Sorry, Mulligan's, not impressed. The best thing about this restaurant is that it is in the building that used to be The Harvest Inn, a favorite from my childhood. After that exciting discovery, things went downhill. It is a pub-type atmosphere. Not a problem, I love a pub, but no gluten free anything, beer, bread, bun, or prep. Most of the world has come around to accept that some customers prefer to avoid gluten and will offer a gluten free bun for hamburgers or at least suggest a lettuce wrap for your burger as an alternative. Nope. No gluten-free. The food was okay but I had a hard time choosing from the menu because of the dearth of gluten free options. There was a sign on the table that a 4% charge would be added to the bill if paid with a credit card. Well, it's good that they warned us, and it really didn't add much to the bill, but it was off-putting. I do pretty much everything with credit now and wasn't stocked with cash. Oh well. Just a little unwelcoming. Service was good, efficient and quick, though the wait-person was pretty much run off her feet and a understandably a little brusque. Waited at the hostess stand for over five minutes with no one coming to acknowledge us (place was not busy). The hostess was unenthused about our presence and gave us outside (it's cold) or the bar option then pointed down the hall to go to the bar. Sat at the bar for five minutes, made eye contact with the bartender twice and he never came over. Place smelled like it flooded. They added a 4% charge to credit card payments. No idea what the food is like. Didn't make it past the incredibly rude front of house staff. Let the first rude comment go, as we had walked further into the restaurant upon having waited for someone to appear at the front for a few minutes, but after the 2nd, 3rd and 4th snipey comments from the same host, decided we would spend our money somewhere else. The food is simplistic. I ordered a beet and spinach salad and I might as well have bought it from a grocery store. The beer selection was ten different IPAs and a lager... I like IPA but so boring. But you don't write a two star yelp review because of uninteresting food do you? We described our table as the frontier because we had to do everything ourself... help wasn't coming! Think massive 10-15m waits between check ups from the waitress, if at all. It took us two hours to get lunch... so if you have a lot of time to waste to eat lousy food. Oh bonus material: I'm a dad, and I tried to change my daughter's diaper but the men's doesn't have a changing table, but the woman's does. Well my wife and I are figuring this out (haven't been here before) and the hostess is making comments about how my wife should be changing the diapers in the first place. I've been going to Mulligans for over 10 years and have had some good and some bad experiences. I've stopped going there over thr past few years because their hamburger has been a big FAIL the past 3 or 4 times I've gone there despite the prices going up. The bun, cheese, lettuce, tomato and fries are just fine but the meat is a horrible grade and cooked incorrectly. MESSAGE TO THE OWNER - please change the vendor that provides the meat and change the method of cooking. Go around manchester and order a burger from six of your competitors in town. Do blind taste tests with your staff on which they prefer. I want it to be good because the restaurant has a good atmosphere, decent service and I like their drink/appetizer selection. I'm in the shame on me mode for going back there thinking that it will be good. read more

Definitely a sports bar. They didn't have the patio open so we ate inside. Food was great and portion size was good. There was 4 tv's with sports on them. Of course they were muted but you could easily focus in on which team you wanted. Service was fast and accurate with the meals. Fortunately, we got there before the rush and we're able to get a spot. My husband described this as a horror show. worst waitstaff we have ever experienced. we ate outdoors and the older of the two ladies was downright rude. She was rude to us and especially rude to an older couple at a nearby table. i believe she was the boss lady. The younger waitress was more pleasant, but incompetent. My husband had a cheeseburger which he rated a 3,we shared an order of nachos, also a 3 as all we tasted were hot peppers, and i had a shrimp quesadilla. i rate it a 1. i picked all the shrimp out of it as it had a funny taste and smell. i rate the ambience a 4, a pretty patio, but extremely noisy from the road traffic and mowers/blowers. read more

