Mulligan's is your average pub with decent pub fare. I got a root beer float, which was sufficiently float-y, but weirdly lacking in root beer flavor. For appetizers, we ordered potato skins, wings, and mozzarella sticks. They were all good, but nothing special. For the entree, I ordered the lobster and asparagus quesadilla, which I enjoyed a lot - more creative than your average pub fare! The building that Mulligan's is in harkens back to an earlier time in Manchester, VT when it was a "family" style restaurant called the Harvest Inn back in the 70's when I was a child. Although it's been redecorated (and somewhat reconfigured since then) it's not entirely clear whether or not it's been CLEANED in the intervening time. The food is what I would call C minus pub fare. It's maybe a step above cafeteria food, and if it was cheap enough, you were hungry and/or drunk enough, it might be considered almost acceptable...if the place was clean. Did I mention that it even smells dirty? If you're looking for pub food in Manchester, the Manchester Bar and Grille is a safer bet. Mulligan's also has a location up at Stratton which is somewhat better. Evidently, the high prices (for what you get) and the managable size of the restaurant have allowed them to linger longer than ordinarily you might expect. What's particularly funny to me about this is a letter that was printed in our local newspaper by the manager (or perhaps owner) decrying a "whisper campaign" that was announcing the closing of Mulligan's. The service was horrible. Waitrees asked my wife if she is sure she wanted to order the fried chicken dish. When we asked why, she said I never had it and it did not look good to me. Then she tells us it is a very popular dish, what???? Food was good but not hot. If not for the owner we might have never got our food. Excuse was we are backed up. Owner comes over and we told him we are watching other tables get their food that came in a good 20 minutes after us and he runs to the back and brings out our food. They forgot my sons fries and again the onwner takes care of that. More drinks, again the owner. He became our waiter. He did give us free Irish coffees to try and make up for it. This is a solid American food place in Manchester. It is very kid friendly and we have been coming here regularly for the last many years. Burgers and salads are great (lately they have also had some amazing smoked fish platters), and the draft beer selection is very good with a fair number of local brews. read more

Mediocre food at high prices, but that wasn't the issue. Apparently after ten tourists are not longer welcome. A friend and I were unceremoniously kicked out whilst having a casual beer because a drunk local girl decided she had a problem with us. It wasn't even her behavior that left me so perturbed, but rather the behavior of the bartender who grabbed my credit card from my hands and told us we were leaving right then, after he had spent the night completely ignoring us while being so helpful to everyone else at the bar. The service was extremely poor, had to go to the bar for refills because the server only came back to drop the check. Ordered the lobster and the inside was mushy, black/grey and green. All the food was cold and when we spoke to the manager about the poor service and cold/disgusting food he was condescending and screamed at us saying "the black in the lobster was a sauce". Paid a visit to Vermont for a quick weekend in the off-season. Loved it! Happened into Mulligan's. The huge 25oz Long Trail Beers were so refreshing and fairly priced. The frosted glass stayed frosted or at least cool for the entire drink. The bartender was old school and I appreciate that. Very knowledgeable. Crowd was lively and mixed ages. Tried the lobster roll - could've easily eaten another one it was so good but filling. Loved the jo jos or potato wedges that came on the side. Boyfriend had chicken parm and it was a huge portion. We were given the choice of the tavern side or the dining side and since the tavern had tvs, we chose that. It was noisy (we were warned and I'm sure if we asked to switch, we could have). A group of 6 of us stopped in during a weekend visit. We were seated promptly, but asked if we could switch from a corner slide in table to a regular one due to the fact my husband has an artificial leg. Service was good, even though the waiter mixed up our orders couple times. He was apologetic and sweet, so we overlooked it. We decided to split up for a little bit, leaving my husband and brother in law behind for an hour so the rest could shop. There were no seats at the bar, and when the two decided that they would move to a smaller table top, the waitress asked for 20 dollars because they only wanted drinks. My husband paid her, and she kept the money. Considering we had just spent money on lunch and drinks for 6 people, and that my handicapped husband needed to sit while he had a drink, I am appalled that someone would do that. The wife and I were looking for a quick lunch spot while in town. We saw the sign "open for lunch" and decided to check it out. The restaurant looks more like a sports bar once inside. We decided on the apple-wood smoked bacon wrapped chicken wings and the nachos. The wings were fantastic and the nachos with the guacamole were tasty. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The waitress was inattentive and condescending. The food was terrible. I ordered a French dip and it came out as cold roast beef on a toasted roll. The waitress told me it comes that way because "that's how they do it in France." The fries were disgusting. They seemed like they were cooked an hour ago and sitting under a heat lamp... Completely inedible. My date ordered a medium burger and it came out more than well done. The waitress never asked how everything was or even noticed that the burger went almost completely uneaten. A $5 McDonald's meal would have been 100 times more enjoyable than our meal tonight. read more

I went there couple times when I snowboarder at Stratton mountain. Food was OK. I recommend their buffalo burger and applewood smoked wings. What surprised me most was that they did offer some Asian style cuisines such as Korean fried chicken and ramen noodle bowl. My buddy told me that they did so because there is a high school nearby that has some Asian students. What disappointed me was the service which was little bit slow and can be improved. It's been awhile since we've been here so we thought we'd give it a try again. We were promptly greeted and seated. Nice atmosphere and crowd. Loud but good people watching. The server was attentive checked in and came by frequently and that's where it ends. OK the drinks, fries and mozzarella sticks were fine. All the other food was hardly edible. We ordered multiple items and they are just plain sad. The burger was flavorless and dry the tomato slices were mushy. Clam chowder was salty and slightly fishy. Little pig flatbread was over cooked, chewy and dry. It had potential but failed. It was like if it was sitting and reheated. Fish and chips were crispy but it was literally a mound of fries with three small pieces of fish. Nachos were gross. It would have been better if they put a bag of tostitos on a plate and opened a jar of salsa. Dry and chewy. Hardly any cheese toppings and had that microwaved reheated texture. We were really disappointed and would have been better off dining at the Stratton lodge cafeteria. Maybe for drinks but not for food. read more

We enjoyed a very nice dinner there! My husband said the Korean fried chicken was incredible, the wasabi mashed potatoes were perfect- not too spicy but just right amount! And the sugar snap peas were fresh, and cooked to the perfect texture- with a crunch but not raw! I had steak and mushroom pie that was really great! My husband and I ate at Mulligan's for dinner while visiting Manchester. My husband ordered mussels in a diavolo sauce. While the sauce was a bit too spicy (even for our weathered Indian palates), the flavors were excellent and the mussels were delicious. I had an asparagus and lobster quesadilla which was probably one of the best quesadillas I've ever had. It was filled with cheese (which was totally the reason I got the quesadillas in the first place) and the flavors were excellent.
