We sat at the last two seats at the bar. Great service from Steve the owner and Maggie the bartender. Our drinks (along with everyone else at the bar) never went empty before asking if we wanted another despite being very busy. The food came out is a very reasonable time and it was really good. We felt we got great value for the cost. Mulligans has become one of our "regular" places from now on. read more

Great little neighborhood restaurant / bar. One of my favorite sandwiches is the Divot, a piece of grilled tuna with mushrooms and a slice of St. Louis provel cheese. Service is typically efficient. Typical American food establishment, fried foods and sandwiches. I would actually go back for the food! I had the chicken pita and we had the potato skins as an appetizer. I don't know how to rate this. We have a family of 5- 2 bigger kids and a baby in an infant seat. Before we were seated, the hostess asked if we wanted a high chair (baby is 6 weeks old) to put the carrier on. We said no, thinking we could slide her in a booth with us (this was our first visit) but then she pointed to a table for 4 in the middle of the room. I asked for the high chair then and she said they aren't allowed to do that in the aisle - we can wait for a table for 6 or we can put her on the floor. - so wait - you can't put a high chair there because it's a hazard but you want me to put my infant out of eye sight there?? My husband and I decided it was safer to put her on the floor between our chairs so I sat uncomfortably at the corner of the table with my chair pushed out. Thankfully the couple seated at the next table offered to sit next to each other instead of across (the gentleman actually thanked our baby ). All that to say - the food is good, I would try it again, but I just don't think they handled this very logically. Maybe going on a slow night would change my opinion. It appears the restaurant has outgrown itself as the tables are uncomfortably close like they are trying to get as many bodies in as possible. I struggled with my star rating - I was pretty angry with the seating arrangement but the food is decent. Wish 3.5 is possible. Our server herself was pleasant. read more

Judging from reviews it's a Love it or Hate it experience . We happened to be checking out a vehicles down the street and the tummies were growling ; with the busy parking lot we assumed Mulligans a worthwhile try . I should have taken my 'mulligan' to a greener tee..... and damned I was so close to Clancy's Irish Pub (Butcher Shop) over at The Barn at Lucerne or even Annie Gunn's. We started with the Onion Rings or " micro sliced onions " breaded and fried in a tasteless batter allowing the onion to reduce to a skin like residue . While served in a massive golden brown blob on grease resistant china , these tasteless glistening morsels drip into a puddle of " liquid grease " . We had the Double Bogey... a chunk of allegedly Ground Chuck clearly cut right from a tube, unseasoned and prepared to your specified level of finish . The meat is more like a 70/30 blend with chunks of non pink matter and not worth the price . Now for the Fish and Chips .... it's uniform pieces , almost like it was molded in a factory and a heavily breaded with sliver of cod nestled inside . The disgusting pre-breaded frozen cod loins at Sams have twice the size of fish sliver in their repulsive product . After the Onion Straws ... I elected to do Broccoli and it was DELECTABLE & TASTEFUL ! While the place was packed I suspicion we must have selected the two "DON'T DO IT ITEMS" on the menu . Once was enough for us considering the nearby Quality Options . At least I have figured out the MIRACLE OF THE FISHES & LOAVES.... damned good cutlery, masterful micro slicing and a whole shit load of leavened batter ! read more

It was a busy Friday night but there has been a wait every time I'm there so they have to be used to business. Husbands food was alright (Buffalo Chicken Wrap) but mine was horrible. I got the famous wings. They were super greasy and rubbery!! No sauce on them so I asked for some and that was the last time our server came to our table. HORRIBLE management. Maggie, a manager and bartender who claims she had been working there for 12 years, was verbally abusive and rude. We had been at the bar since 6pm for their 24th anniversary and had bought food and multiple rounds of drinks while tipping. At around 12:45am, my boyfriend had bought a round of shots that he felt was overpriced so he didn't offer a tip at the time, but we were not (to our knowledge at least since we were ultimately kicked out) done ordering drinks yet. Maggie comes out of nowhere, physically grabs my boyfriend, waves the receipt in his face and screams at him inquiring why he felt like he didn't need to tip his bartenders and servers on any of his at least 3 open tabs (a lie, he closed out his tab every time). She wanted him to leave but told the other two men with us that they could stay. She called us "cheap pieces of sh*t" and "motherf***ers" and flipped us off as we left the bar. We then started to talk to a group outside about our treatment and the women (another bartender there) said she didn't believe us cause "that's my best friend" and she had seen us there before and we had caused problems before (untrue, 3/4 people there had never been there and I live somewhere else 8 months out of the year). While we were talking to her, 4 or 5 intimidating looking men walk out with the intention of making us feel threatened because they clearly felt threatened. So I wrote a review on their Facebook because I couldn't find a website with a contact page. Maggie replied by lying and tell us that she didn't name call. She claims she approached us politely and asked us if there was anything wrong with our service. She then had the audacity to insinuate that I was too drunk to have an accurate judgement of what happened (I had two beers and my last one was done before 8pm), and claimed that she just needed to ask us as a group to leave (also a lie because she specifically targeted my boyfriend and only addressed him, starting her tirade by asking "are you *insert name here*?"). I couldn't help thinking that she took advantage of us being younger adults (early 20s) rather than the older population they probably get most often at Mulligans, because I can't imagine that she would speak to a middle-aged man like this, like my father for example. It was also ironic to me that she decided to finally act in a somewhat professional manner when being approached on a public forum where her name and the business's name could have been tainted. Now, I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt because maybe she mistook us for the wrong group of people. But regardless, you work in a SERVICE industry, and you do not exemplify a business with 5 star customer service by calling a group of people names and shouting expletives and treating them with ZERO respect. She was an absolute nightmare, and I can't believe this is the type of manager that they are going to allow to represent their family establishment in West St. Louis county. We have family and friends who have been going here for years, and will not be giving this restaurant any more of their business after the verbal abuse we received. Honestly despicable. I have been to Mulligans a few times and have had an acceptable experience. However, on my last visit I ordered the fish and chips. Big Mistake. The fish was lukewarm and LOADED with breading. If you scrape the breading off there is but a sliver of fish remaining. As for the "chips", they were what everybody else calls waffle fries. They had almost no flavor at all and certainly were not made from an actual potato...more like powdered potatoes pressed into the shape of waffle fries. Yuck!
