Fish and Chips hits the spot

Classic open air Irish Bar in Wailea. Large parking lot that's seen better days. Dog and Duck in Kihei recently closed. You climb up a rickety stairs to the concrete pier, timber, sliding door framed restaurant on top of a grassy knoll. The property includes offices and has seen better days. This restaurant sits on the fringe of the Wailea Blue course and sells huge 20 oz "pints" of Guinness Stout or Harp Ales on draft all day for $9.00. Cocktails are good and ample. Holey moley, this place gets absolutely packed esp on Friday night with live music depending on the band. Interesting mix of Wailea tourists and seasoned citizens getting their grove on. Some of what I thought were matured single ladies cruising. Simple laminated cocktail menu that is probably static. Food menu is basic Irish bar food with lots of fried and braised items. Huge bar that shows sports and a large patio overlooking Wailea sunsets. From a line halfway up the stairs I observed the Host seat a full restaurant within 30 minutes. The service and kitchen were really slammed, but fast and efficient. Fish and chips were good, fries soggy not stellar, Braised beef short ribs, pastas and chowder looked good and serviceable. Runners waltzed through and dropped and picked up effortlessly.

We had a wonderful time at the Magic show we brought our visitors for some fun One of our party got called on stage. It was great and a ton of fun

We had the best time at Mulligan's, we happened to go on a Thursday when Brenton Keith, the magician was performing. The show was so entertaining, and our son who is a budding magician was even called on stage. Food was great, drinks were awesome & the show completed the evening. Highly recommend!

Came by for late lunch. Place was quiet. Nice... Before the happy hour crowd comes. This place is only opened on weekends (since covid) The Shepard's pie and Corned Beef and Hash are always good pub choices. Portions are big, so we always take home other half portion for dinner. Good deal! Posting pic of other halves

    Excellent food and drinks!

This our first time dining with our friends living at Waiela. We had their fish and chips was delicious but I would have preferred more fish and spices. The chips was crispy and delicious. I had the mulligan pot pie and large portions amazingly delicious full of beef carrots and onions. Lastly we share two apple pie with vanilla ice creams spectacular with burst of flavors of cinnamon and cloves. Perfectly baked and not too sweet or runny. Lastly the selection of wine was mediocre especially the Mondavi cab was blah. I'm guessing they don't have good wine selection because it's an Irish pub so next time we will order beers. We will definitely return

We were spending 8 days on Maui, and Lineage was to be the capstone meal on the stay. Reservations were made 6 weeks in advance, and were arrived at promptly. The party consisted of my wife, 2 daughters (10 and 12), and I. We were seated, and told whom our waiter would be. At which point our waiter and another member of the staff come from the kitchen. The waiter 'greets us', takes our drink menu, and leaves. He calls back to the other member of the staff, and says "you were right". His demeanor was cold, smug, and condescending. He was PUSHING a $185 8oz Wagyu steak like there was a prize for selling it. The menu is limited, but we made our selections outside of his "recommendations". The only bright spot in the meal was the assistant that helped our waiter throughout the meal. He was warm, engaging, funny, and all around a great human. He took his time, and asked us where we were from etc. The meal was good, but not great. The experience with the waiter aside. We ordered the chicken (2), noodles, and the up country salad. The food was fresh and flavorful, but not earth shattering. I still tipped the waiter over 20%, but I also made a point to find the assistant and tip him separately. He salvaged the meal, and should be a lead waiter!

Unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing experience we've had. Looking back, we probably should have asked to speak with a manager while we were there, but after everything that happened, we simply felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I'll start with the positives because there were several. The drinks were delicious, the sea bass was excellent, and the dessert was absolutely incredible. The pasta itself was a little overcooked and soggy, but the flavor was still very good. The disappointing part of our evening was the service. After our server initially introduced herself, it took quite a while before she returned to take our drink order. When we were ready to order dinner, my husband was still deciding between a couple of menu items. Rather than giving him another moment, our server became visibly impatient and said she would come back after delivering our drinks. It ended up being more than 10 minutes before she returned. When I asked whether the entrees came with bread, her response made me feel embarrassed for even asking. Since they didn't, we ordered the biscuits as an appetizer to enjoy while waiting for our meals. Our children's meals arrived promptly, which we appreciated. However, our server never once stopped by to see if the kids needed anything. I had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. Meanwhile, our server walked past our table several times without checking on us or asking if we'd like another round of drinks--which we actually would have ordered. When our entrees arrived, the biscuits still hadn't come out. Shortly afterward, our server finally checked on us. I let her know that since our meals had already arrived, we no longer needed the biscuits and simply asked that they not be included on the bill. Her response was, "Well, they're made fresh and in the oven now. I guess I can go tell the kitchen you don't want them anymore." I replied, "They were supposed to be our appetizer, and our meals are already here now." Before I could even finish my sentence, she walked away while I was still speaking and appeared to mumble something under her breath. That interaction left my husband and me feeling shocked and disappointed. We've dined at many restaurants over the years and have never felt spoken to in that manner. We had considered asking to speak with a manager at that point, but honestly, we just wanted to finish our meal and leave without any further uncomfortable interactions. This was especially disappointing because Tommy Bahama has always been one of our favorite restaurants and a place we genuinely look forward to visiting whenever we're in Hawaii. We hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, because the food continues to be wonderful--the service simply did not match the quality we've come to expect.

However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. That being said, I would be willing to give the restaurant another chance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: 6.21.26 I appreciate the response. It's telling that you addressed the air conditioning, disputed the gender of an employee, and questioned whether I was even there, yet didn't meaningfully respond to the concerns about service, timing, attentiveness, or food quality. If a customer leaves with a poor experience, the question isn't whether they perfectly recalled every detail. The question is why they left with that impression in the first place. I suspect future readers can draw their own conclusions from both the review and the response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most disappointing dining experience of our Hawaii trip. We specifically asked to sit indoors because we wanted a break from the Maui heat after spending the day outside. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.