Our family invaded this location on a Sunday evening. There were four adults and six kids. The restaurant accommodated our reservation no problem, and they set up us in the dining room with the bar and nice long table. Our server was super patient with our group, and got everybody taken care of with drinks & appetizers. With such a large group, I didn't keep track of what everyone was ordering, but can talk about my personal experience and the overall vibe that the group put out after dinner. First off, they have a great selection of local brews, which is always a bonus. I forget what local beer I had, but it was delicious. Another interesting thing about this place, is that even though its very similar to your traditional irish american pub far, they have a small asian section on the menu, the most famous of the items being the KFC or Korean Fried Chicken. Having been here before, I had spotted this on the menu then, but stuck to getting a burger. This time, I went for the KFC, and while I'm glad I did, let me tell you some caveats. The chicken that you get is boneless, wonderfully spiced, and give a kick, but not where it packs that much of a punch. What does pack a punch is the wasabi infused mashed potatoes that comes with the meal. Wow....my nose cleared right up after a few bites. In my opinion, it was just a bit too much wasabi for me, but a couple of folks in my party, including some of the kids tried it and loved it. I will say that I enjoyed it for the first few bites, but then it was just too much. If you love wasabi, you'll love the mash. Everyone else seemed happy with their experience and the prices are right. A great location for a large group, wonderful service, and good food. Certainly recommend it. read more

We stayed at a local hotel, and when we asked about dinner, all the girl at the desk could say for sure was that she know Mulligan's was open for sure, but not sure about anywhere else. So we went to Mulligan's around 6. It's actually three restaurants - a sushi place upstairs, Mulligan's at ground level, and a bar with pool tables, etc downstairs. The hostess told us there would be a 15 minute wait for a table, so we headed to the bar for a cosmo and a glass of house white. Our table was ready, so we settled the bar tab - $35! Weren't expecting THAT. On to the dining room, where we had a great waitress, great service, and pretty darn good food - a half rack of ribs for him (delicious), and a turkey ciabatta for me - also delicious (so big I took half of mine home). Reasonable prices for the food, and a good experience. Very crowded, with a long wait by the time we left around 7:15 or 7:30. read more

I'm writing this review to bring their average up, because this place definitely has some good food. Nothing fancy, but the burgers were juicy and flavorful, the fries were crisp and hot, my daughters French dip was perfectly done. Our pretzel stick appetizer was hot, fluffy, and flavorful, and came with a cheese and honey mustard sauce. Both were tasty. Prices are fairly reasonable for a touristy place like this, so if you're looking for a good pub meal and (for the area) good prices, head on down! read more

We decided to eat here after checking into our conference hotel up the street. We had evalutated the various Yelp reviews, but frankly, they did not give a very accurate picture. First, there is ample parking in back. Second, the dining area is spacious and well lit. It's not pub dining. It's restaurant dining. Third, service was superb and professional. We were waited on by an experienced waitress, not by a kid working her way through school. The difference is enormous. Experience is the best teacher. Fourth, the food here was quite good. We had the fried calamari appetizer, and it was excellent. It came with very fresh dip and was cooked perfectly. My wife had a guiness stout which was excellent from the bar. She is an avid fan of the dark beers, so the fact that this restaurant had guiness available was a huge plus. Our entrees were excellent. My wife had a tortilla wrap while i went with the fish and chips. Hers was excellent while mine was superlative--the cod was very fresh, and moist, making for a delicious dining experience. And, the tartar sauce with it was very fresh. The fish was so good, who had time for chips? But they were great too, big steak fries, more potatoes than anything else. Afterwards, we looked at the walls. They had a legit team photo of the 1915 Championship Red Sox on the wall. One of the greatest teams ever. But you dont see photos of them with each player's nane handwritten. They had a number of other terrific sports photos on the walls. A great dining experience! read more

Visited 05/21 Stopped here first for a drink after walking around town all day and later for a burger and salad. Nice place... lots of TVs (sports minded) and a good selection of beer. When we came for dinner, I opted for the beefalo burger, which was excellent. My wife had the steak salad, which was ok, but nothing to rave about. Atmosphere is great, ordered a steak salad not at all what I was expecting, steak was cold and well done very little flavor, ordered crispy wings as well and they were overly breaded which the menu did not mention, otherwise we would've gotten the smoked wings. Mulligans was ok. Perfect spot if you are looking for pub grub, they have all the usual suspects. Chicken fingers, potato skins, burgers. I had a burger which was nicely cooked and I the potato skins were very good. It is a big place, I imagine it gets very busy at peak times. It was pretty quiet in here today and there wasn't much in the way of atmosphere. It felt very generic. They had a good beer selection and I was happy to see some local brews on there. The Long Trail Ale is a must. I'd like to see the place when it is busier to see if it changes the atmosphere of the place but if it is comfort food you are after, this place ticks the boxes. read more

Decided to try it one more time after leaving disappointed 2 years ago! Bad idea!! I only gave 1 star as the hostess was very sweet! The waitress has seen better days! Not attentive I complained my nachos had nothing on them but a pile of chips and she loudly replied that is the small! I said the size was good just nothing but chips! She didn't offer anything other than do you want anything else! No other solution to make me happy. My husband got a $24.00 steak the size of a small burger! Ordered it medium and it was well done. Mulligans appeared a bit bougie from the menu and outer appearance, but my experience was a bit underwhelming. We had a group of eleven and they were able to accommodate us in the back room with a reservation without incident. The clam chowder was fantastic. When in New England, do as the New Englanders do... right? I also tried a "Beefalo" burger and hated it. They suggest getting it no more than medium rare which is what I ordered, but when it came out I swear the burger was still mooing. I sent it back to sit a little longer on the grill which they had no issue with but I couldn't bring myself to finish it. My table mates had positive experiences with the Shepherd's Pie, the Ramen Noodle dishes among other things so your mileage may vary! As for the ambience, the decorations are a hodgepodge of mounted animal heads, old military regalia, portraits of people from history you have to look up to recognize and overall very dark lighting. There is some obvious Boston sports pictures and decorations as well which seems standard for the area. What I will say is that our service was excellent. The waiter was very attentive to a large group and had some funny quips as well. Can only give it two stars due to my experience but don't let that shy you away from trying this place out next time you're in Manchester! read more

Haha I agree with the one other reviewer of this place. It was pretty bad. Ordered the wings to start tonight. $8 for six tiny wings that were fine but just not nearly worth the price. I mean tiny. Then, had the Caesar salad with chicken. Nasty. Way too much dressing. And they put three chicken strips on it. Barely amounted to anything. What really made me ill though is when I parked in the back of the restaurant. Walking towards the front I look up and one of the young cooks is laying on the roof of an adjacent garage or building that is off the deck and he is sunning himself while running his hands thru his hair. In town for our anniversary. Looked online at the menu. Seemed pretty standard. We got there, was greeted by friendly hostess got seated right away. Decor was interesting. The waitress we had seemed like it was her first night working. The menu didn't really elaborate on the items. Asked the waitress how many ounces the steak was and she said well, not sure maybe 7 or 8. Asked about the chicken carbonara and she said I don't even know how to say it or what it even is it is new to our menu... my husband ordered the steak and it was very dry and chewy. I ordered the smoked salmon and trout. When it came out I was quite unsure what it was I thought it was a starter salad since that is all I saw. Then I thought maybe they forgot to add the fish. After moving around all the red onion that was in big chunks and some carrots and lettuce there was a piece of trout that was so hard I needed a knife to cut through it. I was scared to eat it at that point. The salmon didn't taste smoked at all. And it was almost like it sat out waiting to be brought out as it was more room temperature. Needless to say we were Quite disappointed on our first night away for our Anniversary. Unfortunately giving it one star because I will give credit to the fast seating and friendly hostess. What you'd expect out of a classic American pub in a tourist town. The food is just ok. The ambiance is nice. It's dark and cozy. Decent beer selection. Come for lunch and have a few different beers. Don't expect to be blown away, but appreciate it for what it is. read more

Have nothing to complain about at Mulligan's! The portions are big and the drinks are great. Today, the sangria was absolutely amazing! I had the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). It was a huge portion with extra crispy chicken- and seriously EXTRA CRISPY. Very good. My friend had the steak sandwich which was open faced. Applewood smoked wings? Dry to the bone which was unfortunate, the recipe was encouraging but any flavor was just cooked right out of them. Fish and chips? Overcooked, bland and flavorless filets. I don't understand the negative reviews for this restaurant, we had a great lunch here. The server was friendly, the food was delicious and fast. It's got standard bar food, but that's what we expected and wanted. I had the quiche of the day, which was served with the side salad. The quiche was great, but the salad was surprisingly the star -- I'd never had a side salad so big and with so many elements. We had a great lunch and are glad we stopped by. read more
